12 Gauge Shotgun Shell Plug Earrings

- I saw some shotgun shells in the bed of a truck, and really liked the look of the brass. I somehow figured they would make some cool looking plug earrings for one of my friends.
This is the quick and dirty on how I made some in about 20 minutes or so. I chucked up a dremel cutting wheel in my drill press to get a consistent cut height. I then used superglue and kicker to glue them together. Next I tripple sealed the gaps with super glue.
Last I buffed the front of the plugs with a chucked up dremel buffing wheel.
This was pretty easy, and pretty fun. These guys end up being 20mm so if you have large gauge holes, give it a go!

7 seconds....couldn't get away from the music fast enough!
I’ve got 7/8s in now, I used to have inch and a half but they fell out and I stopped caring and let them shrink for a year. I’m wondering what size shells I’d need to buy to make myself a pair. I know the Walmart near me has boxes of shells sitting out so I’ll probably just go out there tomorrow and place my current plugs next to a shell to see which one is closest
Believe it or not I picked up these shells out of the back of a truck LOL. I'd say check the parking lot while you are at Walmart LOLOL
I don't see how you put a backing on so they can be put in your ear lobes?
Christine, I took two of the brass casings and glued them together back to back. If you look close the face of the casing has a bit of a lip, so since it has this lip on either side it keeps the earring in place when put in.
Very cool!
+Eric Chunn Thanks man. They were actually pretty fun to make.
What size would these be?
12 g slug measures 18.5 mm diameter, I'm actually making a pair right now and while the epoxy is curing I figured I'd go check out some other people's techniques to making them
Lose the music
