I've got one... been trying to fix the audio on it for too long, as well as it ended without being complete 🙃 But im gonna post it anyways I've decided
Great discussion guys! I really gotta thank Mark for getting me interested in this series, I loved book 1. SPOILERS from here on I also loved Marith. He was amazing to read, seeing both sides of him, and the way it could've gone. I find it worthy to point out that he didn't just go from wanting to be with Thalia to snapping. There was a point where he felt content and considered just going away somewhere with her - it was after Tobias pushed him into his drug again and he and Thalia were dragged thoughout the country on a death march that that happened. So partly, Tobias is to blame for everything that happened after that point :D I had an even more intense surprise with Marith because when I first kills the bandit, I somehow got the vibe that he is scared for his life and then kills the dude. These violent killing scenes also often in fantasy happen when someone has their first battle experience. Since he was so timid and sweet before, I thought that could be it. And then when he later kills his companion out of nowhere that was like whaaat, damn :D
The Court of Broken Knives is such an underappreciated and unique story, can't wait to see more people talk about it and I'm really looking forward to reading what the next two books have in store for Marith. I love having discussions like this. This a was good time...🔥👍
Hearing the dragon discussion - Mark you gotta read Rage of Dragons. Don't know if CK already talked to you about that one before, but it's an amazing series. It's fast paced with sometimes almost non-stop action, gritty af, has a single POV character thats hellbend on revenge and brutal, yet someone you can identify with, interesting lore and magic - and the dragons in that one are just forces of nature. Killing machines that bring havoc wherever they go. Going by what I know about your taste from reviews, this series has a lot that you should love.
@@slowlyred2082 Glad I could return the favor for once! Funny thing, I just checked out David's channel and his two most recent videos are about that series as well. So you got another reference right there ;)
I almost wish I had a UA-cam just so I could have been in this discussion since I had so many feelings after reading this hahah...ok onto the video. I'll comment again
I like dragons but I always think dang there are so many ways to get creative with creatures and everybody always does dragons. And wolves, which are both cool, but come on... That's one of my favorite parts in Malazan that Eriksons does dragons differently, but there are shapeshifters, intelligent dinosaurs with sword hands, alien-like creatures with multi-jointed limbs, giant-like, orc-like beings that are twisted beyond recognition and all kinds of other shit. I wanna see some sabre-toothed giant cats instead of wolves for a change or sentient thunder clouds and sentient man-eating, hypnotizing plants... If could write a book, I'd do it
Just a few comments Spoilers below Fuck Tobias Also I think there was something tormenting Marith before he killed his friend because he was definitely an addict before that I don't think it was 100% instalove because there are several times that Thalia thinks about leaving but then she sees him again and can't pull away and so I definitely wonder if the "beautiful" is more of some kind of mind control that she's especially weak against And Can't wait for more!!!
SPOILERS AS WELL Yeah, fuck Tobias. I want the guy dead so hard. Regarding Marith, it was aluded to that his friend kinda pushed him into the addiction to some degree. Weird to write since you already read book 2 and I didn't, but fun to speculate :D
@@chuckyscookie5323 I meant there was something before that because he was always saying make it go away or something like that. I'm probably reading too much into it though
I've been thinking about reading The Empires of Dust, so it's awesome to hear you two discussing it. Thanks!
Would love to hear your thoughts 😉
This was AWESOME! Really enjoyed the discussion with David! 👏👏👏
Great points. Your initial review made me start the series. Cheers!!!!!
Would love to see this kind of discussion format on Prince of Nothing trilogy

Without spoiling anything book 2 and 3 are even better
Loved this book. So many books to read but I hope to fit book two in next month at some point though if not I'll definitely be reading it come May.
I haven’t read yet but I’ll come back to this when I have. 😁

You got a web cam to do zoom meetings? Don't have to run a channel to be part of the discussion 😉
Haha that would be awesome. 100 percent what Mark said. 😀
Oh also I'm reading book 2 in April probably week 2

Well, now I want to read a story about sentient thunder clouds. lol. Imagine stormchasers, but the storm is chasing them... 😅
I want to read this book too !!👍
