Bengali and Indian can't be compared. Bengali is an ethnicity, Indian is a nationality. Bengalis can be Indian too, most of them live in West Bengal. The Southeast Asian part is because we Bengalis have admixtures with neighboring sino-tibetan northeast Indians and Southeast asians.
yeah that's true! bengalis can be indian too. my test specifically told me that the bengali percentage in me is from specific regions in bangladesh and northeastern indian regions.
@@firoshsaris1251 yeah i've heard about that too! i didnt know that bengalis had a different background than the indian/pakistani race, thought we were pretty much identical except of the different mixing (like bengalis with east asian DNA and north indians with european DNA)
@Shuayb Islam Indo aryans dont come from Indus Vally but from Eurasian steppe. Bangladeshis actually have 15% Steppe DNA. I checked mine with ancient samples and I get a strong 15% Sintashta_MLBA. Indus valley people were Iranian related but got admixed with local hunter gatherers. Everyone in south Asia from Pakistan to Bangladesh have Indus ancestry as the main genetical component. Bangladeshis can be seen as 70% Indus + 15% Steppe + 15% east Asian.
Your results are so interesting! I also recently did a DNA test but with My Heritage and I got 2% Middle Eastern which I was a little surprised about also got a lot of West Asian as well I'm of Pakistani Punjabi Heritage.
wow, so 23&me is providing it divisions in the south asian category. Other videos which were long ago, did not show any further division to south asian. I’m an Indian Bengali, can’t wait to do my dna test as well
Hi Pareesa , good video. I have three white European grandparents and one from Bangladesh and even I have 0.7% Thai Indonesia Kmer and Myanmar in my DNA result. Bangladesh shares a border with Myanmar and 23&Me describe Bangladesh as a genetic crossroads to the Far East. Has your ethnicity estimate been altered with scientific updates over the years since you made the video?
Nice to see another Bengali result. Its so cool to see all of us Bengalis are quite similar genetically. My gedmatch score is almost identical to yours and my parents are from Brahmanbaria and Comilla so not much far from Dhaka and Sylhet. The insight I got about our ancient origin is that the Bengali dna is an ancient mix of various people. The bulk of it is composed by Indus Valley DNA which itself is a compound of Iranian related DNA and ancient south Asian hunter gatherer DNA. This graphic tells a lot about our origin: i1.wp.com/www.brownpundits.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Screenshot-2019-09-05-11.11.37.png?ssl=1
oh interesting! 23andme said that U2b1 has its origins in the indian subcontinent and didn't really say anything about that, but i should do more research i guess
You're so cool, do people confuse you for half white/half black? I have many friends who are South Asian so I can tell the difference, but others who don't see a lot of them, think they are mixed girls. :P
that's true, i guess i just didn't expect so much of it since most of my relatives don't appear east/southeast asian at all, but it's really cool to know now!
Bangladesh is part of South Asia, but since we are in the eastern part of it, our people got some admixture from east Asian people. Bangladeshis are basically 88% South Asian and 12% east Asian genetically.
@@pareesa2712 I got my results, my paternal side I got Central Asian, Sri Lankan, northern Indian, Chinese and native American and Bengali. yes they did change with the new update! and i also got my test phased (my dad took a test too) so it changed again after that. i'm contemplating whether or not i should make an updated video on my results from the new update
Nice to see your results.. But I don't think it's correct to say that you have that Gujarat, south east asian dna in you.. it actually means you share some dna with the people who said they are from that region.. And also with the new update they might club those regions into a single region, if everyone from Bangladesh has some Gujarat, Karnataka, or southeast Asia..
