- Well...go big or go home, right? After quitting our jobs, selling our things, and leaving our home to travel the world, we decided to start it off with a bang by climbing the tallest mountain in Africa...Mount Kilimanjaro! We are taking the Machame Route that will take 7 days total to summit and descend from the massive free-standing mountain. Today in day 1 of the climb we start at Machame gate, and climb through the rainforest to Machame camp where we have our first dinner on the mountain, and sleep in our tents for the first time.

I climbed Kilimanjaro in 2017 with my hubby and daughter. It was just the 3 of us with 13 ppl plus 2 guides. We decided to do it in 8 days and we made it! What an adventure it was! I'm reliving the climb with you 2 and Congrats on making it to the top!

Wow!! So amazing to hear your story of this trip!! I love camping but not hiking. Camping over a coleman stove and smelling that awesome goodness morning or night or even on a fire is soo wonderful!! Did more as a young adult than a kid but we have grown from those days and now we go glamping!! Camping in an RV in places we have never been! LOVE IT! ❤️ Continued 🙏 for safety and fun for you all!!!

Great first day climbing Kili. The altitude will be the hardest to overcome, but your guides are awesome and helping and keeping you informed how to
deal with it. Hope you left some of your jitters far behind you now. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!! Sweet dreams!!
I wish you nothing but a good climb! Your video took me back to January 2022, when i summited on the same route, for me Kili was more mental than physical, you will need ALL you mental juices on summit night. I also learnt to enjoy the process, take in the beauty of the mountain, don't rush it to base camp, drink lots of Kilimanjaro Whisky aka water and programme your mind to eat for fuel. As they say there is no diet on the mountain. I am also glad that your group is not big which in my opinion is the best way to climb Kili, made lifetime friends on that hike and i am forever grateful. Love from Zimbabwe!

There are lots of travelers' vlogs and just about always when we are seeing their video they have already moved on to their next destination
@@mariafulton1213 that is true but it's been less than a week since they left the US(based off of the THWIB channel) and they mentioned the hike was going to be around 7 days
Tihwb had to hold that part a few days bc they said where D&C were going so that part wasn't the next day vlog like tihwb posts all there stuff normally but just the d&c part was added in from days earlier
When riding dirtbike in the mountains in the us when you’re at the top you have service on some mountains last summer camping we didn’t have service at our campsite but the people who had carried there phone up the mountain trail riding would receive messages randomly
