    64.5 HTA! Happy to see that finally on a kids' bike!

    Thank you so much for the review, I now got the Norco Fluid FS1 and it is such an unbelievable bike! It is truly a serious adult bike in a small package.
    The confidence I got from it is unreal, I can bomb down chunky stuff, and send big gaps!
    Now I ride the same pace as with my Dad, and in some cases faster, it won't that long and I will be faster than him!

      After 3 months of riding this Norco FS1, I can't believe how much progression I had, I can ride faster, send higher drops, and clear much bigger gaps. It just gives you so much confidence. Thanks again for the review!

    Could you guys check out / do a video on the orbea mx24 trail? Looks to be a good spec for dollar kids xc hardtail.

    For a 7/8 year old in YVR who will mainly ride on Fromme, Bert Flinn, Shed, Thornhill would you choose this bike or the RM 24" Reaper? I am trying to stick to a bike with a dropper (which the RM 26 has but the 24 does not). It is too bad that VPACE don't ship to Canada. Also the Trailcraft are more expensive and I don't think the resale value is as high as for a Norco or RM.

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  3 роки тому +1

      The reaper 24 is same frame as 26 so you can easily put in a dropper. Trailcraft will have as good resale value as the Norco or RM.

      @@TheBikeDads So what would you buy? Reaper 26 with dropper and install 24 wheels? Reaper 24? FS 1 24 but invest some money to get weight down? Or trailcraft maxwelll (which is more expensive than both)?

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  3 роки тому

      @@danjelvantijnintellijel756 for the terrain you are describing, Maxwell 24. If you are riding anything beyond Bobsled and Expresso on Fromme for the majority of your rides, I would look at Norco Fluid or Reaper 24. That said, Norcos new specs due this Fall may bring the weight down and put it comparable to Trailcraft.

      @@TheBikeDads It seems like the Maxwell 24 is such a solid choice, but also quite a bit more expensive than Norco. The thing that bothers me so much is how bad the colors and logo look for this brand! imho they look like cheap department store bikes for kids which is such a shame because they are obviously quality. Never skimp on graphic design consultation if this is not your forte. They could tweak this so easily to make the bikes look like they match the high price tag. Maybe my kids are different but they want their bikes to look just like the adults they ride with; sick, mini enduro bikes.

      These bikes have great resale value - so despite the high price tag as they outgrow it - your really only paying a few hundred bucks for an amazing bike for the few years.

    what the standover on this bike? the way norco list the standover on their geometry chart is useless.

    For better parts and less money, why would one not go for the YT JEFFSY Primus J 24?

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  4 роки тому +1

      YT is a good price and good looking bike with very similar parts. Should you want a bigger fork 145 vs 130mm, slacker by a degree and longer stays..this bike exists for more DH capability. The reach is also 20mm less on the Norco. Fluid 24 available in a cheaper build option should you want to save some coin.

    I don’t know much about bikes but isn’t that fork backwards?

    • @ChefIan73
      @ChefIan73 3 роки тому

      No, Manitou has their fork arch on the rear of the fork lowers.

    How does the 2019 Fluid FS 24" compare to this one??

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  4 роки тому +1

      much steeper HA at 68 and smaller reach by 18 mm. Suspension front and rear totally different as is most other components. Totally different bike...they just share the same name.

      The Bike Dads Whoa... Glad I asked! Thanks! I guess the FS 1 or Spawn Rokk are the only way to go for my competitive little ripper. If only I could get a deal on one! Well... @ least the Spawn can be sized upto a 26” down the road.🤔

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  4 роки тому

      Scott Tobin hmmmm, little more nuanced than that. There a number of 24 options now. It’s really a matter of narrowing down where kiddo will be riding the most, if he or she will be climbing and picking the most appropriate bike on weight, angles and build spec.

      @@TheBikeDads How would you rate the 2019 as use case? I got one offered for my boy. He's not the uber downhiller so if its a little bit more balanced and not super downhill oriented wouldn't be that bad.

  • @mtbmike9866

    You say it’s for a 7/8/9 yr old but Norco’s website says the 20” is for 7-10yr olds and the 24” is for 9-12yr.

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  4 роки тому

      MTB MIKE our that’s our experience. My nine year old is already on a 26 and soon 27.5. My six and half year old is already on a 24. If they fit, best to put them on biggest size wheel possible for a bike like this.

      @@TheBikeDads My 7.5yo is still way too small for this bike ( I bought one anyway). He's currently on a 20" Norco. You mention 140mm cranks in the video, figure that along with the shorter/lower stack One Up dropper I already have on the 20" will help get him to fit. Any recommendations on a 140mm crank that will fit the BB on this bike? The Trailcraft 140 crank? Thx
