Ethiopian Taiwan is truly a sight to behold.
The non-aligned Japan was unironically my first ever playthrough of HOI4 back when I didn't even know how to frontline my soldiers to get them to the front faster.
I wanted to recreate a timeline where Japan went with the Northern Expansion doctrine and I took a large amount of Soviet territory but at a bad time, so I ended up losing it + Manchuria and Korea, evacuating to the home islands.
Even tho I stopped playing HOI4 for over a year now (the good ending) the playthrough will forever live in my mind rent free

They honestly need to make a new dlc for east asian focus trees. For Mongolia, reworked japan, siam, dutch east indies, British malaya etc. This is very necesarry, especially japan.

@@sto1238 All the nations I mentioned take part in the war. But the philippines really doesn’t have a juicy past to make non historical paths out of. It’s still fine but not that necesarry imo.

We need actual BoP and actual conquest missions related to that.
Also a cosmetic formable for Japan if they managed to conquer Siberia (Support Kodoha) or Australia (Purge Kodoha). Just like PRC, GGR, and Chinese Empire.
I feel that in hoi4 there is so much flavour that the mods should add and could easily add, extra reichkommisariats would be awsome too
I read in a book about the USSR and the Third Reich that the USSR deported so many Ukrainians to the far East that they had a panic that Japan would create a far eastern Ukraine (Ukrainian Manchukou is what they said) in the region, which is hilarious. That'd be a cool country.

I just got the vanilla game and am loving my first play through with Japan! With their large starting navy and army it’s fun to take them in whichever direction I want.
First thing I’ve done was to fabricate a war goal of conquest on the Dutch East Indies to get their oil and rubber.
I’ve pretty much conquered the East Indies now and looking towards capitulating the Netherlands before setting my sights on French colonies in Asia.
Manchuria I just pulled my troops out of. There aren’t any resources there and I’m not sure what the point is in holding it should Russia or China look to invade.
Also not sure what the point would be in taking China as they don’t have much in the way of resources either. Maybe pops and factories?

Tbh the quickest "fix" would be to pair democratic and communist paths into one group and fascist and monarchist into the other and remove exclusivity from their focuses. That's a lazy way, but it's something at least.

It was put in just for fun, I mean you can restore the Emperor or the Shogun but you don’t have the other fun monarchist stuff like Germany, Ethiopia, Spain or Poland. So yeah it could use an update but it’s cool.
