My favorite thing to do is 3d print the little plastic caliper caps and print em in a plastic that changes color at high temp, so I can easily look at the caliper to see how hot it is
Ive never messed with a 3d printer yet. But that sounds awesome to have that as a capability. What colors do they start as and what do they change to? What's the temp range?
I run semi metallic quad pad setup with shimano saint levers. I was sick and tired of breaking the master cylinder and the flimsy plastic reservoir cap. no complaints with the calipers though they are ultra powerful with the mdrp rotors
I find it a pain in the ass Magura rotors are 2mm, I built up a super light wheelset and wanted light rotors or some cool finned floating rotors with a bit of colour on but looks like I will have to run a hc front and sl.2 rear. Building up a Shigura setup though as I heard the ergonomics and durability of Magura levers are poor, but I know the Shimano levers feel great. The Hays rotor has a deeper brake track and wider splines, I also heard Magura pads sit slightly over the brake track on Magura rotors suggesting the brake track isn't deep enough.
Why not use the Storm SL.2 rotros front and rear if you are going for light weight? The regular Magura Storm HC are weighing in under its competitors so it is already a lighter option. As for the brake track, be sure that someone is using Magura adapters and not trying to reuse some SRAM or other brands laying around. They all do not mount in the same places. Nor do all brands use the exact same size rotor. Some are 180, others are 186 same with 203 and 200mm rotors.
The reach is adjsutable on either set up. The main difference comes down t the lever shape. The 2 finger lever are longer and straighter, the HC1 is shorter and has a nice curved hook on the end to keep your solitary finger in place.
Cracking plastic master cylinder, no thx. With crashes bein glike hit tur NG them with a hammer I guess I should not buy these as I have seen that they can fail, a dude crashed on a easy ride on a asphalt path. And ruined the master cylinder oil leaked. I was always skeptical. The main attraction of this brake is the magnets.
It will works on the MT5, but if someone has the extra cash to get the HC3 levers, they probably would have just opted for the MT7 or another higher end brake model altogether.

@@WattOnWheels it's like black/grey to orange to yellow to white, and will start to get white at like 45c
😂😂that’s freaking awesome. Sounds like a possible business idea. Patent it. Lol
you can barelt fit pads into the damn caliper on a normal sized rotor that tiny bit extra would be I'mpossible
Love Magura Brakes. Finally they are putting the HC 1 Finger on the MT5 brakes. Great video!
Thank you! It seems like the natural combination.

This is something Ive heard from a few people now. Maybe I will line up the parts needed to do the Shigura swap.
For budget 4 piston brake Formula Cura 4 is the best bang for the buck, but for max price Trickstuff Maxima, which is on my wishlist.

I will be sure to pay attention to the mounting spacing regarding the rotors when I build up this bike.
With the HC1 levers are ergonomics are perfect, the original lever was pretty crap.
Is the reach for the 2 finger lever nearer to the grips compared to the 1 finger? Or just the same reach but longer area fir the fingers ti grab on?

I have mt7 pro handle Hc3 👌
That lever looks very adjustable. How has the strength seemed with it? any flex?

Perfect adjustment and braking force. See my video to see how it all fits 🙂
I will definitely check it out.
where did you get the complete set?
This set came from Iron City Bikes in Pittsburgh. They ordered it through the wholesaler BTI. Most shops should be able to get parts through them.
Where did you get the 4 pads?
Iron City Bikes in Pittsburgh ordered them in for me.
Okay appreciate it! I like the idea of the single pad for each piston I get alot of brake fade when doing wheelies

Anyone using HC3 levers on MT5s?

@@WattOnWheels thanks for the quicl response. Strangely I got MT5s for quite a bargain along with hc3 levers. Might as well put them together.
@@martsmarts oh hell ya. If you have them, go for it.
