Ah, yes. The project that turned out to be a film, an album, and a LAWSUIT! Only put out after Shabby Road to fulfill contractual obligations, and even then Ron DeCline was robbing them blind. (Ron Nasty should've heeded Stig O'Hara's warning about Mr. DeCline)
I played Don't Get Me Wrong to my dad (who's the biggest Beatles fan imaginable) he really thought it was a new Beatles song he'd never heard before. Shows the greatness of The Rutles (or the stupidity of my dad lol)
I once played Piggy in the Middle to my younger cousin, also a huge Beatles' fan. He was confounded and confused. Lol. He even said that it sounded a bit like I am the Walrus and that it blew his mind that he hadn't ever heard it. Lmao. After toying with him a bit, I told him all about The Rutles. He dug it, big time. Just like me. Long live Ron Nasty and the boys!!
I recently found A CD of How Sweet To Be An Idiot with 8 bonus tracks Yay1 Iam a life long Bonzos-Monty Python-Rutles fan. I got to see Neil play live in 2006 in Toronto. He had a new album called Works In Progress and I grabbed it from the review pile at NOW magazine where I was employed at the time . He played at the Jane Mallet Theatre. He played the entire album plus some Rutles and Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band tunes. He stayed afterwards in the lobby where he signed everything each concert goer brought for him to sign. I have my Tadpoles album with his signature on my living room wall that I look at every day. He reminds me to take life with a large dose of humour each and every day. A brilliant singer-songwriter band leader from the last half century talent pool, he's among the best in my heart, mind and soul. Watch Concert For George Harrison DVD from Royal Albert Hall and them singing the lumberjack song, the ending is hilarious. Thank you Neil James Innes for great music and belly laughs and the joy you brought to many fans around this earth.
I never said we were better than the Rutles or God or Jesus or whatever it was. I just said what I said and now it's all this! We just wanted to make a record.
Never heard of these The Rutles dudes, we had a band like this from Liverpool back in the 1960's who were not the big called The Beatles but these The Rutles dude must be the real mccoy unlike our towns The Beatles. Our The Beatles are no longer together which is sad. Are these The Rutles still together????
+Charles E Newman thanks. I am a huge Rutles Fan. I found their take on the Beatles histarical. shame none of their albums were real, I kinda want to Drink Tea while Listening to Sgt. Rutters only darts club band. I better Get up and go before I Let it Rot. Though i like this custom album.

"Concrete Jungle Boy" is from Innes and Idle's "Rutland Weekend TV", which inspired the Rutles

I think so...
The group broke up in 1970.
Bandwagon sounds like Foghat!
Let it rot 2005
Don’t get me wrong is a Bonzo band song. Still written by Neil Innes though
If I didn't know these guys were spoofing the Beatles, I'd say it was some right fine music, Great music compared to the stuff today
Concrete Jungle boy sounds like the Who
Don't get me wrong sounds very dig a pony-ish
Concrete jungle boy has to be a Townshend spoof
A who spoof? Drums,.vocals like Daltry. Totally Who
Is there a Rutles song that parodies the song "Let It Be"?
noochinator There is nothing that parodies it directly, but there are a few songs that sound somewhat similar to it.
Thank you for the reply, and for this wonderful Rutles album you made available to us!
Try "Lets Be Natural" imho. Its beautiful and sad at the same time.
George is Indian suddenly! Why does this make me laugh? Oh, I get it! George liked and played Indian music so suddenly he’s Indian! Hilarious!
Class 5
i kinda like the cut off song, reminds me of a funnier maggie mae, the only beatles song released incomplete.
