Excelente versión! Me encantó! Tu voz es hermosa y cantaste el tema tal como debe ser cantado! Mis más entusiastas felicitaciones! Y pienso que te mereces el acompañamiento de toda una orquesta! Saludos cordiales desde Argentina!
Thank you! This version was just coming out of COVID lockdowns. Seamus' voice teacher (Zoom lessons during COVID) found a church willing to let her small studio put on a show for friends and family. We (Seamus' Mom and Dad) hadn't herad him sing live for a year or more. It was a treat for us, too.
Thank you, Jared. Seamus' Dad here--Seamus is "on Tour" (4 day trip, one show. College life is grand, I guess :-) ) with the Cornell Hangovers at the moment. Stick with your efforts. Best wishes for your success!
Who ever is playing piano should learn it is not a race! This young man has a marvelous instrument that he is not getting them mileage out of this brilliant song because of some second rate piano player. He has a wonderful gift, and I hope he continues to study and allow it to grow.
Seamus' Dad here. Thanks again. The accompanists in college are pretty good, but the venues are taking some getting used to. Some of the halls just swallow up any performer. Spring Will Be So Sad: ua-cam.com/video/vRsZYT0Qx5E/v-deo.html
I agree. In general, the pianist plays at the rate the vocalist requests. We don't know the circumstances of this performance, but there could have been a time limit, which occurs in many competitions. The Broadway version of My Fair Lady has this song go on for triple the time of the version presented here. On televised competitions, the first performance rounds allow the vocalist only 90 seconds per song. As competitors get eliminated, the time available for each number increases. So I would guess that this is either rehearsal for a competition or an audition with a time limit.
@@susantescione8007 Thank you for your perceptive comment. While it was not a competition, there was a time limit on the venue, and all the performers were high school age or younger, so the accompanist set the tempo to meet the time limit. Although, if someone does not know the origin of the song, it is surprising how well it fits a pop/faster tempo 🙂
Thank you! This is Seamus' Dad. Unfortunately Cornell, Seamus' college, does not have a musical theater program. The vocal program focuses on classical repertoire, and his accapella group does mostly popular music. Still, he does sneak in the occasional stage song: What Do I Need With Love: ua-cam.com/video/0gbLAR9Wr2w/v-deo.html
@@simeonm1215 Thank you for your instructive comment! Seamus was a junior in high school when this performance took place. He is getting more assertive now that he is in college, and understanding better the roles of soloist and accompanist.

@@sardine56 The results are in, Seamus is attending Cornell University. And, he auditioned for and was accepted into the Cornell Glee Club, and the Cornell Hangovers. As far as male tenor/bass singing goes, those are the two best known groups on campus. So, we will be hearing from him, in some manner, for a couple of more years :-)
A suggestion always go back and listen to the original. You have a wonderful gift, but could be a little more adventurous with the allowance of the swelling of the sound (like Lenard Weir, the original Freddie Einsford Hill was on Broadway) when he gets to "And Oh.." That is such a wonderful moment, and it takes guts to trust your voice to cresendo with such a glorious swell in your voice. Don't best your head over things like this, but try them out and who knows it can lead to much discovery and amazement.
Seamus’ Dad here. Thank you for your kind comments. This performance was part of a small, “family and friends-only” recital put on for 18-20 middle and high school students who had not had a chance to perform in front of a live audience for 18 months due to COVID restrictions. Lots of nerves on everyone’s part, including the accompanist (who played for each of the participants). Outside of his school chorus teacher and his voice teacher, no one (not even his mother and I) knew how Seamus’ voice developed during the COVID restrictions until he earned a part in his high school’s musical during his senior year. The musical had been cancelled the previous two years. Here is a sample: ua-cam.com/video/buwB15eNjN4/v-deo.html (Bring Him Home) Seamus was fortunate to be admitted to Cornell University. @@LarsensSyndrome Oh, I do know this is from My Fair Lady, a personal favorite of mine. I actually have the Broadway version on my playlist.

The accompanist MUST follow the singer. Assert yourself! I'm a tenor soloist and have great collaborative artists!

This is the normal tempo for the song.
This song should be sung by a young voice, not too polished ...
You need a singing lesson, buddy. Several.
Not a good arrangement all to fasr
NOT THE BEST OF VOICES.
