I’m not on Robs side here, buuuuut rating platformers has gotta be 10x harder than rating normal levels. With a normal level you can just look at a 1 minute level and say decide whether it’s good or not. With platformers, those take a lot more time to get the full experience. You gotta see if it’s bugged, if it’s fun, good looking, optimized, etc. It’s only been out for a year, so the line on what is “good” with all these factors is very blurry. As well as how much more accessible it is to have a “good” platformer, seeing how many people get their first creator points with platformers. We just don’t know what exactly makes a platformer a good one, and that takes time to understand for all of us, including Robtop.
I think the way robtop has been rating levels for over 10 years might have worked in the past, but that changed in 2.2. Not only are there now 2 different modes and 2 different communities to please, but it's also significantly more time consuming to go through some platformer levels to see if they deserve a rating or not. That's simply because most platformer levels take longer to beat or even watch through than classic levels. The way rates are being handled is severely outdated and some kind of change needs to happen. The sent tab is getting absolutely flooded with levels every day because there's a LOT of mods sending those levels. That means robtop has 0 way of going through every single level that appears in that tab and I've noticed he mostly favors the most recently sent ones. There are some exceptions to this rule but they are very rare (for example he once did a rate wave from a reddit thread or he rated levels with over 40/50 sends [which is ridiculous in the first place that levels can get that many sends without ever getting rated] ). I'll keep saying it - a single person cannot properly manage both modes while leaving everyone happy. Especially if that person also has to code the entire game by themselves. I get that robtop likes rating levels himself but it's just not healthy for some of us, especially the platformer community. I also get that he might not have time to please everyone and that's understandable, everyone has a life. But that's exactly why he should delegate some other people to rating levels because he himself is not quite enough.
I completed understand Robtop's situation. It's always been very hard for me to understand how does he rates levels and codes the game at the same time, but platformer levels espesially take relatively long time to play/rate compared to classics. And on top of that, he makes all community events, gauntlets, event levels and he is still just one person. And I understand Robtop's perspektive about the spike hitbox thing. So, I really hope that we get something, because platformer has so much potential! (if ur watched xcreatorgoal) So hopefully we get someone to rate platformers with Robtop or something like that :)
REAL it took much harder for me to get my second plat rate last week while this is all happening, sad how there's barely any plat rates now despite having tons of them in sent tab.
As someone with 5k moons and someone who is building their own platformer dedicating 6 entire months (considering that is the only platformer and level itself as a project that i've ever started), i'm very scared of this
platformer is definitely ignored by rob, and it's legitimately sad to see such a decline in platformer rates. especially with the *week and a half* since the last pemon, people across all parts of the plat community have started to speak up about it. really hoping rob at least says something about it because at it stands this is just sad.

Lo and behold... I didn't think it would only take FIVE MONTHS to get to this point, but now not only are demon platformers neglected but all platformers. Platformer is extremely neglected, and I doubt it will be focused on anytime soon, sadly, as so many people outright reject platformers as a way to play the game. It's a real shame for those of us who do enjoy platformer mode, and it's why top platformer players look to a list filled with both rated and unrated levels as one of the primary lists. I hope things change soon but I'm not dumb enough to believe they will.

There is an anti-cheat in the game that prevents bots spamming comments and then likebotting them. I've seen it happen with some levels where someone likebotted their advertisement comments and it got deleted shortly after. If an elder mod did it, they would've comment banned me by now, and they haven't 🐱 2. I know my yapping was specifically towards platformer, but classic also suffers with this issue. It’s a lot less noticeable because there is a lot of classics that get rated, but the ratio of [sent:rated] is just as bad in both modes. Platformer takes a harder hit cuz there’s less of them being sent, which therefore means even less getting rated. Overall, the rate system has got to change regardless of what mode, because right now, there are more people creating levels than ever, and giving all that power to ONE PERSON is never going to work. I'm just tired of people saying "I hate platformer mode the levels all suck and are boring" as a validation as to why rob shouldn't rate people's effort on platformer levels that they've made. Sucks that there's this unnecessary hate for a mode that the people hating probably haven't touched in months. It really sucks that RobTop is the only one working on rating levels I wish he would hire a team, but at the same he doesn’t make that kind of money to do so.
With me being a platformer enjoyer and moon grinder i feel platformer is super underrated and you really should give it a chance. Just trust me. I went from hating on platformer before 2.2s release to beating 2-3 platformer easy demons per day and getting 100+ moons per day. So yeah go give platformer some love, it deserves it
The community does get very uncreative in certain aspects of building. I can understand why RobTop would hate spike clipping and tap indicators because surely the community can do much better than that?
I was waiting for new platformer demons (much easier), and I memorized how many platformer demons are there now in each difficulty and the only thing changing is the level's difficulty like Speedtek going hard to medium, Not Sunspike going insane to hard, and rarely some levels getting upgraded, mostly insane demons to extreme demons now EDIT: we need platformer moderators rn
As someone who loves creating levels and games using platformer mode, this discourages me greatly. There are a lot of cool platformer levels out there that aren't receiving the rate or attention they deserve.
I think it's about time Robtop forms a team. A small one at least. Sure, we have mods, but they can only do so much. Platformers take a lottttt of time to go through

Robtop should just realise that this is a job he can't do alone anymore. He needs to hire people. There's just too many levels to consider for rates than one guy can handle.
He should just let Elder Mods be able to actually rate levels. Or create a separate Mod ranking for those who are completely trusted that have that ability.
My biggest problem is that most of the time I don’t want challenges, so I have to either guess if a level will not take that long or have to spoil myself the experience, I would be fine even if we could only save like 3 levels mid game, probably the creator of a level should choose between allowing checkpoints working between playthroughs
imo Robtop could host creator contests (like the NCS/Space Gauntlets) but platformer only. And it will insanely increase the hype for platformer mode for sure! Maybe RobTop is waiting to release "The Map", because it will be the first step to force players to play platoformers!
I think the platform rating inconsistency is a symptom of the underlying problem that platformer should have been a completely separate game from classic GD since on a conceptual level, it’s completely different. The play styles are different, the editor tools applicable to it are different, and most importantly, the intended audience is different. It was doomed from the start trying to satisfy both sides in this frankenstein-like update, and it’s not surprising to me that the vanilla GD levels sorta “won out” in the end, since it’s what most people (and evidence suggests that also Rob) actually want from a GD experience.
Because of my ban from the official gd discord, he should continue to be active in other servers like gd leaderboards, globed community, geode sdk, etc

Im playing how to platformer rn. I did hear somewhere that robtop doesnt like levels were people abuse the spike hitboxes. Im guessing levels like how to platformer were rate because robtop didnt care too much about it but im also guessing that most levels have many the spike hit boxes abuse and robtop just lost interest in the platformer mode.
First of all "abusing spike hitboxes" is a non issue and people just complain about it because it's popular while they have 0 understanding of the topic but that's not worth arguing about right now. There's MANY other levels that don't abuse spike hitboxes and they get multitudes of sends yet they don't get rated for months.
i'm personally not a fan of rob's system for checking levels. being able to check platformers by filtering the sent tab would make this a whole lot easier and i don't know why he doesn't do that. there are a TON of good platformer levels with double digit sends that are either skipped or unseen and it's infuriating to most of the community. i understand that he only likes himself having the ability to rate levels but at the same time he has to work on the game.
It is incredibly frustrating not having any new hard platformers to play for over 1,5 weeks again and again. Adressing your 3 points you made in the video: 1) Lack of Time: This cant be the case, cause why would he have time to rate classic levels every day but not a single platformer for over a week? 2) Rob Already Cooking: Maybe, but that doesn't justify not rating anything. If he had something cooking, he would try to keep the platformer community engaged while they wait for new platformer rates. 3) Lack of Motivation: Either his motivation dropped to 0 in the last two weeks, or this can't be the case because he rated about 20 platformer demons in a single week right before stopping completely. What I think the issue is here is his complete ignorance, which is sad. He simply doesn't care much for platformers; otherwise, I wouldn't understand how he can rate 30+ classic demons while he doesn't rate a single platformer demon. There's just no way he forgets to rate them every time he rates classic levels. A solution that would be the best for everyone would just be either he rates an equal amount of platformer and classic each rate wave or he just adapts a rating schedule. So one day he only rates classic non-demons, the other day only classic demon, then only platformer non-demons, then only platformer demons. That way everyone knows when RobTop will rate what and doesn't cause a riot in the platformer community every single time he neglects platformer levels.
I see robtop's point. I also think that the community is making too long platformers. This is why most people dont grind moons that often. I feel like at that point its not who makes the best platformer level, but who makes the longest.
Opinion that will get me hunted by hitmen: i didnt care much for platformer after seeing what it has become. I wish there were more towerverse styled platformers, ones that feel minimalistic and charming. Not like im saying that these new ones are terrible, but they are not what comes to mind when i hear GD platformer.
I feel like I'm on Rob's side actually, as a gamedev with a few years of experience I can completely understand him not rating platformer levels because he has to work on the game and rate classic levels. If he stopped rating classic levels and kept on rating platformers I think that would have much more impact on the game. Also for platformer levels Rob actually has to take the time to view them and go through it a bit and then dicide if he's going to rate them. He does also have to play classic levels except that wouldn't take as long as you can only move in one direction. Also with the amount of moderators sending in a lot of levels Rob probably can only rate a few at a time, and since I said before that he can't just stop rating classic levels he's going ti pause rating platformers until the community gets upset or until Rob finishes whatever thing he's currently working. I also do find it a bit confusing why he doesn't let someone like viprin rate levels as he is really closely connected with him. I could also be completely wrong about all of this.
Unlike most community issues that involve robtop unfortunately I don't think this one can be solved. The amount of players who genuinely care about the platformer gamemode is very low, so there is basically no pressure in robtop to do more platformer rates. I would even say the community is biased against the mode, back when we had like 10 legendaries at best prople wouldn complain if there was one more platformer legendary than classic legendary, but now that platformer have way less epics and legendaries nobody cares. I had a feeling robtop was biased against it when he stopped giving plats as many high rates and didn't give orbdancer epic or legendary

Nope, we are basically hitting a new low this month with how few are getting rated. We are also at a record breaking streak of 8 days without a single platformer demon getting rated. In that time there were already 3 demon rate waves where a few classic demons got rated. There are always platformer demons sitting right there in the sent tab, some with over 10, 20 or even 30 sends yet rob keeps ignoring them for some reason. That's a problem.

Speaking of platforms… I think Moons should had never been made. They do nothing but add even more achievements with a ridicolous amount of grinding, and it’s not fun at all. Why not just fit what you can achieve with the moons, between what you can achieve with stars between the achievements we already have, and then, do so that the platformers give you stars, so that you can grind them faster?
The thing is that classic and platformer are two VERY different skillsets. Let's say someone beats a classic demon. The rewards from the demon would be the same for platformers assuming moons were never made. If a player thinks platformer levels are way easier than classics, then they can get stars from platformer levels with ease. Idk how else to explain my point. Separating classic and plat levels through separate stats is a good thing. It also gives an incentive to play platformer levels even if you have tens of thousands of stars.

@ GD's already insanely grindy (cough cough 25k stars 500 demons 3k user coins). Separating platformers and classics not only makes plats worth playing, but also helps make one's skillset a little bit more clear. The argument of "I DONT WANT MORE ACHIEVEMENTS!!!" is a pretty weak one since, again, GD is already deranged with its achievement difficulty (cough 365 fucking daily levels), so getting 10,000 moons isn't really an issue by comparison.

Months ago my first rated platformer only took 1 send and under 48 hour after release for it to get rated for reference

I think #3 is a big one. Platformers rn are way too demanding of the player's time, either from ridiculous difficulty or tedious progression.

My biggest problem is that most of the time I don’t want challenges, so I have to either guess if a level will not take that long or have to spoil myself the experience, I would be fine even if we could only save like 3 levels mid game, probably the creator of a level should choose between allowing checkpoints working between playthroughs
i mean rob put an etire tab kinda like the fetured tab just for platformers in gd lite so he is giving them at least a bit of attention
imo Robtop could host creator contests (like the NCS/Space Gauntlets) but platformer only. And it will insanely increase the hype for platformer mode for sure! Maybe RobTop is waiting to release "The Map", because it will be the first step to force players to play platoformers!
I think the platform rating inconsistency is a symptom of the underlying problem that platformer should have been a completely separate game from classic GD since on a conceptual level, it’s completely different. The play styles are different, the editor tools applicable to it are different, and most importantly, the intended audience is different. It was doomed from the start trying to satisfy both sides in this frankenstein-like update, and it’s not surprising to me that the vanilla GD levels sorta “won out” in the end, since it’s what most people (and evidence suggests that also Rob) actually want from a GD experience.
Because of my ban from the official gd discord, he should continue to be active in other servers like gd leaderboards, globed community, geode sdk, etc

Im playing how to platformer rn. I did hear somewhere that robtop doesnt like levels were people abuse the spike hitboxes. Im guessing levels like how to platformer were rate because robtop didnt care too much about it but im also guessing that most levels have many the spike hit boxes abuse and robtop just lost interest in the platformer mode.
First of all "abusing spike hitboxes" is a non issue and people just complain about it because it's popular while they have 0 understanding of the topic but that's not worth arguing about right now. There's MANY other levels that don't abuse spike hitboxes and they get multitudes of sends yet they don't get rated for months.
i'm personally not a fan of rob's system for checking levels. being able to check platformers by filtering the sent tab would make this a whole lot easier and i don't know why he doesn't do that. there are a TON of good platformer levels with double digit sends that are either skipped or unseen and it's infuriating to most of the community. i understand that he only likes himself having the ability to rate levels but at the same time he has to work on the game.
It is incredibly frustrating not having any new hard platformers to play for over 1,5 weeks again and again.
Adressing your 3 points you made in the video:
1) Lack of Time: This cant be the case, cause why would he have time to rate classic levels every day but not a single platformer for over a week?
2) Rob Already Cooking: Maybe, but that doesn't justify not rating anything. If he had something cooking, he would try to keep the platformer community engaged while they wait for new platformer rates.
3) Lack of Motivation: Either his motivation dropped to 0 in the last two weeks, or this can't be the case because he rated about 20 platformer demons in a single week right before stopping completely.
What I think the issue is here is his complete ignorance, which is sad. He simply doesn't care much for platformers; otherwise, I wouldn't understand how he can rate 30+ classic demons while he doesn't rate a single platformer demon. There's just no way he forgets to rate them every time he rates classic levels.
A solution that would be the best for everyone would just be either he rates an equal amount of platformer and classic each rate wave or he just adapts a rating schedule. So one day he only rates classic non-demons, the other day only classic demon, then only platformer non-demons, then only platformer demons. That way everyone knows when RobTop will rate what and doesn't cause a riot in the platformer community every single time he neglects platformer levels.
The rating system in its whole is very outdated, yes. He should find a better solution

I see robtop's point. I also think that the community is making too long platformers. This is why most people dont grind moons that often. I feel like at that point its not who makes the best platformer level, but who makes the longest.
Rob really needs to have more level raters. Maybe his closest friends should help?
Opinion that will get me hunted by hitmen: i didnt care much for platformer after seeing what it has become. I wish there were more towerverse styled platformers, ones that feel minimalistic and charming. Not like im saying that these new ones are terrible, but they are not what comes to mind when i hear GD platformer.

I feel like I'm on Rob's side actually, as a gamedev with a few years of experience I can completely understand him not rating platformer levels because he has to work on the game and rate classic levels. If he stopped rating classic levels and kept on rating platformers I think that would have much more impact on the game. Also for platformer levels Rob actually has to take the time to view them and go through it a bit and then dicide if he's going to rate them. He does also have to play classic levels except that wouldn't take as long as you can only move in one direction. Also with the amount of moderators sending in a lot of levels Rob probably can only rate a few at a time, and since I said before that he can't just stop rating classic levels he's going ti pause rating platformers until the community gets upset or until Rob finishes whatever thing he's currently working. I also do find it a bit confusing why he doesn't let someone like viprin rate levels as he is really closely connected with him. I could also be completely wrong about all of this.

Unlike most community issues that involve robtop unfortunately I don't think this one can be solved. The amount of players who genuinely care about the platformer gamemode is very low, so there is basically no pressure in robtop to do more platformer rates. I would even say the community is biased against the mode, back when we had like 10 legendaries at best prople wouldn complain if there was one more platformer legendary than classic legendary, but now that platformer have way less epics and legendaries nobody cares. I had a feeling robtop was biased against it when he stopped giving plats as many high rates and didn't give orbdancer epic or legendary

Nope, we are basically hitting a new low this month with how few are getting rated. We are also at a record breaking streak of 8 days without a single platformer demon getting rated. In that time there were already 3 demon rate waves where a few classic demons got rated. There are always platformer demons sitting right there in the sent tab, some with over 10, 20 or even 30 sends yet rob keeps ignoring them for some reason. That's a problem.

I think Moons should had never been made.
They do nothing but add even more achievements with a ridicolous amount of grinding, and it’s not fun at all.
Why not just fit what you can achieve with the moons, between what you can achieve with stars between the achievements we already have, and then, do so that the platformers give you stars, so that you can grind them faster?
The thing is that classic and platformer are two VERY different skillsets. Let's say someone beats a classic demon. The rewards from the demon would be the same for platformers assuming moons were never made. If a player thinks platformer levels are way easier than classics, then they can get stars from platformer levels with ease.
Idk how else to explain my point. Separating classic and plat levels through separate stats is a good thing. It also gives an incentive to play platformer levels even if you have tens of thousands of stars.

@ GD's already insanely grindy (cough cough 25k stars 500 demons 3k user coins). Separating platformers and classics not only makes plats worth playing, but also helps make one's skillset a little bit more clear.
The argument of "I DONT WANT MORE ACHIEVEMENTS!!!" is a pretty weak one since, again, GD is already deranged with its achievement difficulty (cough 365 fucking daily levels), so getting 10,000 moons isn't really an issue by comparison.
