Three ways you can help protect our Sarasota County waterways!

Here are three ways you can be proactive stormwater maintenance citizens to help prevent flooding and protect our local water quality:
1. Never put anything down a stormwater drain. ❌
2. Pick up yard clippings and pet waste. 🐕
3. Remove clogged drains or report the issue to 311. 📞
Storm drains are the openings you see along curbs and are a part of our stormwater system. Rainwater that enters storm drains is transported through the stormwater system to nearby ponds, lakes, streams, and ultimately the Gulf of Mexico.
The water that enters storm drains does not go into a treatment facility, so it’s up to us to make sure the water is not polluted with excess nutrients from fertilizers or yard clippings or debris from storms! 🤝
