You got some of things wrong.
1.) The Engineer is not a Cenobite. It is called an Engineer, and is catagorized as an Engineer.
2.) Angelique was never a human. She was never human from the very beginning. She was not transformed into a Cenobite. She is the daughter of Leviathon, the Princess of Hell. The cenobite form is her true form.
3.) The Female Cenobite does have a background. She is called Sister Cilice. She use to be a nun.
4.) Dr. Channard did not have an appendage on top of his head. That was one of Leviathan's tendrals. He is also the only cenobite to retain his memories of being human.
5.) Pinhead is known to be a High Priest of Hell, not the Chief.
Yup the engineer was a name of the protagonist in inferno if memory serves correct and I'm glad you said that about Angelic I always thought it was her true form an pinhead had nothing to do with her cenobite form. I'm sure the chatter beast was human to begin with but buggered if I can find it online tho lol
“Hell is more ordered since your time princess, and much less amusing.” Pinhead has the best lines in horror cinema.
It's a great líne, but in my opinion "Jesus Wept" define the franchise in my opinion.
Pinhead: Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. There is a secret song at the center of the world, Joey, and its sound is like razors through flesh.
Joey: I don't believe you.
Pinhead: Oh come, oh, you can hear its faint echo right now. I'm here to turn up the volume. To press the stinking face of humanity into the dark blood of its own secret heart.
“No tears please. It’s a waste of good suffering”
And they end his story, with him sitting on Earth as a Crazy homeless man, who’s crying and saying “the sweet suffering.”
They done Pinhead so dirty in Judgement
They done the whole series so dirty with that abomination of a “movie.”
Though the boy will not die here today, for a thousand years his dearest wish will be that he had.
Doug Bradley is irreplaceable, he gave Pinhead a regal persona at the same time a terrifying visage, I met him at a convention and he was the most nice and humble person one could meet, a true gentleman, excellent video!
Me too, I was so excited to meet him I accidentally stole his autograph.Obviously you know but for those that dont you basically you pay for the actual print of him and then he signs it and takes a picture. I was so excited after I met him I ran over to my girlfriend right after the photo like someone who just won the lottery. It wasnt until later that night I realized I forgot to pay for the photo and essentially stole it from him.
@@scotthuot8704 🤣 I know how it feels, I felt like a kid in a candy store! That's awesome that you got to meet him too.
He's not the only Pinhead. The hell priest is not one man; he is from a long line of them.Ffs I wish 'fans' would actually read the lore.
@@TerminusEst1982 Well most have seen only movies, maybe read the novel at best. Lot of them are unaware there are comics, mainly because they don't read them. That doesn't make them any less of a fan. You have to realize that not everyone is into comics. Or books while we're at it.
Agreed!! I’ve met Doug Bradley and Ashley Lawrence, and both are wonderful people! I refused to watch the other Hellraiser movies without Bradley in them.
How could you not mention that Chatterer was a young boy before his transformation!? Blasphemy.
mhxistenz that would require that whoever makes these videos actual be a fan and have watched the movies and done more research then looking up other peoples videos on the internet to rip off. :p

What about the fact that the “Female Cenobite” has a name. “Sister Cilice”
Call me petty but that is basic shit. Saved me the trouble of watching this video.
1) The Engineer
is NOT a "Cenobite"... Its a type of a creature known as an "Engineer" Even though this is the only one in the franchise depicted - More ARE known to exist.
2) Female Cenobite DOES have a name - Open/Deep Throat... Her human name was Sister Nikoletta.
3) Doug Bradley did NOT "retire". He refused to do 9 and 10 because of how bad the scripts were...
The hellraiser movie are the source of my Movie rule No. 5 "never solve a puzzle that opens the gates of hell"
There's a manga call berserk the God hand are based off cenobites but berserk you use a necklace instead of a puzzle its called egg of the king behelit
@@johnlawful2272 not every behelit is in the shape of a necklace, also the necklace wasn't the behelit... the behelit was the charm on Griffith's necklace...
The female cenobite does have a backstory she was a nun that was obsessed with sin and a man gave her the box she opened it and was taken to hell by a cenobite named gillard it was never mentioned a bunch but her nickname is fallen her fromer name was nikolita
@@BFBMTb the name was muttered among fans. Doesn't mean you have it wrong. Pinhead is known as the 'hell priest' however popular misuse led to Pinhead.
I’ve read versions that say the Chatter Beast was once a person who was tortured into a state of mental breakdown to the point of bestiality. That’s actually even more disturbing than a haemonculus made of human parts.
I love reading the backstories to all the Cenobites so can you tell me where you found that like the link or something please

This. Also garbage list, my one dumass click of the day. There’s just something about stripper DJ voice and cenobites that rub me the wrong way. That’s a pun. Also everyone knows the scariest cenobite is... the unholy Clickbaiter.
I use that line every time I get approached by those religion nuts wanting to preach about their God
Man cenobites especially the chatterer scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
The Female Cenobite’s nickname is Deep Throat. It was just considered inappropriate to openly write that down. Pinhead didn’t originally have a name. It’s just what we called him until it was official.
I really loved the Hellraiser comic which introduced even more Cenobites with very interesting backstories.
I have read Hellbound Heart and Scarlet Gospels, but want to read the comics. Any idea where I could find them?
@@cullenarthur8879 If memory serves me correctly, I believe Dark Horse Comics ran not only the Hellraiser series, but The Nightbreed as well and even tied in the two Clive Barker creations. I would check if your local comic book shop could locate them for you or try Amazon. Also check out Acid Glow's UA-cam page for more in depth history about the Cenobites and their history as well as Nightbreed, Predator, Aliens, and Lovecraft. Also just found out that Clive Barker has been in collaboration with Boom Comics creating new stories. Hope this helps.
@@cullenarthur8879 only add I can give to Steven is the two part comic book Jihad "Nightbreed vs Cenobites". Cool characters and back stories,
@@Steven_Williams thank you. I actually just read one of the comic series from Boom! It was the storyline where Kirsty became the new pinhead. I found it on my kindle. It was strange reading a comic book on kindle.

PAIN. How dare you use that word. What you think of as pain. Is only a shadow. Pain has a face allow me to show it to you.... I AM PAIN!
I love this franchise. Many people only praise first two films and yes, they're the best but I've always loved Bloodline (1996), Inferno (2000) and Deader (2005) too
I loved Hellraiser 3 and 4 too. I just love how creative they got with the cenobites on screen. You should check out Judgement that came out a few years ago. It's disturbing but in a good way that has a story and everything that happens has a purpose towards that story.
Hellraiser 3 is the only one in the series that tried to include a little bit of comedy like the elm street and chucky series, i loved the comical cenobites like the one with CD's in his head and he kills people with the CDs throwing them like mini frisbees
I recently watched 1-8 of the hellraiser series and I really enjoyed all of them
Deader is great. I tracked down the original DVD for the bonus materials.
It's strange that the female Cenobite never got an official nickname, I had always referred to her as Whisper due to how her voice sounded
One of the actresses that played her wrote an unofficial backstory for her and named her 'Scilliece' (after a spiked garter worn by members of Opus Dei the Catholic sect which was also featured in the Davinci Code film as a device for self mortification and punishment for one of the characters who was a monk) Her back story is that she was a nun obsessed with sin and the purging of fleshly desires who was given the lament configuration by one of the servants of Leviathan to fully realise her potential and ambitions..
My first ever job in 1988 was working in a theatre in Hertfordshire, UK on a week stint of the UK tour of Little Shop of Horrors. Simon Bamford - Butterball Cenobite - played Seymour Krelbourn. Top fella, and remember him running around the stage with my twin sister upside down over his shoulder in a fireman's carry, yelling, 'penny a smack ' . Simon has the most amazing voice. Brilliant fun times 🤣🤣🤣
Sounds like an awesome experience.
I've never heard anybody mention that penny a smack thing before haha. My family did that when me and my sis were young-uns. . Thought it was always a goofy thing from my family/area. Cool to know it's not!
Man, come on! She does have a name: The “female” cenobite’s name is “Sister Cilice”. Look it up bro.
I thought the original female cenobite was originally Nicoletta, aka Deepthroat
Like xsinyxx I have heard "Gash" also in the comics she goes by "Dark Priestess" (Pinhead being the Dark Priest)
Pinhead: Noo!!
Female cenobite: no???
Pinhead: NOOOOO!!!!
Pinhead: “ It is not hands that call us, it is desire!!!
@@fredzzkid one of my other ones is from Hellraiser Inferno:
They say...Hunt for the Engineer..and the Engineer will hunt you!!
i always felt cenobites were visually the way they were due to how they were tortured by other cenobites after entering the box. that torture carried into death where it influenced their new look/form. this idea carries well in part 1 and 2. it deviates in the made for video sequels. they became regular stretched faced monsters in latex spandex.
"We will tear your soul apart"
Classic. "Do I look like one who cares what God thinks?"
"Who said all pets are cute?"
Nobody.
No one had ever said that.
That's not a things people say.
Pinhead and Kirsty are so awesome🤘🏻 I always wondered though if he had a thing for Kirsty considering he saved her a couple of times lol I love this horror series 🤘🏻🖤
I always assumed, it’s because she’s innocence, a Virgin, and close as to without sin as any human could be organically. She was a prize position, she was Pinheads Virgin Mary.. somebody he salivated over the thought of torturing, a rarity.
The comics reveals her fate, the audiobook, 'The Toll'; he has a thing for her even though she can sense cenobites interference in the human world, from being around them so much.
You are tearing my your soul apart Lisa!!!

Something the narrator left out for Pinhead. The grid was never meant to be a permanent part of the makeup. It was originally just meant to help the makeup department with the pins placement. But the grid looked so good they decided to keep it.
It would have been interesting if you mentioned WHY they are the most powerful. Even though it's always interesting to see different lists I would have liked a little more in-depth analysis of the various cenobites
Thank you for sharing 🦋
Great break down
"Quit playing tricks with me child or your suffering will be legendary, even in hell." That's the most memorable quote I remember from Pinhead.
It's "Trick us again child, and your suffering will be legendary.........Even in Hell"
Right before Kirsty showed Pinhead a picture of him as a human
Doug Bradley really fits the role of Pinhead. He also acted in so many horror movies so I guess he's into that genre.
Thanks for this great video 👍
I really enjoyed this Thanks…
I was hoping for a little more back story on Chatterer, my favorite cenobite. It was briefly shown in Hellbound that he was a child before becoming his wretched self. Nonetheless, great video.
Pinhead: you’re suffering will be legendary, even in hell.
Me: Nah, I’ve already seen Hellraiser Judgement one times too many.

Hoooweeee! Loved it!
I'm happy that my favorite cenobite has his own pet dog.
The chatterer's full back story is one of the more truly tragic ones among the cenobites

The Chatterer is a child who was talkative in class that played with the box. It was implied in part 2 i think, when they show a quick flashback of a kid with the box.
I loved _Hellraiser_ 1 and 2, 3 and hell, even 4 maybe! For the art direction, the photography, the concepts, the cenobites... After that, tho... Well, it's a debacle. True Hell. I met "Pinhead" at a sci-fi festival. He refused to say any of the lines and I understand him.
Hellraiser, and Clive Barker in general, had a huge impact on my early life. Met Doug Bradley and got a signed pic I cherish. Just recently bought my first home and a section of it is dedicated to horror, Hellraiser in particular. Now to get another nice Lament Configuration replica and place it under a glass dome.

Whatever you may think about the Hellraiser later movies, a lot of the practical effects are impressive
I believe Pinhead was called The Priest in the original novels. 'No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.'

Pinhead will always be my fave. Good looking and rocks the whole see look
When I was a little girl I thought I named all of them myself . I was 3 when the first movie came out and I loved it Dont know why my parents let me watch it but I loved pinhead and Freddy kruger ALL MY LIFE.
Same here! My dad loved Pinhead in the 80s, & let me watch all these horror movies.
There's something healthy that happens when you let a kid watch horror movies. Mine did and it somehow removed my fear of the dark, and consequently I slept better for obvious reasons. I too loved pinhead and freddy, but as a child, chatterer was my favorite. I think I just liked the resemblance to the xenomorphs.
A really big HELL YEA, keep making these videos for horror fans like me
The actor he played Dr Channard did an excellent job and doesn’t get the credit he deserves for portraying one of the creepiest monsters in history. The character of Channard should’ve been featured again as well
“Go on... but trick us again child, and your suffering will be legendary - even in Hell!”
That never made sense to me. They crave experience, so why wouldn't they do everything to everyone regardless of reason?
cenobites: bdsm cranked up to eleven ^^
Why would you ever think that? :D
BDSM is about the voluntary transfer of power from one person to the other. There is literally nothing like that in any of these movies. The closest you're gonna get is that they dress in leather.
So do the guys in the Blue Oyster bar, but strangely I don't see anybody calling them cenobites......j/s

I really hope they make a series based on the scarlet gospels. I dont feel a movie would do it justice. I firmly believe the opening scene in the book should be left untouched just to show how powerful hell priest is now after learning all the magic.
Doug Bradley went on to make special guest appearances with Cradle of Filth on quite a few of their songs. Seriously, check out the song “The Death of Love”. It’s a masterpiece.
1 and 2 are the only films that exist for me. Done and over with. Oh and Doug Bradley's retirement. That's an interesting way to put it.

The Hell Priest is Pinheads title! Angels to some demons to others is the description of the depiction of the cenobites as their appearance and behavior is judged by how warped one's soul truly is. A wonderfully wicked way to keep sides of whats truly good vs truly evil as the cenobites only come to those who seek them and have spared truly innocent life to make sure they take the wicked!
Hellraiser is easily the most horrifying film in cinema. I had months of anxiety and nightmares after watching the first one.
I remember watching Hellraiser 1 and 2 as a kid. The movies creeped the hell out of me.
Hellraiser was one of my favorites back then
A remake of the series needs to be made. The Cenobites need to have more action involvement as well. Such a shame that the original series spun out movie after movie instead of taking time to improve on the stories to the audience it captured. Granted for those who don't know, in order to keep the name brand locked to specific companies involved, these movies had to be rushed which I get. But it's just a shame. Hellraiser in my mind (if redone correctly) could be one of the most received horror titles of all time.
I know this channel cover's only movies but should cover the short lived hellraiser comic book series from the 90's and it's cenobites.
The chatterer looks like a skinny version of Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 which might be why he's my favorite of them all
“Jesus....wept.” Not a Cenobite line, but the scene gave me nightmares.
Why did he say that tho? Lol. I actually Googled that a few weeks ago. Why did Frank say "Jesus wept"?

Nah Pinhead returned for all 6 films after 2 so he's the supreme being.
The doctor still kicked his ass and the rest of the Cenobites easily in part 2
@@jamespope7669 just popularity that is it but in a fight he is not number one
What supposedly happened - although many people didn't read the scene deep enough to realize it - was that the girl tricked Pinhead into being defeated (not knowing that Channard would be an even more cruel threat). Pinhead had the Doctor... well... *pinned* for defeat, held in his hooks and possibly set for his trademark throat slit (i imagine) but then the girl made Pinhead experience humanity, by revealing who he used to be. That realization stripped Pinhead of his powers and converted him back to human (hey, i don't make these rules!!) placing him as an easy target. Therefore, since there was outside interference, along with the fact Pinhead was no longer a cenobite when he was killed, i don't think it should count as "victory" for Channard. But, of course, it all depends on each one's perspective of a fair fight.
