Rainbow fish eat high protein in the wild so freeze dried, frozen, or live food is best. Avoid most flake foods as they are plant based. I like Omega One brand foods as well as Bug Bites. But the best foods cant make up for poor genetics. Most Boesemani in the hobby are from Florida farms and have lost their proper coloring turning more pale yellow and gray rather than the yellow orange and deep blue in the wild. A campaign to renew the bloodlines is underway let by master breeders so we may soon see this level of genetics return to the forefront.
