In our fourteenth AME Podcast, we continue our quest to serve artistic excellence through a conversation with Dave Detwiler, tubist, bassist, pastor, and researcher. Dave, starting in elementary school as a tuba player very early in his life, has had this passion to connect to music, make music, and now research music on subjects that peak his interests. Dave found himself researching the original sousaphone, subcontrabass tubas, Patrick Gilmore’s Band, and so on, just to name a few areas of his motivation to bring clarity and truth to his questions. Through this podcast you will see the motivation, connection, and how he talks about music. Dave’s energy occurs when he wants to ‘strike the iron hot’ as he enjoys honoring topics in this early American Band Era. Dave believes music is our gift in which he loves to create. Humans need this creativity as it sticks with you and becomes part of your heart. Therefore, Dave brings that love of music through research and also by being a part of the music making experience with others while providing the truth and clarity he strives for within creativity.
