    The central court with the yew tree is so beautiful. It'd been raining when I visited and the paving stones were glistening with water and the tree was vibrant and green. I love the indentations on some of the steps, signs of busy walkways used over and over, and I could imagine all the people who'd been and gone.

    I went there when I was a child. Over 25 years ago and i still remember it. This video brought me back. Also, that is one killer pen.

    Oh I wish I could go see this. Amazing to see the yew tree still standing! Thank you.

    Absolutely exquisite - just my taste. I would fly all the way to England to Yorkshire and stay in the area just to see this. I just love your musical pieces for this tribute to Skipton Castle.

      You'd love it. So many Tudor and medieval houses all between 30-60 minutes drive (or train journey). About an hour from York. I'm a Lancashire girl myself but love Yorkshire and can attest to the hospitality of Yorkshire folk.

      @@Golightly354 Why thank you! I have heard York is wonderful. I would love to see York and immediate surrounding areas. But I must see the Coltswolds as well to know I will visit at least once in my life.

      @@Wisdom-Nuggets-Tid-Bits Yes, quite lovely too. Especially Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford. Also, you can stay at Warwick Castle (home of the Kingmaker who fought in the Wars of the Roses) in one of the tower rooms. We also have something called 'Champing' which is 'camping in sort of luxury in medieval churches' i plan on doing this in summer. Mind you, you have plenty of gorgeous stuff in the States. Take care.

      @@Golightly354 Oh I would love to stay in the Warwick Castle. I need to study more about the Wars of the Roses - fascinating. That sounds delightful. The Champing sounds great as well. I am going to book a trip to London in the first half of July for a few days. If I am fortunate, I will be able to fit this in as well. However, I will not do any driving as I do not know how to drive the English style. I will be dependent upon trains, buses, cabs, and walking. That truly limits me. BLESS you for giving me such great landmarks. Hoping there are pubs around so I many enjoy that wonderful English cooking. I love hot tea.

    Wonderful. We love it here. The castle is amazing and the woods have a brilliant sculpture trail and in spring is overflowing with bluebells and wild garlic. Skipton is full of little alleys with independent shops and tea parlours and there are canal trips running from the marina. Us girlies from work go shopping there once every few weeks and always go for a boozy shopping expedition around the amazing Christmas Market. There are reasonable hotels AND it is very close to Haworth and visit the Bronte sisters house etc AND Grassington, which is a beautiful village where 'All Creatures Great and Small' was filmed. A beautiful, historic, broody yet pretty part of the country.

  • @ANNEKE1999

    Looks truly fascinating. And pretty cool that they kept the woods instead of chopping every tree into pieces.

    • @billybutlin7857
      @billybutlin7857 Рік тому

      Why not chop down the woods and that 350 year old tree for biomass, then we will be helping stop the climate crisis! Labour and WEF policy! Such a huge wasted space, just think how many immigrants that could house!

    I like seeing videos like this because this is the kind of place I'd like to go see if I ever get a chance to go to Europe.
    This doesn't seem like it would be the biggest tourist destination but it's such a well preserved piece of history

      When you're in a country full of places like this, tourists are evenly spread. No overcrowding, no feeling like you're adding to a problem, it's honestly great.

      You are within 30-60 minutes drive of Haworth, York, numerous Tudor and medieval houses, places where TV shows were filmed, not too much further to the Yorkshire coast and Whitby. there is also a wealth of industrial history. Great for a holiday whatever time of the year but particularly gorgeous at Christmas. Have a look at the ancient villade of Heptonstall in Hebden Bridge, only reached via an incredibly steep drive or walk through the woods. It was the setting for a film about the Cragg Vale Coiners who clipped and debased coins to supplement wages in the 1700s. It's called The Gallows Pole and the village hasn't changed at all. Still moody and quaint.
