I was like 14-15 and listening through music (in Tallinn, Estonia) and I was instantly hooked when this came on. One of my favorite albums from that time, and I even saw them perform a bit later in Helsinki!

This is a perfect 10 record. Anytime I see the topic of best albums, this, Remain in Light, 13, and Kid A always boil to the top.
I haven't listened to much indie/alternative music so I don't have much of a reference point, but I can honestly say I cannot think of another song that this sounds like. This is totally novel to my ears, and I've felt that way since the first time I heard it well over a decade ago.
i agree. it's a unique sound but is still catchy, and that's pretty hard to come by nowadays.

Omg i just found out that this is the original one! I only knew Jason Bajada’s cover on his album Loveshit and thought he wrote it until I read he didn’t on the CD. Bajada’s version is much quieter than this tho

This song hits close to home. My father did everything he could so that I wouldn't end up with a dead-end job. He always wanted the best for me and also expected the best from me as well. He was exhausting to put it short. He spent 20 years working in the oilfield. Started his own carpet cleaning business. Retired and handed it to me. After he passed away, I sold the business and started working in the oilfield. The one thing he never wanted me to do. I miss him. He would be proud.

Mattydigs That's not a Wolf Parade album though; it's just Spencer Krug, not the rest of Wolf Parade. Having said that, Sunset Rubdown (the band name) is pretty damn good, with "Us Ones In between" being insanely good.
