The Arizona Department of health should be investigating this. Literally hundreds of people have gotten sick down there since May
It’s a natural spring? What do you expect them to do? People will still go anyway with warnings. Natural springs have parasites and cause sickness all the time
That’s asking them to actually go out and do their job! How dare you!
@@ImAyBeast, of course they should do whatever their job is
Well yeah. That water is full of parasites. Who in their right mind decides to drink the water there.
All it takes is one person to poop in the river upstream.
Yup😬
😂😂😂😂😂😂😮😮😮😢😢
Got caught up shits creek
Watching this while I’m violently sick from food poisoning, going through hell rn
Never had food poisoning myself. I wish you speedy recovery
@@Skylersteel you are one lucky chap

I have visited havasupai campground over many years and have seen several unsanitary practices and conditions which tourists are not aware of. On one visit I saw disposable diapers bobbing around in the river above the falls. On another more recent visit I witnessed the helicopter, which had just flown garbage out of the canyon, washing its net by dipping it into the river.
Good Grief
People have been getting sick down there since mid May
Nature is healing 😂 all these soft idiots need heli rescue people with tummy problems 😭
Have they not tested the waters yet ?
Dengue mosquito has been altered my husband had same symptoms along with a few others here in Quartszite Arizona
You hiked with 104 F? 40C? Amazing. 😳
Sounds extreme, but that's a dry heat. 104 with humidity would be unbearable.
@@twp3029 its not always a dry heat? yesterday was 117 degrees with 40% humidity
Most people try to start the hike before sun rise to avoid the heat
@@brandon350440% is pretty dry.
Hate to get the bill for the helicopter ride. Indian tribes in AZ are known to carry Shigella as a natural bowel flora with no symptoms.
Hmmm a recent flight had the same symptoms a few week ago, majority of all passengers suddenly became ill.

This should come as no surprise. The tribe council is just barely marginally competent in managing the area. This includes frequent power outtages and haphazard responses to frequent flash floods. The porta-potties down at the campgrounds have always been a disgrace. We knew about theses problems ahead of time and opted to stay in the "lodge". You don't get sick if you have potable water and a flush toilet. And, stick to packaged foods that don't need refrigeration. Unfortunately, they are really gouging people for basically a standard hotel room ($750 per night). Back when we visited, it was around $150 (2006). The year we went, there was a murder of a Japanese tourist. The air was filled with bad juju. Seeing the drug addicts waiting outside of the methadone clinic in the dumpy village was just part of its "charm". The waterfalls are beautiful but hardly worth the bother and expense. And, things just seem to be getting worse with each new year.
No drinking or ingesting water from that river.
Havasu falls had nothing to do with your sickness,,,

@@scottleggejr oh they’re already busy making new vaxes while Fauci enjoys multimillionaire retirement.
🤣 @@scottleggejr
Norovirus is in fecal and vomit matter of an infected person. And it gets amazingly airborne in the driest places. Especially with lots of people traveling the same trail. The type of conditions where every step there is a silica dust cloud lingering is same condition a sick person leaves their waste to become airborne as it dries out and gets stepped in.
I have had the norovirus, and it is shocking how quickly it comes on. It is a vomiting marathon that can make you feel like you are about to pass out immediately. It definitely feels like a "violent illness". I cannot imagine walking in that heat with those symptoms.
Ever wonder what's upstream of where you are?
It’s not uncommon for people to get sick from natural spring water
Good reporting, Unfortunately, your editor threw clips together of whatever to try to make it interesting. No map, no reference given. Most could not find the place on a blank map. Too bad you had no one in the studio who knew the area.
Yessss I agree. Reporting these days is horrible!
Gets old not having real journalism anymore doesn't it? True news is a thing of the past.
You're angry because they didn't give directions on how to get to where these sick people are? 😂 It's here: 36.2551476, -112.6979523
Dead deer or cow or something in the water upstream?
Testing the water in two weeks? Really? And the CDC is also involved?🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Right that’s seizure temps OMG
Stop pooping in the water🤣🤣🤣🤣
I did a river trip down that river, they require all ppeps to piss in the water, and to poo in wag bags….there is nowhere to go…
Boil the water and bring water filters....pretty basic stuff for real hikers...that site is crowded so alot people coming from out of the state dont know this
Just bring water with you
Who is drinking the water???
Please don’t gooo!!!!!!!!

I got hit with a weird bug last week. Fever, body aches, for no apparent reason.
Me too!
My hypothesis is someone had a violent under water diarrhea explosion.
Someone pooped in the pool. 😮
The bathrooms down in the canyon at the campgrounds are Nasty. It's all about making as much money as Possible. They don't care about anything else.
they are also racist to outsiders and tourists
Did they drink the water from the falls itself? In the Yuma area there are snails that are causing problems...
Whats happening in Yuma with the snails

Stop hiking in the heat. There its solved
Hiking in the heat wasn’t the issue. They consumed something. We’re missing something.
@Dee-ye2dk no they didn't. They didnt all eat or drink at the same things. Dozens of people getting sick means it's the heat. Its the only common variable unless the water was contaminated.
@@StopWars420 so the heat caused people to poop themselves and vomit. Sounds like they’re not built for it………………..people in the Middle East and Africa don’t have that issue. Much hotter there.
She said a virus…..you don’t contract a virus from the sun.
@@StopWars420more than likely they consumed a bad water source. Which is what the hikers aren’t telling us. You don’t contract a virus or those symptoms from the heat. Overheating doesn’t align with GI issues. You wouldn’t even be able to walk or see straight if the body overheats

At this place? Likely heat exhaustion, prominent warning about dehydration risk in that area. While GC among most captivating, precious, & resplendent features on Earth, yet rugged, remote, risky & hazardous areas that many people don't respect or prepare, so doubt GC inherent source of infectious disease when was once pristine but since contaminated as people will introduce those issues among other risks & hazards. So unsure about ethics & competence of those involved or report this incident, but extreme dehydration is serious risk that encompass those symptoms & could easily proceed heat exhaustion & stroke ... beside those concerns, while unsure about their respective hygiene & sanitation practices, as food safety along with waste treatment also issues introduced with people which will contaminate water beside deteriorate & toxify environment. I really hope they keep investigating this and get to the bottom of it. Obviously something isn't right
Could it be all the chemicals they spray in the air and now its in our water system
If a bear poos in a river and no ones around to see it, does it make a hospital bill?
Curse
yikes
It's in the air for sure
Not always the water. Could be coming from the dirt.
When I was there, I just drank out of the river But all the people were where were with were like little girls had to go find water out of clean pipes
People are dropping like flies from the heat
Not to point fingers but I know some of the residents don’t like the hikers but most hikers don’t clean up after themselves and it is so sad seeing so many people there who do not follow the rule of packing there trash or some gear out. Entitled brats who think they can just do whatever they want.
The CDC should be involved!
It's the poo in the water virus....
They plan to test again in 2 weeks? There should be someone from the CDC right there right now. Dude. Wtf?
Could it be sulfuric acid? It could be the hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide emitting a poisonous gas?
They need to check for Valley Fever. It's a fungus
Low rainfall could mean the groundwater has been affected by giardia !
Radiation there literally Unranium mining in that area.
It was probably food that they ate. It was 105°. If you don’t keep your food cool don’t cook it thoroughly. You’re going to get sick common sense.
Dried foods would be the only option for me. I am a food snob. I have so many rules about what is edible or not. I don't eat anything that looks sketchy. I would rather starve than get sick.
Yellowstone is super close: the metals from a calderas or waste run of from Vegas, is my guess flr illness.
The Tribe has not done anything to warn people who are getting ready to go down there.
I'm curious...🤣😂🤣...have you ever heard of self accountability at all?
They don’t need to warn anyone it’s not their issue the people are the issue
didn’t we give them infected blankets like 100 years ago
Not thier problem
They had it closed for a while after covid and it should’ve stayed closed. Besides the positive side of bringing in money from tourism. Those are sacred grounds not for lolly gagging
They should close it
Probably got sick from them price gouging. It used to be 100 to camp. Now it's almost 500. That's how you push people into sneaking in.
We don't know but we all flew home. We learned absolutely nothing fromthe pandemic right! Large number people gey sock no problem. No problem fly home .

FDR contracted polio swimming in cantaminated park water. WARNING: Always be wary of fresh water oases which attract large numbers of tourists from throughlut the world.

Diphtheria doesn't have those symptoms.
Stuck? They weren't stuck... they went there voluntarily. 😂 The trail didn't just materialize out of nowhere locking them into another dimension. They went hiking and didn't respect that mother nature is a natural killer, and didn't know how to hike safely.
How would you like to hike up a 9 mile trail while vomiting and having diarrhea? Because that is what was happening. There were literally hundreds of people sick down there. People were standing in line waiting for the helicopter vomiting everywhere.
@@Starfish2145 All you're saying is there were hundreds of naive city folks that believe everything they see on the travel channel. 😆 Amazon and Temu are not your friend in the great out yonders. And the media is exaggerating, those weren't hikers they were tourist. Big difference -huge!
And one of the TOURIST literally said the water was so blue you didn't need a filter to drink it. And She probably told the others this too, and right now she and all the other tourist are probably packed with intestinal worms. 😆 listen walking a mile on your treadmill at planet fitness does not graduate anyone up to walking 9 miles in a raw, harsh wilderness; untrained people die out there.
