I got a tablet stand for $5 lol. But then again I'd list a $50 tablet stand too because the more expensive the product, the more affiliate commissions. Same concept applies to a $200 bluetooth keyboard (I paid $40 for mine and it's the best thing ever)....so I don't blame you, I'm just saying, nothing is more apparent that you're seeking affiliate commissions than when you post links to the most expensive versions of that product lol.

You're pretty much the only reviewer to touch on the Samsung adaptations to correct the aspect ratio and orientation of apps, along with using web apps. You're still among the best at demonstrating DeX, too. The only things I'd like to see that weren't noted here is the Tab S8's new ability to run DeX in portrait mode, and highlighting DeX's developer mode which forces otherwise incompatible apps to work in DeX.

I love my tab s8 ultra for work! We use browser based software. I use note 20 and use samsung flow. Nobody talks about Samsung flow enough. I basically just have my phone on stand-by on my tablet. Even apple users are surprised they don't have this feature.

Awesome review as always and im loving my tab s8 ultra. Good thing about the pre orders is that samsung included the keyboard cover free. The size is perfect for me because of work flow and music scoring and other content creative aspects. I do still have my gaming laptop for that though. But the video is just stellar on this tablet.

Oh man, once Android finally nails the optimisation of Apps for tablets, it's game over for the ipad. These new samsung tablets, are light years ahead of the ipad in features, it just needs that Apple quality app support.

Thanks for the review. I'll comment on a few things. The few apps that don't play nice like Instagram for example can easily be rectified with a one time setting change in Labs. You briefly mentioned that but indicated this is a difficult task. The keyboard cover is a lot of money but worth it in my opinion vs some other random 3rd party keyboard especially if you're packing it around since it acts to help protect the tablet as well. I agree the battery life is quite good and feel they did a good job in that department.

I got the keyboard for free due to the pre order deal and I agree it's awesome and much better than the S7+ keyboard. However, if people aren't getting it free or for under $150 I'd highly suggest a cheap $30 Bluetooth keyboard and Bluetooth mouse. They work fantastic and it's obviously much cheaper. The only negative part of them is portability. The keyboard cover is fantastic for transportating them together.

I wanted to come on here and thank you again for pointing me towards the Lamy stylus. I originally hoped that I could use it across all my Galaxy devices and my surface devices, which didn't work. But it does work across all of my galaxy devices (except the Z Fold 3 of course), but it has become my daily driver for note-taking. And I'm finishing up my Bachelor's degree so that means a metric F-ton of note-taking, and it is easier to just use Lamy instead of the various S-Pens that come with my devices. The reason I'm coming on here to thank you again is that I got the tablet stand that you showed in this video, and I LOVE it for my Tab 8 Ultra. It solves a problem I have with not being able to have a second screen for my surface while on campus. And it just looks good too. I just accepted a job in assurance so I'm sure this setup will serve me great moving forward into my new career, so I feel like that deserves an extra thanks. :).......
p.s. still waiting for an answer on how to force apps into landscape mode on the Tab Ultra, and I couldn't find the setting for the mouse cursor gestures. Where are those hiding again?

I am an owner of atop of the line specced out Tab S8 Ultra. I pre-ordered it and thus got the $350 keyboard for free. I also ended up getting the standard Samsung cover for it with the included $50 accessory pre-order credit. I use the standard cover 90% of the time. As a male I find the portability issue to be a non issue. I could see how the smaller S8+ would be a better fit for a more petite Thao Huynh. My over all experience so far has be superb.

I'm having zero problems with the notch, won't show watching a video and split screen (which is so good on this device) fits around it perfectly. I am a desktop user that never liked laptops, so this is a perfect companion that gives me all Ineed when going mobile, just waiting for my free pre-ordered keyboard, couldnˋt be any happier with the device.

I do love the big screen. I also have the keyboard and it did cost alot but it is very handy. I love the fact that it lights up and the keyboard doubles as a screen protector when in transit.

If I was 25 years younger and still in college, that giant widescreen giving you two nice sized split windows would be great for working out problems on one side, having the electronic version of the book pulled up on the other. That looked great.
But I can’t imagine lugging that thing around to classes.

The performance is excellent, and the battery lasts more than two days after watching movies for ten hours! fantastic video. As others have said, this is the first video I'm hearing about new features i wasn't aware of. I just got my ultra and was really annoyed about the app orientation issue, but apparently there's a fix for that. I don't know where to find it, but at least i know it's lurking somewhere!

The thing about Samsung: options. That is why I love Samsung and always have a Samsung phone. I typically use my iPhone as my business phone and my S22 Plus as my personal, and sometimes I switch them out, but every time I do I miss my Samsung. I just spent some time watching iPad reviews and most of the reviews talked about what you *can't* do and what features are missing on the various iPads, rather than all the stuff you *can* do and all the things that are included. Samsung will always have a place in my heart because they understand the importance of options!

Nice review. I would rather have the magnetic cover with the kickstand and pen compartment for a reasonable price and use my own portable mouse and keyboard. I tried out the keyboard cover at Best Buy and the keyboard is average at best, certainly not worth $350.

its great that samsung is trying to get some sort of optimisation for apps, and that there obviously are workarounds. but tbh, i feel like android will either never get that step up or get it very much later, as i noticed that very few developers of "apple only" apps are actually willing to make an android variant. As much as i am hopeful that that ios app devs would loosen up a bit on their apple bias, im not gonna hold my breath for it. quite a few times you see "we plan on making an android variant in the future" and then in a few months, when the app gets really popular, you find "we are not going to make an android variant, apple is just much better and we cba to make a product more accessible to everyone" *ahem procreate ahem*
obviously im salty about procreate, but this is such a common thing ive noticed among quite a few developers. even if an app that was originally for ios comes to android, it isnt optimised nicely. the base version is released and then never touched/ updated again or at least it takes an extremely long time for it to catch up to its ios variant. frustrating. I do understand that there are either single developers or very small teams who are not financially or technologically equipped to make an android variant. this isnt about those people, i understand that fully, but i just hope someone gets my frustration lol

Depending on "throttling" next year 😂, this Ultra has positioned itself for me to be the last tablet to purchase because of a) price point, b) size and c) potential App support or lack thereof.
As you mentioned with productivity, video editing is a key part of that, and until that's taken seriously enough on tablets, a laptop/PC is necessary. Solid video! 😁

PowerDirector it works fine. I use it from tablet, phone or laptop. Can start on one and end up on another. You choose Android apps by what YOU want to do. Android has had tablet apps since honeycomb.

I bought this tablet, and it should be here in a few weeks. That being said, I bought it for myself.....but you gave me a good idea. My son loves to draw, so I'm thinking about letting him use this tablet from time to time. Not only could he draw on it, but he could have a drawing app, and have a picture open at the same time to either copy or use as a reference. I think I'll like it, but I think he'll love it lol.

well, i just got this "tablet" to complement my wacom PC. It works really well as a second screen (an expensive 2nd screen .. considering i could get a much, MUCH better one if it was really just about the screen)
I had watched a few other reviewers .. and they almost all said that "this is thin and you can use it in your hand like a standard paper..." - which, i must agree with you, i cannot. It is NOT light and also not of a size you can really balance in your hand - especially because the bezels are so thin and you cannot really grab it.
The s-pen is great .. cant really notice a significant improvement over the older s-pen (which i use on my note phone) - they are both ... OK - but no match for the Wacom Cintiq .. drawing on the Cintiq is just leagues better.
The keyboard is a disappointment, i agree. My partner has a Surface Pro 5 - and the design and feel of the keyboard there is much, much better. (also the surface pro pen is better, i must say)
Where i do not agree is the notch. I simply "do not see" it anymore. Just like an iPhones´ notch, it kind of disappears after a while. It is an odd choice by Samsung to place so much emphasis on a dual camera setup - considering i could do without any front facing camera - but i must say .. it does not bother me.
As for the price .. over 240000 ISK definitely is too much .. then again, i did buy it - so maybe it is not "too" much?
