thank you so much, yes we are humbled with the growth in subs, it seems to have taken a real upturn as we explore out of our comfort zone that is hiking. we have a few hiking videos stacking up but are scared to put them out now. we will be sticking with the travel and budget theme until at least September, it seems to be a real door opener! the gardens in Filey are truly in a league of their own. we share the same council but clearly the resources are sent in Fileys direction! have an awesome weekend! ♥️ 🚐

Beautiful seaside town. Pretty amazing for a beach town to have low crime IMHO. That was funny to see the ducks on the boats. Cool brigg trail on the shore during low tide. Lots of positives. Love the activity scale. 👍 Cheers and happy weekend🤠

@@GENerationXplorers yeah we went through a rebrand thinking it would be easier for us to be found on youtube as people were struggling to find our chanel but turns out it's actually made no difference us changing our name etc. Means alot though guys thankyou 😁 we thought we would start with an easy climb as willow has a fear if heights. I say that but recently she's been smashing her fears and really enjoyed the climb too 😁🙏

I love your tours lately of these lovely little seaside towns! The overflowing bins definitely aren't the best first impression, but nice to fix It quickly with those lovely little flower beds. Lots of take out options, yum! Lots of shops too. Cute knitted post box cover! Lovely gardens with beautiful views of the water! That really is a lot of work put into the gardens. Wow so many benches! Hope your wish comes true from the bell! Lovely promenade. Hahaha love the outdoor "gym" haha! You're right Nick, that's why it's the 8th best!! Hi Simon, yes its a very different atmosphere in Filey, its hard to imagine that its sandwiched between the bustling and hectic towns of Scarborough and Bridlington. its a great place to escape from the madness of those places if you want a quieter more reserved day! hope your having an awesome weekend!
Lovely video, Filey should do more to make it more touristy as you get out of the train, would make sense rather than bins haha!! Some lovely flower arrangements, nice to see they are taking care of them. Ooo 20 pubs so far, liking the sound of that! Love the beach huts, as prices go that's pretty reasonable, we have them down South and they are crazy expensive. Hahaha, Nick, that cracked me up when you were on the gym equipment hahah, work those muscles! Like the look of Coble landing, amazing to see the seaside shops and of course the beautiful views on the beach! Love it. Lovely little walk, the beach is stunning and nice and quiet! Another EXCELLENT video you two xx
ah the 20 Pubs. well there is a few along the Crescent that look like they would be great fun, plenty of people sat inside and out enjoying themselves in the sunshine, then set back a bit there is a dozen or so “sketchy” pubs whereby I imagine they might be like something from the movies, i would imagine full of locals and fishermen that all stop talking when you walk in and stare at any outsider! thats in my head anyway, to be fair they could be lovely and very welcoming! Hopefully that first stretch can be tidied up, maybe someone from the Council will see the video and realise this is the first impression a visitor gets when arriving on train! i mean i actually parked on the lovely crescent so my first impression was lovely but i like to start the video as if im on a day trip getting off the train and put myself in that persons place! got lucky with the gym equipment, there’s usually quite a crowd on those! thank you so much for kind comments! just off to Byland Abbey on another English Heritage day out, what have you done? my welcome pack arrived yesterday too, will be opening that in a bit! xx

Nothing like a good olde fashioned outdoor gym! I feel like so many more people would train and exercise if they had stuff like this set up for others to use for free in parks and such!

Visit as a child? I suppose there was less to do there than its Scarborough counterpart. But i was quite happy with the one toy shop, one arcade and doing rolly pollies off the cliff!

Yes, really want to be as honest as possible with what someone might see when stepping off the train for a day visit! if the row of overflowing bins was genuinely what a new visitor saw first when arriving i think it would take a while to win them back with what they see after. Filey Beach and bay is glorious , the town has hardly changed in the 70 years I have been going . We stay twice a year with our dog , we love it . Believe me November is lovely too , its the peace and the dog walks .

What a delightful place Filey is, I’d never heard of it before. Those manicured gardens were amazing as was the high street. The coastal walk and beaches looked simply tropical. Can’t believe you only scored it 3 out of five, what on earth is the matter with you? What truly sold it to me was the total lack of JBP or indeed any sign of bloody dogs. On the negative side however, there was very little prancing, no gate of the week and no sign of a chopping board! Overall a splendid film encompassing two very pleasant people, well done to you both. Cheers Mike 👍
There is a total lack of JBP there Mike, if we were to rate it on that scale it would have to be a 6 out of 5! We had to edit it out there was a very annoying dog called biscuit that we showed in a bit of B Roll, but two full on proper chavs followed us all the way to the Brigg shouting BISCUIT the entire way. When jill says how tranquil it is that was well and truly an in joke. The two worst chavs were keeping pace with us the entire way shouting at the top of their lungs BISCUIT BISCUIT BISCUIT. So annoying. All edited and mirrored to make look relaxing! Spoiler alert both the chopping board (to be named BILL) and gate of the week return next week, along with a new segment great history but then its 8 facts right 2 absolutely mental. We might offend more than we please, hey ho, we had fun… ♥️☕️
I've only ever been to Filey once. I'm still here 25 years later. I moved here when i bought a seafront hotel. Sadly, it has since been converted to luxury £1 million apartments. Filey does have some amazing seafront walks. The Wolds way travels south towards Flamborough lighthouse & beyond. The Cleveland way travels north to Scarborough & beyond & eventually turns linland. We also have a great golf course (I'm told).

We have covered the Cleveland Way but are yet to do the Wolds Way think we may do the Tabular Hills one next which is suppose to make the Cleveland way a circular long distance walk! We have heard Scarborough has two golf clubs that are suppose to be great 🤷🏻♀️ hope you are having a good week 👍

Hi guys, you brought back some lovely memories from when we went to Filey a few years ago eating waffles and ice cream on the prom but we drove and really only saw the beautiful beach and walked on Filey Brigg and did really love it there. I Think I remember the beautiful flower beds though near the sea and all of the benches there. We have the knitted post box covers scattered about here too hehe 😃 20 pubs seems a lot for what we remember to be quite a small place but maybe we didn't see it all ! I really liked Filey Crescent and the fact that crime is low in Filey. We love Sunday afternoons at bandstands with a picnic in the summer so would definitely be found there at that one ! :) The beach is definitely a beautiful one and you got lovely footage of it. Really enjoyed this look around :) ~ Anna 👍❤️
thank you so much Anna, yes this is a place id be taken to as a child growing up on many a summer holiday on a day out from Scarborough. whilst there wasn’t too much to entertain me in the town centre the Brigg and the Coble Landing have always charmed. id love to see something at that Bandstand, they do have some upcoming events on, i’ll have to return! those crime figures are really low aren’t they and I didn’t see any police all day. i do love those knitted post box covers, so much work goes into them! the flower beds and number of benches definitely work in Filey’s favour, im not sure its the 8th best seaside resort in the UK, but anyone visiting on a nice day when the tide is out will not be disappointed! thank you so much for kind words and memories! have an awesome weekend!

never been before, although set off to go and then we pass the turning for Whitby and yes, you guessed it :o) Not the most welcoming of sights when you get off the train, makes you want to turn around and get back on the train - to anywhere!! Fair play it did get better and better the closer you got down to the sea front, with plenty of independent and charity shops, oh Mrs Metalman would love them. The gardens did look nice and so many benches to stop and enjoy them too but the highlight was the beach, which was amazing, proper sand too. Looking at this and then looking back at your Skegness video I think both are in the wrong position, one wants to go up and one down, cheers Alan
absolutely right Alan and a perfect judge as always. ive always loved Filey but i do remember my folks taking me here when i was a nipper and i was bored to death in the town and always got my own back by doing rolly poleys off the cliff at the Brigg to give them heart attacks. those were the days. but it was my lockdown staple as i could get to it in walking distance and it always felt so different to Scarborough so i enjoyed the freedom of being able to explore in a pandemic. my mother in law is a huge charity shop fan and only visits if we take her to Filey, its wall to wall with them on some streets. the Brigg is a marvel but its weather and tide dependent. if the weather is bad or high tide is mid day you can write a visit to Filey off for at least a week. The “which survey” ratings are skewed, i want to expose them for what they are. this is not the 8th best seaside resort in the UK and Skegness is definitely not the worst! both are worth everyones time but given the choice id revisit Skegness more often!
It looks a beautiful place but it doesn't seem to be advertising itself. It looked completely deserted. But still beautiful. Thanks for sharing and sorry i missed the Premiere.
thank you so much Chris, to be fair we did visit on a Monday and they are still getting ready for the School Holidays but your right its a very laid back affair with only toddlers and pensioners being truly delighted with its offerings. not much for anyone inbetween..

I've been to Filey a few times, my wife used to visit regularly as a child as she had relatives there. The tide was in the last time I visited and as you said there isn't much else to do when that happens. Oh we are too Andy, think the Which Survey scale is way out of whack. I think we need to expose these good or bad ratings as a priority! A chip shop in Hornsea has just won best chippy of the year. I’m off to check that out and scrutinise it very soon! 👍

Hey both, second time of watching…really enjoyed this vlog. Filey isn’t somewhere we’re familiar with, but apart from the bins when you first come out of the station, it looks lovely. ‘Tequila, it makes me happy’ 😂. There are parts of it especially by the crescent remind us of Llandudno. Lovely view from the benches! Green flag, very cool. Watch out for that Lion, looked like Aslan from the Narnia stories. The beach looks lovely, the toilets might be free to look a bit grim to be honest. Love that you still got a bridge twirl in!! Outdoor gym, nah, we’ll give that a miss 😂. Coble Landing looks cute. The sand looks nice but doesn’t look a patch on places like Barmouth. We’d love to know where there would come in the listings of best beaches and resorts. Loving the beach walkway. Beautiful 360 views. That last bit of walk looked great, I think even we could do that. Really loved that both. Not sure if it would make our top ten but we’ll definitely add it to our list. Top work 🍻
just checked Barmouth comes joint 13th on the which survey scale. i think the ratings system is absolute garbage. i mean real stinkers of places dont even get voted for so it hardly seems fair. a place has to be liked and voted for to even get on the list. For Skegness to come bottom and Bamburgh to come top just shows how skewed the list is! the which survey covers every aspect of life so it can be quite the place when looking for inspiration to argue against it! Ah we have so much love for Llandudno and really want to go back.Filey is not a patch on Llandudno! interestingly Llandudno is joint 8th (not a chance), Portmeirion in Gwynedd gets the award of best Welsh seaside resort! that lion does look like Aslan! regretfully I hadn’t packed sanitiser after using the gym, that was me not eating anything until we got back to the car! yes its a lovely walk to the Brigg and back, not too taxing but well worth it for the views at the end! yes im glad i didn’t need these toilets, they do have additional free toilets on the top of the Brigg which are pristine. by comparison both Whitby and Scarborough are removing more and more toilet facilities and charging more for the remaining ones. ♥️ 🍻
it was amazing there, so much to do. The gardens were amazing and the beach was fabulous. That compass was so cool. The muscle machine LOL, So awesome. You crack me up. It was beautiful to see the kite too. The water did look refreshing. And the views...amazing. Yes, the tide times are so vital.

ah thank you so much Bogi, it definitively has an old world charm about it. great for retirees or young families with toddlers. we love it but im not getting there is enough for people to do that don’t fall into those categories. at least its not Hornsea, we went there the other week, now that place needs a bomb dropping on it. video coming out in a couple of weeks 😱

Thanks so much for all your videos, I moved to Yorkshire a few years ago and I have been exploring many of the places you have covered in this series for the first time. I am really enjoying seeing your take on the British seaside towns. Filey quickly became a firm favourite for me, but I think largely because I tend to make day trips to the seaside with the goal of taking my shoes off and walking along the beach. With such a long expanse of beach to walk on when the tide is out, Filey is great for that. I also love that the beach still manages to feel quiet even on the busiest days, once you move away from the promenade. Next time I visit, I will make sure I check out those lovely gardens too after watching your video. Thanks again.
