Certified Mobile RV Technician, Darren Koepp, walks you through removing and replacing the original front leveling jacks (landing gear) that had seized up and were no longer operating on this 5th wheel RV trailer. This RV owner decided to go with the Ultra Fab 5th Wheel Jacks which required some slight modifications to the support brackets for proper installation.

Very good job. Thanks for your time.
Very good job! Your camera work, the actual work, and your explanation . I'm going to look into replacing just one jack on my RV because the main gears inside the leg are jumping or slipping somehow. They seem rounded off from years of use with the gears not being a tight enough fit into each other. Also, it seems to me separate controls for each jack isn't all that necessary.
Outstanding work.
Thank you great info.
Nice work! 😀
Wow looks like it took 2 days to complete. Bummer, I would have hated to pay for that repair. Great job as always.
Very helpful 👍🏻
Thanks helped a lot
Thank you very much for sharing all this info. I'm hooked. LOL
Hi Tom, thanks for watching. Many more videos planned. Happy camping.
Why would you put the switch where you cannot see the landing legs when you’re trying to operate it
Thanks for sharing
Question: one of my landing leg on the driver side (right leg when facing rig) on my 2006 cougar 278efs does not extend or desend up or down manually or electronically with the switch.. Only the left side does.. I had my rig delivered from stelaership and they absolutely knew about the faulty leg..
Now to lift it back on the truck the side that extends goes up putting all the weight on the right side making it look like its bending!!!
How much will this run me ?
I have a 2011 montana with the same problem the Jack's were not strong enough for the weight of a montana with a motor on each side solved the problem
What is the tongue weight of your rig? Did you use the Ultra Fab Jacks?
Thanks!
I liked this video, I'd like to just change out the 2nd landing leg as the motor is fine on the power side.
How much are these.
hello I have a question we are in our rV and it dropped in the front what would we have to do to see what happened we can no longer lift our front of our rig to hitch our truck any suggestions?
I found your vlog was interesting thanks. I saw your #1main man
(Well his feet anyway 😉)
How do these compare to the Reese 8,000 lbs. 5th Wheel Electric Landing Gear Trailer Jack Set. Great Video Thank You.
I want to lift the my trailer to replace and old piece of wood. What kind of jack are using to support the weight. I have an 5th wheel Automate trailer.
Did you leave trailer hooked up to vehicle for stability when jacking up trailer?
I have a 08’ Keystone Raptor that weighs over 12k pounds. The landing gear is bent bad on both from hurricane. If I got 2-20k bottle jacks, can I get it lifted to put it on my gooseneck? Thank you. I’m picking it up this Friday from some family that sold it to me.
Are both ears supposed to fit under the rv frame brackets as support? It seems to me that is the point of the jacks, but noticed on some diagrams only one ear is providing bottom support and the other fits above the second rv frame bracket. Anybody have info/ideas on this?
One ear should be enough to support the whole RV on its respective side. As long as the entire jack is properly seated in the top and bottom clamp assemblies. What I've seen on some of these jacks is one ear is on the top and the other is on the bottom. That will hold the jack totally in place and not allow it to move either up or down. Unfortunately different manufacturers have not standardized the dimensions of these ears so you have to do what I did in my video to modify a little bit to make it fit.
I was asking about motor home jacks
I have a 2005 35' Cameo by Carriage. It has electric landing jacks. It uses one motor with the cross bar to the other. If I need to replace one, is there a benefit in replacing both with independent jacks and motors as you did in this video vs staying with my current configuration?
The dual motor setup is more robust then the one motor/crossover tube system you have now. As he showed in the video, the shear bolt is a weak link. Additionally, the gear box on the one motor system is plastic gears and they tend to wear out.
I’m wondering the same thing. I have one side not working and it’s the side that the bar connects to. Could I just leave the motor on the side and remove the bar and install one of these on the other to have independent stabilizers.
@@nathansnider4678 You'd have to determine if both the old and new motors turned at the same speed. Otherwise one side will go up faster then the other.
Ultra Fab does not match very well with the Lippert system!
