One error many make in trying to describe the homeless is by thinking it has anything to do with "affordability". Most of these "homeless" are interested in only getting stuff FREE, with no work. There are many government programs that will pay disability benefits to those "victims" using drugs or alcohol which "prevents" them from seeking employment. Why should they work when they get so many benefits freeloading, begging or stealing? Most shopping carts they convert to "housing" are stolen. Where did they "buy" the shopping carts? The "tents" and the fact that most of them have the latest smartphones?
So if the Squatters have all the rights ,why even spend all that money to buy a home .
in a blue state they have MORE rights than you.

This law needs to b come Federal law. I personally have a bunch of no good squatters basically camping nextdoor asking me for keys to my garage. Vandalizing my property etc... I have decided to write my state Representative and ask if you his could become law in my state including photos of meth encampment. I will send copies to real property owner and law enforcement. If I went to a bank and said I own all this - give me the money. I would be shot on site

I briefly worked for a property management company in 2022. First time I encountered squatters. Got a phone call from a prospective tenant who went to view the property, only to be told it was leased. I immediately called the police, & they said there was nothing they could do. COVID was one of the excuses back then. It became a common problem here in Georgia because of these hedge funds & greedy landlords that kept raising rents higher & higher, in t low income neighborhoods. They wouldn’t listen to my advice on pricing, as they were not even in state & didn’t know the market. So the homes would sit vacant & voilà, SQUATTERS. I feel badly for private owners, but not for those greedy investors & hedge funds.

Yes it happen to one of my friend. After a 3 weeks of vacation his house is occupied by an homeless couple and they refused to move out without paying them ransom money.

I don't understand why someone would squat or even a tenant (which I am currently) stay in an apartment they cannot pay for and force a landlord to evict them.
I remember when I was in my 20s and I couldn't pay rent for the following month, I told the landlady two weeks before I had to pay the rent I was gonna leave the apartment. I told her she could keep my deposit as I broke the lease, but I just lost a job and I was totally broke. She was very understanding and she still gave me back the deposit (she didn't need to). She even told me to reapply whenever I could afford to pay and I could use her as a reference. I would rather be homeless than not pay someone and live in their place. That's vile.

In california, a property owner CANNOT STOP anyone from setting up a utility account with PGE to live in a house. Literally, the owner has no rights to control the utilities.

The squatter problem is huge in ATL, GA right now, over 1200 properties are occupied by squatters in the metro area. Due to this problem the state is trying to put a bill in place - 1017, which is for Georgia Squatter Reform Act. This will help address the squatter issue by legally arresting and citing squatters in someone else's property without an official lease.
So let me get this straight. You go on vacation. Someone illegally moves into your house while you're on vacation, and THEY can kick you out of your house and keep YOUR possessions. BS! This is why I just put a monitored security system in my house. Someone enters my home while I'm on vacation, the alarm goes off the minute they open the door. The alarm company calls me, I tell them to call the police, and I have them arrested for breaking an entering.
@@NYCHairguru It also works off my phone, so I can access it remotely. I also have neighbors. If I'm going out of town, I Iet them know when I'm leaving, and when I am returning.
There isn’t a greedy landlords. There is a disgusting tenants who don’t want to pay rent and make your place like a trash. Landlords have so many bills to pay. Every year our government keep raising our property tax so is insurance. On top of it it’s expensive to maintain the property. How do you think property owners should pay all the bills. Stop defending the renters.

I think ALL leases or contracts should go through an agency for legality purposes to avoid squatters lying about having a lease or contract. If their so-called lease isn't from said agency, then it is fake, and the squatters should be arrested for breaking and entering and home invasion.

This happened to my mom's rental property she got two big giant friends of hers they went there and told him with Force to get out. The squatter went running out. He didn't even look back, lol.

Cities should have Homeowners file Rental contracts with the city, for proof and verification of actual tenants and rental terms. This way, all local authority departments, would have a source of truth to refer back to with the city and "actual rental contract" on file for that property. ✅
The question are?: how did “Squat Rights” happen?, who are responsable of “Squat Rights?, who is changing the laws to benefit squats? We need the politicians’ names (those that defend these circumstances).
The eviction laws in this country need to change. It’s taking 8-9 months to evict someone in Georgia.

The homeowner can file a 'intruder affidavit' with the police. States that the squatter is an intruder, forcing arrest of the squatter.
The term squatter was first used in the US in about 1798 as a settler having no normal or legal title to the land occupied by him, especially one thus occupying land in a district not yet surveyed or apportioned by the government. It comes from the term to squat as in to sit on one's haunches.
If you buy a home. Hire a security company or just use friends. They need to be in your house when you sign the papers to make sure there are no squatters. Then you need to move in fast.

One solution for buying a house is hybrid. Buy a house with a maximum 5, 10 or 15 year mortgage. The mortgage interest is less than 30 years. The banks get their biggest profit in the first years of a mortgage. It all depend on your ability to focus on reducing the profits of the mortgage company. They don't think you can do it so they don't care. My last deals had less than a ten year mortgage. You aren't starving but any additional income goes directly to pay off principal. It adds up fast. In California, the minimum fast food wages are $20/hr. Two people both working an additional 40 hr fast food job ( Do you want fries with this order?) can bring in another $41,600 per year. The feeling of NO DEBTS can only be understood when you achieve it. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Hypothetically speaking if somebody breaks into your house and start loading up your stuff into a truck. If you call the police and say you’re being robbed all they have to say is “I live here” and the police are required to take their word for it 🤔

How can police be so gullible? I'll bet they're not believing when a car thief says, 'i own this car' and they check the registration. Houses do have registrations. And the owner can easily prove they own the house and live there, not the squatters.

That is to hire squatters to squat in homes taken over by squatters. Why has no one figured this out yet??
The trick is finding the talent. Bouncers, weight lifters and martial artists who like confrontation.
Pay them $2,000 - $4,000 each to squat a house for a couple days. They don't even after to sleep there - they just have to intimidate the squatters to move along.
If you find a good market hire the guys on a piece rate basis or if you just need it done for yourself go to some entertainment venues, gyms, dojo's, etc and talk to the guys. They're actually pretty cool people and would probably love the challenge!
There is a guy who does that. His mom's house had a squatter. He researched the law and moved in. He put the squatters out because he had no rights to the house either. Now he can be hired to do the same for other people.
The homeowner was arrested for changing the lock… what do you think would happen if the homeowner hired a group of muscle to remove “personal property” and the squatters themself? The whole thing is messed up.
Leases should be registered with the county for disputes of tenant possession. The fact that they take the word of the squatters is clearly biased.

It’s shown in videos of them doing it. He says h3 is doing it. And several evidenced cases of homeowners or self-defenders getting in trouble for their interest. That is all. To be a tenant, there is a lease to prove that. So police should ask for evidence they are really tenants.

This is the racket the squatters are doing - they buy a lease from Staples or anywhere, fill it out and forge the name of the owner and then the police has to tell the owner that he needs to go to court and it becomes a civil case

If the people who buy homes are no longer the owners of that home, they need to stop paying the mortgage. Banks will lose money. The laws will change very quickly if the mortgages are not paid. It's always about money.

I recently had a homeless person and his 4 dogs move into one of my cabins. The officoers suggested if I had another place to go, it was likely best to do that.
After getting my stolen vechile back (no konger legal), I have received over 10 tickets for non-moving violations. Apparently you can squat without consequence but omg...try to sleep in your car somewhere and ..no no no...

No, I’m not a historian so I may have this a little bit not precise, but my understanding is squatter Rights came from Celtic law, which was pre-Roman and based on law and natural law, not legal entities. As such property had to be vacated for some set time like two years, and to be known, free and available. At which point the land is available to be settled or homestead.
Many companies out there that will go ahead and but the squatter until he leaves not cheap though
