Experience The Sights And Sounds Of Sheep Farm Life!

- Get ready to experience the loud and enthusiastic screams for food during feeding time, giving you a taste of the lively atmosphere at Ewetopia Farms. We find ourselves indoors due to another winter blast, allowing us to focus on our daily sheep chores. While I attend to the hungry bottle babies, Arnie rolls out a bale of hay for the ewes. Soon after, a peaceful silence falls as everyone savors their breakfast. We take a moment to discuss the type of hay we feed and how we hand-roll it into the feeders.
Moving on to the next barn, we encounter the Dorset lambs demanding their bottles, but today is different! It's weaning day for them, marking the end of bottle feeding. These lambs have grown and are now ready to consume hay and grain, no longer relying on milk. However, this transition is an adjustment they must make.
Lastly, we visit the barn where the newly weaned lambs reside, observing how well they have adapted to life without their mothers as we provide them with hay. They seem content and show no signs of distress.
Welcome to our sheep farming vlog at Ewetopia Farms! Join us in this insightful vlog as we explore the daily routines and milestones of sheep farming.

Good morning!
🌹🌹🌹🌹
All your animals look so healthy. Love it. See you tomorrow
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
I was just thinking about the no tail lamb. Looks like she's doing ok. Love feeding time it's so interesting seeing all the different behaviors. Hope the down ewe makes a full recovery. ❤
Yes, they are fine with no tail. She does still have a little stub of a tail. The problem with tails docked too short occurs during lambing and could result in more prolapsing
❤🐑
Good morning from Florida! 🍤🦀🦞🦪
The sounds of sheep farming are indeed impressive!
How’s Peggy doing?
So far she's OK but we'll see better at weaning
I wonder what the decibel level is? WOW! Seriously you both need ear protection.
Wasn’t 85 a twin, and Arnie called the ewe lamb Bloody Mary?
Holy Moses suits him perfectly. Great choice!
THANK YOU!!
Hmm! I remember Bloody Mary but was she 85? I will go check my records!!🙂
The silence after you feed the big group of bottle babies is something else, lol! I know it's lots of extra work but it is so cool that you make sure that all of the bottle babies get a drink. It must be challenging to roll out bales every day. Wow, I've never heard of Mother sheep biting off tail, iodine is a good solution! I feel very sad for the sheep with mastitis, she is in good hands on your farm. 627 is very handsome! The weaned bottle babies did make a lot of noise but you shouldn't feel bad Lynn! It's time for them to stop now, they look good and ready. Moses is such a nice name! I wonder if you will call him Holy Moses or just Moses. Have a nice day and stay warm. 🐑 ❤
We will call him Moses but I imagine we will jokingly say holy Moses quite often!
😊😊 Nice for you Arnie to help Lynn put out bottles ,there a lot of them .Maybe one video Arnie can show how he builds a bottle holder cutting holes in the pipe i think its two different sizes.😊😊😊 love from Tennessee
We have that video somewhere in our archives!😁
Getting pushed around by over 20 hungry lambs, is nearly a tonne of force. I can see the attraction to wean them asap!
My thinking exactly!
Even one lamb can trip you over. The uneven force of 20 plus the jumping makes life hard. I tried to have a fence/gare behind/beside me to manage the pressure groom the lambs.
Yes, that's why Arnie feeds from the opposite side. Until you experience it, it's probably hard to imagine how hard it can be to maneuver through a hungry mob of lambs!😄@susanmarsh4351
2 pm in Germany - Ewetopia time😊
I'll remember that!🙂
😂
Moses is a gorgeous ram!!! Hard to think of him as a lamb any longer!😂 Just beautiful!!! Those little Dorset babies are cute as buttons!! I hope the weather has warmed for you!! Gotta love Spring!! Thanks for sharing and stay safe!!🙏❤
So many lovely lambs! What hard choice it’ll be to cull some. Will they be the ones going to market or other breeders?
Moses is a perfect name for Glad’s lamb. He’s one super ram! 🐑
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the sick ewe. Poor girl.
Hard to believe the tiny, sweet Dorset lambs will almost be the size of their mom in just 90 days! 🥰
Cull sheep go to market. We only keep the best sheep for ourselves and others
How you don't use earplugs until everybody's fed is beyond me... I guess you just get used to it.
I could watch this episode over and over and over again. So fun watching you pick out the keepers. They sure are a gorgeous happy group to choose from. ❤
You get used to it to a point. Other days, when you are really tired, it grates on your nerves!😁
Hi, Lynn. Back when I had Corriedales, I bought two ewes (from separate flocks) that turned out to be tail-chewers. I figured it was just a one-off thing, so I didn't even hesitate to keep daughters out of them. Sure enough, the daughters of those two ewes were NOT tail-chewers. Which convinced me even more it was just a freak thing.
Until all of the granddaughters of those two ewes turned out to be tail-chewers. Which is when I developed my theory that tail-chewing seems to skip a generation. The granddaughters of tail-chewers consistently turned out to be tail-chewers. (This theory is based on a sample size of two ewes. So it hardly passes the test of scientific rigor.)
That wouldn't be statistically significant but interesting nonetheless😁
Good morning Lynn and Arnie. They sure are loud when they're hungry. How long does it take to get them fully weaned?❤️🐑
We wean around 3 months cold turkey. But the last month we gradually cut the milk back
You've got some very nice shorter/wider/thicker/longer Suffolks, which I prefer over the ones that are taller in stature. Both styles have great legs, some of the best around!
Thanks! We have worked hard over the years on legs and we are very happy with the improvements 🙂

One word. Earphones
yup!
