BEST demo I've seen of this unit! If more people see this vid you can bet your arse it will be sold out at all L&M shops soon! Excellent playing mate, you're like a Rock Juke Box that was impressive!
I have this unit. I bought it for it's size and sound. I use a Sanyo power block to run it with Boss WL-20 wireless. Run it all through a Headrush FRFR108. Nothing I can't do with this setup. Portable as hell and all I need is one plug for the Headrush. Thanks to these videos, I'm learning more everyday the power of this little unit. I'm just not into hauling around a lot of pedals and amps anymore.
Question!!! Please answer!! So I have a GT-1. I currently just play in my room and record on my PC. But is it possible to play with a drummer and bassist with that Headrush frfr108, and also can it handle small gigs? Nothing too over the top professional, but just humble small-medium gigs?
Great to hear playing this sounds instead of presets. When I buy new multi fx I always set clean, crunch and solo patch with reverb or delay ready for gig. Simple settings, 3 patches, just 1-2 clicks away. Later I play with fx and expand knowledge. That way I enjoy new toy and don't get nervous. I will buy this baby because of it's size and mobility, because it runs on batteries, have tap tempo and aux in. I was Zoom user before but new Zooms are lacking in some things. Now they have aux in, but G1 four don't have tap tempo button like old G2, and G3n doesn't run on batteries like previous G3. Great job Zoom, I am switching to Boss...

No, these are all custom built patches. This video is to showcase what CAN be done with some custom tweaking of the GT-1, not what it sounds like out of the box.
Hi Kanishka, I've done exactly what you've asked on my youtube channel. In this playlist I've done 5 Tone Design Segments. Check them out here: ua-cam.com/video/FGn8ZFS8MEM/v-deo.html
What an excellent demo! Shows the results you can achieve when you spend a little time to tailor make your own presets. I have the GT-1 and it is amazingly good! I replaced my Boss ME-80 with it and I believe it's the best sounding Boss Multi-FX yet (I've had a few) and so configurable with six assigns available. I've added a separate double non-latching footswitch as CTRL 2 and 3 and with that, live control (for me) is almost as good as the ME-80. Love it!
Hi Eli, using Tone Studio you can download GT-100 patches from the library and most seem to work OK (mixed results). The GT-1 will just ignore data it can't use such as the GT-100's second pre-amp etc so you might need to fine-tune the GT-100 patches to your liking. In the library, most patches have the GT-1 Easy Edit equivalent listed which is just three numbers to dial up using the control knobs. Some of the Easy Edits get surprisingly close too! Rick.
Yes Joseph, that's right... certainly the quality of the GT-1's output is as good as anything out there at any price! (IMO). But when loading GT-100 patches, due to the difference in some design features, you may have to tweak them a little to get them to sound the way you want.
Here you go! Apache: Bridge (Pos. 1) Voodoo Chile: Neck (Pos. 5) Revolution: Bridge (Pos. 1) While My Guitar Gently Weeps: Bridge (Pos. 1) Iron Man: Bridge (Pos. 1) The Ocean: Bridge (Pos. 1) More than a Feeling: Bridge (Pos. 1) Eruption: Bridge (Pos. 1) Comfortably Numb: Bridge+Middle (Pos. 2) Walking on the Moon: Bridge (Pos. 1) Pride and Joy: Middle+Neck (Pos. 4) Satch Boogie: Bridge (Pos. 1) Sweet Child: Neck (Pos. 5) When I Come Around: Bridge (Pos. 1) One Day Remains: Bridge (Pos. 1)
It'd work just fine, but the Blackstar ID: Core 20 has its own digital FX built into the amp, so for the best results try not to overdo it by stacking effects or amp models on top of eachother. That is, we'd recommend you choose as clean/neutral sound on the amp as possible and have most of the effects and models come from the GT-1.
No, none of these are factory settings. These patches do not come loaded on the GT-1 by default. There are plenty other videos on UA-cam to show the default patches. Loved this demo, but is there an easy way to access these sounds rather than trying to figure it out? I looked up the link provided by someone, but still didn’t provide enough info for a fairly new beginner.
So are all these famous tones he’s using presets? Or did he manually tweak and create each one? Or are they presets you can download after buying the unit? I’m looking for something where I can have the different sounds preset like this for covers, as I’m not that great at creating my own tones or matching them. For example, if I wanted to play an AC/DC song, GNR, Beatles, and then RHCP whether at home or jam session would I be able to download these types of tones? The presets in the cheaper little units usually aren’t that great so that’s why I’m looking at this one. Awesome demo probably the best I’ve seen!
He manually tweaked each one and saved them as custom presets. A lot of the tones demonstrated in this video (and many more mimicing the artists' tones you mentioned!) can be downloaded from Boss Tone Central.

Absolutely. Connect the RC-30 after the GT-1 for the looper to record the tones and effects coming out of the GT-1. Or, connect the RC-30 before the GT-1 to record your loops clean and then alter the effects applied to the loop in real time on the GT-1.

@@longandmcquade yea, I heard that in the second listen. My bad. But I do wonder, would it be better to use a tube amps distortion and use he GT1 for other effects or use the GT2 for both? Anyway Thank You!!!
@@LEON4PRES Depends on the amp you have! If you already have a tube amp, then there's no harm in trying the GT-1 with it and removing amp modelling and using it just for multi-fx. @@longandmcquadeNow this is excellent advice!! Yes. The GT-10 was a great unit in its time, but it was originally released about 13 years ago. The GT-1 is about 10 years newer than the GT-10, and there have been a lot of advancements in digital modeling technology in the past 10 years. The form factor and tweakability might have been reduced from the GT-10 to the GT-1, but the latest-generation sound engine and presets would make the GT-1 sound much better than the GT-10.
Yes the GT-1 is much more recent and gives you much better/updated sounds over the GT-8, but you might find its form factor a bit limiting if you're used to the GT-8 size and interface. The GT-100 would be closer to the generational successor of your GT-8.
No backing tracks are included with the GT-1. This is a performance using the GT-1, and the backing track is a medley put together by Josh for the sake of this performance and demonstration.
Saludos
@@longandmcquade After a LOT of research, I'm now up to speed on multi-effects pedals and the patches such as Josh available. It was Josh's GT-1 demo that sent me down that rabbit hole!
No the tones demonstrated in this video are not default presets included with the unit. They were custom-created by Joshua (the presenter) in order to showcase what's possible with the GT-1 after spending a little time tweaking and perfecting tones of popular songs. There are lots of other demos on the internet that showcase the included presets, so we wanted this demo to be a bit different from the others. Josh’s GT-1 patches are available on BOSS Tone Central. Here’s the link: bosstonecentral.com/liveset/detail/classic_patches_by_josh_munday/
Check out all the patches available on BOSS Tone Central. bosstonecentral.com/liveset/category/gt-1/ Josh Munday has his own patch collection but you might want to also try the Rock Classics and Rock Legends collections.
So it sounds sick but is it practical? Like, say I have to change patch mid song, can I have a bank of several patches or do I have to scroll through 99 of them?
There are no banks and no manual mode in the GT-1, so to switch patches you'd have to scroll through them. The ideal way to set it up would be in the order of your setlist, the same way Josh did in this demo. Every tone change would be set up in the next patch, so all you'd have to do is step on the up button every time you want to switch your tone. With proper planning before your gig, there's no second-guessing or tap dancing on the board to get your tones. Another way would be to "fake" banks. You might have the first patch as Song 1 Clean, the second patch as Song 1 Drive, and then switch up and down back and forth between those for the song's verses and choruses. Each patch also has a modifier that can be turned on and off with the CTL1 button, and each patch can have a unique setting for the expression pedal. So you can essentially have 4 different sounds per patch - just the bare patch, the patch with CTL1 activated, the patch with the expression effect brought in, and the patch with both CTL1 and expression effects. So if each song in your setlist has 2 patches dedicated to it, then you can have up to 8 tones per song, and every tone for that song is only 1 or 2 taps away.
You're very welcome! I own a GT-1 and I've been programming it for the last couple of weeks - it's beginning to sound great! I plan on using it with my band, both live and for rehearsals. I'm going to use the built-in amps and cabs too - they sound absolutely stunning! Cheers!
Well, I've never really needed that - especially not with all the assigns you can set up in the GT-1. Just add an extra foot switch like the FS-7 and then you're good to go! Yes, a superb creation :-)

@@longandmcquade After a LOT of research, I'm now up to speed on multi-effects pedals and the patches such as Josh available. It was Josh's GT-1 demo that sent me down that rabbit hole!
Where did you collect all those sound i have one gt1 much dont about ....need your help
These were all custom built by Josh and some are available for download here: bosstonecentral.com/liveset/detail/classic_patches_by_josh_munday/
excuse my ignorance, but are these presets included in the multi-effect, or otherwise were can we get them from?
No the tones demonstrated in this video are not default presets included with the unit. They were custom-created by Joshua (the presenter) in order to showcase what's possible with the GT-1 after spending a little time tweaking and perfecting tones of popular songs. There are lots of other demos on the internet that showcase the included presets, so we wanted this demo to be a bit different from the others.
Josh’s GT-1 patches are available on BOSS Tone Central. Here’s the link: bosstonecentral.com/liveset/detail/classic_patches_by_josh_munday/
Any chance you can share a link for the patches he used?
Is it better than BOSS ME - 80 ????
The GT-1 is much better than the ME-80, yes.
You should definitely try one out - you'll like it :-)
Thanx a lot for replying me :)
You're very welcome!
I own a GT-1 and I've been programming it for the last couple of weeks - it's beginning to sound great!
I plan on using it with my band, both live and for rehearsals.
I'm going to use the built-in amps and cabs too - they sound absolutely stunning!
Cheers!
I wish it came with some more switches like ME 80 to control effects onboard manually like stomps . But still GT -1 is really a superb creation.
Well, I've never really needed that - especially not with all the assigns you can set up in the GT-1.
Just add an extra foot switch like the FS-7 and then you're good to go!
Yes, a superb creation :-)
do these presets come loaded in the unit?
No these presets were custom built by Josh. They're available from Boss Tone Central. bosstonecentral.com/
Hello, thank you for the presentation, I can not adjust my GT1 to have the sound of Confortably Numb. Can you help me.
thank you very much
