I think all gardeners go a little crazy in January! I am at the top of the zones for a ninebark, but I purchased Tiny Wine Physocarpus after seeing it at P. Allen Smith's home in Arkansas several years ago. It does much better in a pot and stays pretty small. Mine declined after I planted it in the ground, and I finally dug it up and put it back in a pot this spring. It has a few foliage sprigs, so maybe I can revive it. I put my amaryllis outside every summer and lift them in the fall. Last year, I pulled them out of the put in mid-November and placed the bare bulbs in a pot in my windowless storage room off my garage. Of course, I forgot about them until I noticed bloom stalks on these bare bulbs about 3 weeks ago. At that time, I potted them up and have enjoyed the blooms indoors. I think you can lift them sooner (August?) if you want to replant them for Christmas bloom. I prefer my amaryllis to bloom in January and February after all the Christmas decorations are packed up .

I have wanted the Pink A Blue Pulmonaria for a long time too! Love that plant! Still have never seen it in garden centers in North Texas. I did, however, find Pink Chablis Lamium just this past Saturday at Calloway's Little Elm in case any of your local viewers would like to buy it! PW plants are also on sale at Calloway's until tomorrow, so it would be 20% off! For your Amaryllis, they will LOVE being outside during spring and summer! I actually did an experiment and planted mine in the ground last spring, and it thrived during spring and summer, and it survived the winter in a sheltered location and is blooming prolifically right now!!

Maybe you have some notes in your January part of your journal to jog your memory on the new plants. I use most of those in shade, so possibly you were thinking of your shade garden.
I've started to step away from online ordering, but I will if it's a plant I can't seem to get here, like you did with the alstroemeria.

Then you opened your new plants and there’s my Alstromeria and Pink a Blue which I bought last year and loved so much I ordered more of this year. (Not sure the Alstroemeria will come back in my zone 6b but I couldn’t resist.). Then you pulled out El Niño and you blew my mind. I have bought from Proven Winners for 3-4 years now. Each year I try to cut back on my order size; as I find more and more selection at my local Garden Centers. I do however order a few plants that I can't live without and I stress that the delivery needs to be timely as I've seen some orders take over 7+ days and that's pretty hard on the plants. This year I got Bit of Honey, False sunflower. Prairie Winds Lemon Squeeze. Drops of Jupiter oregano. Firefly Peach Sky yarrow. El Brighto Coleus. Superbena Sparkling Amethyst. Diamon Snow Euphorbia and Lemon Coral sedum. These plants just add to the selection that I can find locally or that I start from seed. I'm a huge fan of Proven Winners, they are great performers in the garden or containers. It's just that shipping that can take a toll on the young plants. Good luck in the garden, I can tell you've been super busy this year!! 💚🤍

My tiny wine ninebark has done great in zone 7b New Mexico. I think if you give it enough water and some afternoon shade it will do fine for you. I bought it for foliage accents in arrangements but I learned you sacrifice the beautiful vase shape of the bush if you prune it, and I LOVE its graceful shape.

I also forget what I have ordered in winter. I've had a tiny wine ninebark for 3 years. I'm in 7b (Md/Dc) and it has done beautifully in full sun. Last year I tried bringing 2 amaryllis back. One made it and one didn't. The one that made it was enormous and has put out several bulblets. This year I am going to try 6. I also had trouble pulling them out of containers and have plenty of dead leaves. Last year I forgot to fertilize so I need to remember this year. You're right they are ridiculously expensive. Goodluck with yours. Love the container.

I have a huge collection of amaryllis they do well in containers mine have side shoots so they keep multiplying I’m zone 9b/10 so I keep mine outside and come back with a new flower every year I have tried letting them go into dormancy and got a second bloom in a year it’s too bad they only bloom once or twice a year when not in bloom I tuck them away somewhere in the garden not to visible and show them off when in bloom ❤

Alstroemeria also known as the inca lily is one of my favorite flowers here in South Africa. It needs hardly no attention and just gives and gives. Important to dead head to get more flowers. Dead head by pulling the stem right from the bottom. Do not cut flowers on the stem just pull from the bottom. Amazingly hardy against frost even black frost. divide when the plant is a few years old. I tried with young plants and they battled for a long time. I have the tiger lily which is the same as yours and a beautiful yellow one. Be careful when you buy from the nursery as you get a short and long stem variety. Much love Amanda

Pulmonaria is one of my favorite shade plants. I have one that is waking up.. about 2 inches out of the ground now and at least 5 years old. I divided it and now have 4 more to plant up. It’s such a lovely plant when it blooms and then the foliage gets to show off for the rest of the season. Mine does tend to get powdery mildew toward end of season.. but then most of my garden does.. Im 5b/6a coastal southern maine. I watched for the amaryllis😊 I kinda fell in love with them this past winter and got 5 varieties that are so far doing there post bloom thing.
