- Houston, TX: Stratford High School's Statford Playhouse version of "Put on a Happy Face" from their award-winning presenstation of Bye Bye Birdie in Feb. 2015 . This number features Collins Rush as Albert Peterson and Maddie Dyer as the Sad Girl.
Birdie is one of my favorite shows and I have seen many many productions. This is hands down the best Happy Face performance I have ever seen. The director and choreographer are geniuses. Brilliant stunning performances. And it's high school !!!
Congrats
ngl this dude was born to play albert look at him go
HOW👏🏻IS👏🏻THIS👏🏻SO👏🏻FLAWLESS
This "Sad little girl" is excellent.
So, did this young man go on to Broadway because he's really good. Great voice and stage presence. In the movie, this musical number is done by Dick Van Dyke and Janet Leigh, his girlfriend, Rose. One of my favorites and these high school actors did a great job!
These talented kids can certainly make us put on a very very happy face!
I did this in my 7th grade play. I worked on crew, I’m a guy that just can’t sing without cracking my voice. I remember me and the crew and actors just all dancing to the songs like in the play. I had so much fun with this song along with one last kiss.
I did pretty much the same thing, its such a fun musical
A professional production! Well done!!
There voices are amazing.
Collins was born to play Albert.
i have watched this video atleast liek 23914839 times already and it always gives me endless joy
I got a callback for this role coming up, I'm so excited!
Update: I got it! Performing this summer 😁
Best of luck!
I'm watching this awesome performance in 2023 :)
This is a high school production? Amazing.
dmnemaine it's the best high school ever 👌🏼 Stratford will all always be my home
After browsing a bunch of these...is Texas HS musical theater like Texas HS football, with recruiting and everything? Because all of these are astonishing. And the video directed at a professional level as well -- it looks like a real TV broadcast.
Well, I don't know about the rest of Texas, but certainly that's an apt comparison for Houston - partly because Houston has such a serious arts culture - but also because Tommy Tune himself (10-time Tony award winner raised in Houston) has pushed the performing arts for high school by staging his Tommy Tune Awards program every year, so the school's are constantly trying to outdo each other in that competition. Stratford High School is probably the top program of all of them - parents will go out of there way to get their kids re-zoned so they can attend their program. As far as the broadcast quality of the videos...well, that's all me - thanks for noticing. It was all volunteer work since my daughter was in the program - so of course the videos had to be the best.
@@THATBILLMOORE what happened to the kid who played Albert? Did he go into show business?
Yes, he now lives in NYC and is in a Broadway touring show.
I'm playing sad girl in my middle schools' play and this vid helped A LOT getting into character 👌
Also playing sad girl and this helps Vic helps a lot !!!!!!!!
Excellent performance!!!! Congrats to all of them
A great song.
They look so professional!
Great version!!
I wouldn't be surprised if all of these were successfully accepted into MT or theater programs in college...that is if they wanted to continue that course of study...ALL were talented!
Yup I remember singing this for musical revue in my old schools after school program
This guy is GREAT! Where is he now?
i hate to tell you this but i think some guy named chino shot the poor kid cuz he hated him for stabbing a guy called bernardo...very tragic
No smokin til you’re 14-Conrad’s motto
bro that's damn lit man 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! That kid is really good. Wonder where he is and what he is doing today?
Currently at TCU as a junior in their theatre program - just had the starring role in their production of "42nd St." His talent continues to grow.
Excellent!!!!!!
Everybody in the show actually looks like they’re in high school. But I’m just surprised by the level of professionalism. Even the orchestra is fabulous. And when I see highschoolers dancing it’s usually so awful but these all look professional.
I wonder where all these kids are now?
That was good
I am playing sad girl in my performance
