    Nice job with 'break shots' Scott! It was cute to cut to the animals on the farm, while 'Mother Hen' = Becky, was explaining. MY YOU EXPLAIN WELL AND THOROUGHLY ! Mother Hen/Becky! = Juuuust a NATURAL! Scott, I was sooOOOOooo happy that the vid cut away to a different visual other than Becky holding those 'Chicky-Babes'! WHEW! One chicken, next shot; Two chickens, next shot; Three chickens...Dear Lord! How was she going to manage 4?! Together, you are quite the TALENTED TEAM! Your chickens are soOOOoo chill with you Becky...It proves your 'genuineness' and love of all things in nature. God's blessings on you and Scott and fam. You come along as a 'treat' in this crazed world!

    That type of oats are not available to us here in Trinidad and Tobago. I add flax seeds and rolled oats to their feed. I also ferment alot and they go crazy for moringa leaves.

    We rarely fed our chickens grit. Instead, we feed them crushed oyster shells(acts just like grit), and we crushed up their eggshells after we used the egg. Both have lots of calcium. I like that you went through and showed a break down of what you feed them. Happy chicken, happy kitchen!

    • @BeckysHomestead

      I do feed both crushed oyster shells and grit. I think it benefits them and keeps them laying lots of eggs☀️❤️☀️

    My 9 Rhode Island Red chickens plucked the rear end feathers of 4 chickens. It was bare skin!
    I started feeding them 2 (now 3, cuz the tuna cans are now 1/2 water) cans of tuna, twice a week and dried meal worms everyday. VIOLA!
    Chickens stopped plucking others feathers.
    AND I get bigger, cleaner, and heavier eggs.
    Soooo, my chickens needed PROTEIN.
    I'm a city girl now in small town, learning country ways. ❤️ It!

    My chickens we were given from a chicken meat farm since they were to big for the truck load they were to go on but we have had them for a while but they have laid no eggs yet also they are pretty young only a few months old so I was wondering if you could tell me if it where they come from that makes them bad layers or just to young or is it something else

    Great advise! Does heat play a part if they've stopped laying? Central Florida has been so hot these past weeks, I wonder if that is a contributing factor. Mine are also molting quite a bit these past weeks. Should I add something to their diet? Thank you for all your help with chickens! You're the BEST!! ❤🐔🐓🐣🐤🐥

    • @whitehawkproduction
      @whitehawkproduction 4 роки тому +1

      They usually won't lay eggs when they're molting. Energy is going into making new feathers. Dry cat food is good for extra protein. I will provide it in the winter when bugs are scarce or when they are molting.

    • @wendydriggs1539
      @wendydriggs1539 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, many hens will stop laying or lay less often when it is really hot or when they are molting. Try to keep them as cool as possible and up their protein intake.

    • @BeckysHomestead
      @BeckysHomestead  4 роки тому +1

      Chickens don't lay eggs when they molt. This is a strange time for them to molt. I live in FL and my hens lay all summer. They need dark shade and just let them chill, don't let anything chase them around.☀️❤️☀️
