The Blend playing their classic song "The Prize" at their farewell concert in Whitter, NH in August, 1982. For more info and album info link to www.rustyrocket.com.
THIS SONG KICKED ON K-SHE IN THE DAY.I COULDN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF THIS SONG--THOUGHT IT WAS "THE BEAR".THEN IT HIT ME IT'S "THE PRIZE".IF YOU LIKE ROCK,THIS IS GREAT.I JUST CAN'T SAY WHY THIS SONG WASN'T A BIGGER HIT.
In 1979 my girlfriend and I moved from Maine to Tampa, Florida where we listened to and enjoyed 98 Rock. One evening the DJ said "we're going to play this new southern rock band - The Blend!" I immediately jumped into my 1972 Chrysler Newport with my 108 WBLM bumper stickers proudly displayed and headed to the station where I showed my Blend Album to the DJ and stated that these guys are from the Northeast, not the south. I had seen them open up for ZZ Top at the Cumberland County Civic Center March 3, 1977 - it was my first concert (1st one for the Civic Center too) and still have my ticket stub some 40+ years later. Ya, they rocked. "Wild Bill" has seen many shows since that night!

Yes, same band. I can confirm. I have family that lives in that town and has for a long time. My Dad's best friend was friends with the drummer of this band.
Was there at that final concert. It was great and sad all at the same time. Miss those guys a lot. Great times every time I saw them play. Rest in peace J.D. and D.P.
Wow! First time hearing them live and what excellent musicians, sounds just like the recorded song I heard on the radio. Thanks for sharing this video!
Tell your dad John Shepard says""hi"", from me, myself and I, the old drummer in Thunderjug back then. . Leroy is one great guitarist....I still have a tape we did at the Lucerne Inn in 1977 with a violinist that sat in that night ...The dreaded night we tipped the truck over ...Your dads a very precise clean player..I can almost hear that old tractor he drives around in them thar woods up there backfiring from here.
