Definitely heard from a lot oif people that they found Pictomancer's skill showcase a bit overwhelming and there are a lot of moving parts-- so I made it my goal to explain it as simply and as piece by piece as possible so you too can be hyper craycray hyped for Pictomancer in Dawntrail like I am!!!!
Wow I thought the exact opposite I thought Viper was very overwhelming but thought Picto was very simplistic. Also I was kinda disappointed there is only one weapon Canvas and one Landscape

I think you got some of the basic rotation spells a tad wrong. I'm pretty sure it's Red Fire 🢂 Green Aero 🢂 Blue Water for the initial (additive light; RGB) rotation, then you go into the subtractive rotation (CMYK) of Cyan Blizzard 🢂 Yellow Stone 🢂 Magenta Thunder. EDIT: Also, interesting bit of info: Someone on Twitter pointed out that these combos are inspired by additive and subtractive light (red, green, and blue make white; cyan, magenta, and yellow make black), which could lend context to why the RGB combo has White Holy as a finisher and why the CMYK combo has Black Comet as a finisher.
@@dtk1981the pictomancer looks cool, but calling it a pride gauge is kind of cringe. Why not just call it Noah’s Gauge? It’s just more virtue signaling

I thought about the two defensive looking utilities for a few hours and my best guess is that the personal buff is a barrier that procs the mystery party buff, which itself might function like a budget deployment tactics? Allowing you to decide whether to have a big shield on yourself or tiny shields on the whole party. They def both look defensive and I cant see any other reason why one defense buff would need to be procced by another.
Do you guys think there will be more motifs that unlock with leveling? Right now we see the moogle, hammer and the stars scene, do you think we'll get more like the spring springan Krill summoned in the trailer?
The only thing im curious about is redrawing canvas stuff in the middle of the fight cause youre not doing damage while drawing. I hope it doesnt feel bad.
It'll feel normal I guess, it's just part of the rotation. I know it's not the same, but it's kinda like applying dot, right? You "waste" a gcd but that'll eventually pay off in the future
The potancy of when you bring it to life and attack with it is usually very high to compensate. The bigger issue is to find a good moment to paint and not get interupted by mechanics. And you also do have Swiftcast which can make a painting ''free''.
What I don't understand is why you would even use the elemental attacks... the canvas abilities appear at first blush to be stronger and numerous enough to keep you more or less occupied. I like the elemental attacks so I'm kinda hoping it's not primarily canvas...
From what I understood of the liveletter and the infographic, it looks like the buttons that render your creature and weapon motifs are charged actions. So your elemental Aetherhue spells become the filler for when you are waiting for those to come off cooldown.
Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but this reminds me of old summoner with the amount of OGCDs, which I absolutely missed and was extremely disappointed with new summoner.
as a common courtesy for landscape party buff, move to close range vicinity of boss beforehand when it's placed so that tanks and melee dps will also be affected too. It isn't a snapshot party buff like most.
I genuinely love that so many people wrote this job off as a joke, cutesy job, and now are too intimidated to play it, or are genuinely interested in trying it out.
This actually does sound interesting. Not entirely different from what I was hoping for, which was basically Ninja with colors instead of mudras. It sounds pretty simple on the surface, but with a lot of room for minmaxing. I'm a bit disappointed that the 1-2-3 is just all on the same button, but maybe we'll actually be able to separate them like some other skills as has already been talked about.
We're likely gonna have to wait for the media tour for that one because the showcase dor viper was absolutely incomprehensible. Not even they seemed to know how it worked or how to explain it.

@@Havok135 Pictomancer is not even complicated though. It's very simple to grasp once you play it. And the combo buttons even change so you don't need to have 3 slots on your hotbar.
Way too complicated it's on par or slightly more xomplex than newest healer. Too much work for too little benefit. Dawns new additions are all disappointing me regretting pre ordering.

when I made my controller hotbar mockup for this i used the Motif system as: Paint>Render>Combo
It's "Madeen" a Green Wing Lion summon from the other FF series.
I prefer "Bob Ross Gauge" and it probably already possible to glam as one.
Finding out it's called pride gauge got a giggle out of me. Low hanging fruit for a name tbh😆

Would really like a second weapon motif. Only having the hammer is fine, but it is wasted potential. Where is the pictomancer’s creativity?

Cause the canvas has a cool down and the main canvas tool you'll (the monster one) is and ogcd
Because the canvas abilites have cooldowns that are quite long when the charges are done. So the other stuff is filler.
