No matter how much one thanks writer Gerry Conway and artists John V Romita and Ross Andru, it will never be enough to acknowledge these masters behind the creation of Punisher. The most notorious vigilante of Marvel Comics, it has been 47 long years since he made his first appearance in the 129th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man. One may not remember but back in 1974, the Punisher was essayed as an opponent to Spider-Man, before eventually going on to become one of Marvel’s most popular and successful characters.
Galvanized by the brutal death of his family at the hands of the mafia, Frank Castle, AKA the Punisher, literally wages a one-man war on crime, employing a diversity of methods and weapons.
From saving the world to destroying it, the Punisher has come quite a long way. Even by the dark standards of Marvel, he has had more than his fair share of enemies to take care of. Barracuda was my favorite. He and the Punisher had an especially interesting rivalry due to Barracuda being an ex-Green Beret and Castle being an ex-Force Recon Marine. But what about the craziest Punisher opponent... BULLSEYE?

Agreed. Jigsaw was really the only villain that the Punisher has left because he needs an archenemy. As driven as Frank is in his mission, that's how much hatred and toughness that Jigsaw has for him. Billy is unpredictable, but smart, whereas Frank is calculated. It's almost a Joker-Batman dynamic, but the biggest difference is that either side will literally do anything to kill the other.
That is definitely the biggest problem with making Punisher villains. You get something interesting and then they get some lead planted in their skull.

@@MILDMONSTER1234 is not a lie he did what he had to do, an example he protects the girl infected with the Barbossa virus so he was still a hero, yes he let the navy seal die in the winter but he saved the girl, ñest be honest a lot of the MAX universe antagonists were crazy mad as well I don't recall the punisher hurting an innocent for pleasure in the Nicky saga when he disarms two cops the media lie about going as far to make up the cops and putting them casts so I kinda disagree, was a Garth Enis style sure but he was not a serial killer.

@@odetojoy1663 Not really, I dunno If you read the MAX version of Punisher but he never kills for just killing yes the series has tons of monstrous villains but Frank Castle never goes serial killer Barracuda actually does and is imply he kinda rapes a couple of his targets, Nicky kills his own parents and sister but Frank Castle never kills for just the sake of it or enjoy, you can tell he does not enjoy killing but he has to kill.
Punisher had the most original gallery of villains. Jigsaw was a stereotypical bad guy megalomaniac, but Bushwhacker, the Gnuccis, the Bulats, the Russian, Cavella, Barracuda, the Holy, Cooley, Maginty... Just deranged psychopaths !
Can you imagine jon bearnthal's punisher going up against berracuda? That would be one hell of a brutal fight.

I like the Netflix storyline they gave Jigsaw but the should of scared his face more. But him being a friend that betrayed him is much better
True i thought about how they should’ve scarred his face more too bc Frank basically took him to the surgeon lol he put in work but then again for how realistic the show is the scars aren’t that bad. If I saw someone walking around with those scars I’d do a double take 👀 but still I still agree with you they should’ve added more scars considering how badly he was injured. If it was the MCU they would’ve cgi the hell out of his face 🤢
Nothing beats Dominic West *AND* his face is completely based in irony as he's *"Billy the Beaut"* so his mangled and destroyed face fits who he is on the inside finally letting him be who he really is.

Yeah, the scars of Jigsaw in that one Punisher movie (I can't remember what it was called. I think it was called Punisher Turf Wars) was a lot more brutal looking and disturbing
Honestly, I prefer his origin in this movie because being thrown through a window would not sloce your face up bit being thrown into a machine that shatters glass bottles that is activated with you inside probably would do that.
No that story line was terrible. He became jigsaw and literally did nothing the entire show, just to be shot at the end. Terrible. Netflix butchered punisher.
Yeah I watched Warzone as a teen and was waiting to see Billy's scars in season 2 and was extremely disappointed.

I loved Barracuda and the Russian. Some of the best villains the punisher has ever gone up against.
12:32 They adapted the Welcome Back Frank storyline where he goes after the Gnuccis into the 2005 Punisher game but they didn't have the bit where he sets polar bears on Ma in the zoo. They had a level where Bushwhacker kidnaps Joan to lure Frank there though.

You guys need to look into some imaginative surrealist movies if you haven't already. Lost City of Children (Ron Perlman speaking French, I mean com'mon), Brazil, The Fall, and many more need more love. Hell, even Zardoz is worth a look, especially with Sean Connery passing recently.

I was so pissed that netflix didn't put barracuda in the second season that I didn't watch it. Yeah it's pretty petty but he is one of my all time favorite comic book villains. He was like the perfect opposite of Frank Castle.
