    Just bought this saw (before seeing this video) for a garden room build I’m planning in my new house. Very glad on my purchase. Looking forward to the table saw review as I’m thinking of getting one.

    I initially bought this saw to cut steel as it was designed for. But I am installing stair treads. I needed the track. It took an hour to get a straight edge. I had to trim the sliders, pads and guide edge. Overall it appears to be a good buy.

    Nice review.
    The Evolution stuff has always intrigued me. My thought has always been longevity Vs say Makita or Festool.
    Thank you.

      I used to think this way and agree that their older stuff is not great. But their latest products have been great quality!

    An other point is, u can cut easily thru nails and aluminium / steel (6-8mm) with this blade... I have the Plus model of these track-saw for 3 month and the 255mm miter-saw for 2 years and i'm absolute happy with both of them.

    I hot one from Amazon was unboxed but still new i paid £68 then sold the blade that came with it for £20 so i basically got it for £48 unreal 😁 so far a great saw extremely well made and sturdy, i wish it had ends for the guide though that thing is sharp, anyone looking for some great deals should look for amazon returns can get some proper bargains for a DIYer like me it's amazing tbh

    Good video, most of the reviewers did not recommend it.
    It is a circular saw on a track and not a real track-saw.
    How would it compare to the other low-cost plunge saws like the Einhell and the Draper/Excel/Triton..?

    • @sumeraybuilds
      @sumeraybuilds  Рік тому +2

      Given the price I think straight up not recommending it isn’t fair. You’re right, it’s technically a circular saw on a track. But for most people that’s all they need, usually for cutting 4x8ft boards ect. If you’re say, a kitchen fitter cutting down kickboards or cupboards where the finish is very important and you’re business depends on the quality of the cut. In those cases the Mafell/ Festol is the way to go.
      As for how it compares to the other brands, not sure. I haven’t used them but will look to do a comparison in the future.

    Great review, and I was also very impressed by it going through the sleeper. I've often found 'budget' tools merely quote the depth of cut available from the blade, but the tool itself simply doesn't have the horsepower to actually operate at that depth. You mention that you're happy with the cuts, by any chance did you put an engineers square on the cut to see if it was actually ninety degrees? The saw is only £77 on Amazon at the time of writing this, so it seems even more of a bargain to me.

    • @sumeraybuilds
      @sumeraybuilds  9 місяців тому

      I didn't on the oak, because that wasn't square to start with. But I've used this plently since and have been very happy with the cut quality and squareness. I'm pretty sure the new saw/ track come out later this year (June/ July) so if you can wait I would suggest it.

      I have this saw (this Christmas) I have an old Makita track and it does fit, I believe Mak & Fes are compatible so should fit on both but I have not tried the festool one. No riving knife, open face and no plunge function, I did not know this when I got it. If I did I would have got the one from Lidel (see Proper DIY rev.) @@sumeraybuilds

    This isn't great as a wood saw, it is outstanding as a metal saw. I just made a fire pit out of 3/8" plate steel and this saw never bogged down, and easily cut through the metal. The blade is pretty much shot, but I made no less than 30 cuts through thick steel

    • @sumeraybuilds
      @sumeraybuilds  4 місяці тому

      I tried their new one on metal and it did a great job. It also worked really well on all the OBS and plywood for my workshop so I'd recommend it for timber too!

    l have had this saw and track for about a year, the track supplied is at best useless, the edge came away on the second time of use, A s is held on with double sided tape. the guide is far to short, l extended it by screwing a piece of wood to it, removing the blade is a task as the blade tightens the screw, the allen key supplied is to short, l had to use a long piece of tube to undo. Over time the allen screw round off, this took an age to release, replace with a hex head, keep as a circular saw.

      @@sumeraybuilds more comments. when reviewing a product please use for more than a the length of the video. the clamp centre screw protrudes marking the work the work, when using clamps. the clamp screw for the fence is in the wrong place, it should be closer tio the fence. apart from this as a circular saw not bad.

    Ive always been surprised at how pricey these kind of saw are . Accuracy comes from the trach - a strip of plastic - not the saw . Its a bargain buy !

    • @despraterado588

      The problem is that this track is complete trash. It comes in multiple short pieces and there is no way to make them actually straight. The whole purpose of a track saw is a perfectly straight cut. The only way to get an accurate cut with this track is to fuck with it for at least an hour and screw the track to a piece of plywood after you've pulled a string along it to make sure you got it aligned just right. In other words, after you make a track, this track is not a bargain

      It's not actually a plunge saw, it's a circular saw on a track. So it doesn't plunge.

    • @KM-fm9ms
      @KM-fm9ms 5 місяців тому

      I agree, that was the main reason I was looking at buying this saw, most circular saws do not come with the vacuum port. In addition I noticed that the brake is very slow to stop the blade, all of that on top of a brushed motor, it's going to be a pass for me even at that price point.
