I just want the animation to be longer than 20 minutes. It’s tough waiting a couple years every time for so little content, even if that content is the best thing ever.
Yeah it’s rough but the amount of warhammer media we’re getting each year is growing exponentially it’s only a matter of time before things come out regularly
Given that Pederson probably has a team to work with for this one, rather than doing it by himself like last time, I think it's likely that Astartes II will be *significantly* longer than the first one.
The original Astartes was my first ever experience with 40k. To see it come full circle after learning about his journey as an animator is absolutely amazing.
@@TheBroGamer14082 He started with that and somewhat disappeared. Everyone speculated he got in legal trouble but GW just hired him and kept him quite busy. He's done multiple cutscenes for games and was on that big Secret Level Amazon project as of late.
He upgraded their entire animation department. Watch any animation without his involvement and it makes you go "Damn animation must be hard as shit cuz this looks 1 guy made it in his basement....wait wha-"
A member from the retributors, son of medusas, scythes of the emperor, angel vermillion and mortifactors. All coming together to form a death watch unit would be awesome
I think that all the footage in the trailer was Syama’s old footage. But the bar for animation has been increased significantly since the Secret Level episode and so the new stuff will look totally different.
Largely, but there has definitely been changes. The V1 teaser had Lamenters in there... which have sadly been replaced. Always love Lamenters getting bodied.
This is a comment I left on a video of the original Astartes videos. I thought you guys might find it interesting. I am hoping to see the same level of detail in this area present in the first. "It might not be apparent to the average 40k fan but as a veteran of the British Army I can tell this guy also understands engagement ratios, ammo conservation, fire superiority, marksmanship, room clearance, and basic fire and manoeuvre. I wouldn't be surprised if he had national service in his country, some kind of connection to give him this info or maybe he's a vet volunteer. I will explain. Marksmanship - Right when the marines exit their boarding barge there is a shot inside the helmet of one of them. You can clearly hear him take a breath in and out before engaging the humans. We are trained to take a long steady breath in and out then hold before firing. Engagement ratios - regular humans are like figure 11s (cardboard targets) for astartes. This is shown by how many they engage at one time and how nonchalant they are while fighting them. Later on when they fight the psykers they just happen to outnumber them 3:1. This is generally the ratio modernised militaries like to engage on. This makes sense because the psykers are on or above the astartes level. Urban combat which this ship boarding would fall into (in our world) has a ratio of 12:1 !! But Astartes are another level so we'll let them off. Ammo conservation and fire superiority - This is also demonstrated by the Manor in which they engage humans vs the psykers. When fighting....well wiping out the humans they fire in single shot, using only what they need to. When they fight the psykers who they know to be powerful, they put out hundreds of times the volume of fire than they receive. Fire superiority along with manoeuvre tempo have been shown as key to winning fire fights in studies. Room clearance - this can bee seen when the marines are moving through corridors. The lead guy stops, smashes a door in and fires into the room at what are presumably humans. This allows the bulk of the unit to jog on past where the same sort of thing is repeated. When they are taken by surprise with the auto gun, the member cut off by it stops to deal with the threat while his squad mates carry on covering their areas and moving forward. They do do the sill back to the wall then exposing their entire body thing when at a corner (think gears of war). But overall it gives the impression of high competency. Fire and manoeuvre - this is seen in the Psyker fight. Both left and right flanks are taken by two teams of 2 brothers. One even takes the high ground where it is available. Then they use a diversion to distract and suppress the enemy while a full frontal is executed by their lead member. When one flank is taken out by the pyskers the other flanking team begins moving again. You can even see marines leap frogging as one empties his mag. You don't seen anything remotely as accurate in other animations. Manoeuvre tempo - As I already stated manoeuvre tempo was on of the key factors to winning a firefight in a study into this field. Notice how when the marines fight humans they jog or walk. When facing the psykers they sprint."
