Man i remember this one time, my friend Derek and I where on the side of my house and we where just swearing into flipnotes and when we came into my house, somehow this flipnotes were downloaded into my dads xbox 360, and created the most awkward moment of my life

When I was a kid, I always wondered how people made these on their DS’s.
A crap ton of time and effort. I used to try and make Flipnotes when I was a kid but none of them looked professional cause I didn’t know how to draw 😭
Honestly it makes me wonder how many of these people went on to be actual animators. Cause some of these people had serious talent
I literally put a "pls move" sign in one of mines thinking that it will animate by itself lol
Even today I still have no idea how they did it. It's several hundred frames, some with great detail. I can't imagine many experienced animators stayed on there either

I remember the night that hatena was shutting down and it was the first time I had ever stayed up until midnight. This site meant so much to me as a kid and its so nice to see other people felt that way too.

Angel On FlipaClip Might have just been placebo, but there were some flips with genuinely clear audio. I dunno how it was recorded, cuz I could never get results like that.

XhaanFilms You could, but I thought that worked in very small 10 second clips. Unless people are *really* good at stitching those together in the app (it’s not easy lol), I dunno that that’s how it was done. Could be, I suppose.

Tbh hatena was a time capsule in of itself because people animate slowly and most of the stuff is from people who havent had much access to youtube so their memes were outdated.
I was definitely not ready for the wave of nostalgia that hit me when I clicked on this video. Hatena was such a simpler time, and I'll forever treasure the memories of when I used to post my Flipnotes and watch other people's Flipnotes on there. Looking back on my old Flipnotes today, I don't think most of them were the best, but that doesn't matter. The important thing is that I had fun making them :)

My DSi XL is still functional except there’s a slight problem with reading the games. It can be countered though, it just gets annoying.
