What a great advertisement for owning a Tesla! Apart from the whole industries issue with depreciation (solved by long term ownership or buying a second life Tesla) what's not to like‽
I bought a 2nd hand Tesla that already had a battery replacement so I could ease into the new era of EV’s and learn the ins and outs and get on the environmental bandwagon of responsible earth stewardship… FAIL!! The 2nd battery died within 2 years (just after the warranty expired!) and then the motor died, too, after I had sunk more money into upgrading the onboard computer, suspension (Tesla wouldn’t safety-check otherwise), 12v battery, new door mechanisms, as well as tires, etc… So I will also never buy another Tesla! Their trade-in offers were insulting and they would accept no blame for the terrible build quality of their vehicle… Did I just get a lemon? Perhaps, but still..
What's it like to deal with slow charging and battery replacement before trying to resel combined with depreciation? Do you think NIO batery swap is viable?
I sold my model Y last year and I’m selling my model X next week. I used to be all-in. Two Teslas in the garage, power wall, solar, Tesla stock portfolio. The main reason I won’t be buying another Tesla… They have become uncool. I’m actually embarrassed to drive it. More importantly, they haven’t launched anything interesting in several years. I love my 22 model X, but they could have done a lot more to differentiate it from the 2017 model X that it replaced. It was a lazy refresh and it’s clear that Tesla is no longer interested in their premium vehicles. If the design of the cyber truck and taxi is an indication of their next wave design approach, then I’m out for good. Car design should seduce, not repulse. The design looks silly, and the quality has taken a massive step backward.
Good afternoon! I wanted to see if you would field this question for me. I recently had my air conditioner system replaced. I brought it into the service station and they said my air conditioner compressor grenaded causing the destruction of my air conditioner lines as well as the manifold. I asked if this happens every time or if this was a faulty design. He did not have much of an answer and since I am over 100,000 miles on my car I had to pay for the complete repair of over $3000 for my air conditioner system, has anyone else had this problem? Thanks
thanks andy been watching your videos since 2022 they are always well done and helpful. congrats on your success with you Tesla’s I have a 2022 Model Y and I love it. keep the vids coming I look forward to them
I know you provided the dealership trade in value of your two Teslas. I would be interested to know what the private seller re-sale value is on your Model 3 and your Model Y.
Question: I have a M3 2018 like yours. It has been over 6 years and I see where the AC should be service. Did you get yours serviced for the AC? If not why and if you did I would like to know your thoughts on this? I have under 50k miles on mine. It is over $600 to get it done. I am planning on keeping it for another 4 years or more.
1:25 noted your Marion, IL charging, LOL I was there back on April 8th (with about 50 other Tesla's trying to charge at the same eight chargers (only time I had to wait for a charger)) for the Eclipse. Small world.
After the price drop on the Model Y’s. It makes no sense to me to trade the MYLR for anything else. I’ll keep it until I retire. Will see what up then. I love the car. It’s the best daily I had ever own.
Paid $56,300 and today its worth $28,000! What is the cost today of a new model Y? Its not the cost at purchase, it's the rapid depreciation that is the problem. No matter the price, 50% loss of value in a year and a half is not normal. Especially when we know the cars popularity. Its telling me there is very little aftermarket for used EVs perhaps due to the battery life expectations by an ignorant public. EV buyers are a more intelligent group VS the gasoline mouth breathers.
Lmao should off leased then, if you are going to keep the car for 8-10 years don’t even think about resell value. And then a new battery pack at 6k will be a steal to keep that car running
That was due covid macro market conditions which drove up the costs of everything. Then the market returned to be more normalised. Not to mention Hertz unloading their purchases of Tesla's for other reasons
@@robertbrandywineLeasing is a far better idea than purchase but i drive nearly 20,000 miles a year. What is the milage penalty on the lease for exceeding 10k?
What appeared to be an anti Tesla turned out to be a solid endorsement of the products from a keep them long term perspective. We also have 2 Tesla's at home. A 2024 refreshed Model 3 DM and a 2018 Model X 100D. We had both leased Tesla's in 2021 (M3, MY) and so were not impacted by price changes or value depreciation for those cars. We purchased my wifes 2024 Model 3 and I bought the Model X from Tesla's used vehicle site. My wifes M3 refresh DM was actually less expensive that her 2021 single motor. The amazing deal was the Model X. It is a 6 seat X with 49K miles in great condition for $39,900. It had EAP which I upgraded to FSD for an additional $2K. That's $43K all in for a vehicle that sold new in 2018 or over $150K. It carries a 1 year full warranty and another two years for the battery and drive motors. I love driving the X and it is by far the best deal I've ever had on a vehicle in my long life of vehicle ownership. I feel for the individual who paid what with all the options was actually closer to $160K (6 seat, upgraded wheels, EAP) and lost over $100K in the trade-in to Tesla. Most non-Tesla people who have been in my X have thought it was a new car. It is certainly a lot of car for what I paid and like you, my battery is in that 93% capacity or 275 miles of range.
thanks for the vid, I referred and received charging credits. Now after a year they expired and removed them.. thanks tesla... so I dont refer anyone any more.
EV will transform the entire industry due to their longevity. 400,000+ miles are being recorded on the original batteries- and the newer batteries will prove to be more reliable. Prices on EV will continue to fall- Tesla stock skyrocketed because they reduced the cost to manufacture by 20% in 2024. The cost will be even lower in 2025...2026. Any other manufacturers os gas/hybrid reducing their prices?
The rumor is that you can buy a new Model Y for $30,000. If so, it's hard to believe that your 2 year old Model Y would still have a $25,000 residual value.
So the reason you arnt going to buy a new Tesla is you already have two that are paid off....I agree with the depreciation, doubt I'd buy another new one again.
Excellent video- and your take on "why replace" was Elon's vision all along. Longevity just adds up to better for the environment. Most young people will only purchase 2 EV in their lifetime...due to their extreme longevity. Think about how much money that will save them over their lifetime.
@@lukeav6097 Tesla have only been built for what, 14 years? The weak link is indeed the battery, and the numbers are ever increasing of owners that have 300,000+ miles on those old Tesla batteries. The batteries made today are much better than those that are lasting 300,000 miles!
Good job on the kids, but ya still supposed to have 1.5 pets buddy 🤪. Thanks for the video. This confirms that I can get a used Tesla cheap, but need to be wary of the repairs.
I can't buy one in my state due to dealer protection laws. If they came out with a self driving two door sedan for urban transportation I would buy that though but it better be offered in 2025 as that is the year I move to an electric car.
Excellent Review. My Model 3 is 6 years old with 13,000 miles on the odometer. Solar roof on house. Only repair cost 12 volt battery $85.00. Have hepa cabin filter for summer 2025. Will flush & install myself. Great last car.😊
You sure don't drive very much with those low miles. You should get out more and go on some adventures. I have a 2023 (March build) Tesla Model Y LR with 25,000 miles. The computer that controls the screen was freezing up and was replaced earlier this year. I have home charging and use the superchargers as needed on long road trips. The car is so fun to drive it almost seems like it gave me a reason to explore more. I love the one pedal driving. My daily commute round trip is less than 10 miles, so I've put on the extra miles by going on weekday and weekend road trips.
I take it your cars have never exhibited Tourette's Syndrome: the phantom braking, the ping-ponging beween lanes, the paranoia when merging. Well, lucky you. They said they were "already building" the Roadster v.2.0 back in 2017. Yet you haven't taken delivery YET???
Thank you Andy. I want to continue to see the longevity of the cars, there are enough people that are covering the new cars. I plan to drive mine into the ground as well.
Nonsense, Tesla is offering 0% -4% loans depending on credit. A lot of your reasons are very weak. The new model 3 is an amazing drive compared to old 3 and so on.
With regards to repairs, you clearly have had it good with tesla spare keys for my Volvo xc40 are 600 bucks AU YOU will Wake up when you realise other EV makers have trapped you back in service hell. But you probs wont make videos about that
Nice vid, but underwhelming... I thought this was going to be a disparaging vid, but instead it's a vid telling why you're keeping what you have. I can give you 10 reasons why I hate mine with number 1 being range, or the lack thereof! My 2019 SR+ has a whopping 15K miles on it and out of the 240 mile range it supposedly came with, I am only getting 140 actual miles, oh I can charge to 100%, but doesn't come close to showing 240, more like 200.
I have a 22 M3 RWD with 27k miles on it. Published range by Tesla 272 when new. I have the LFP batteries that are recommended to be charged to 100%. My car never charged to 272 miles at 100%. It now shows at 100% charge 254-256. I think the real world range is about 240. Of course depends on outside temperature and speed. Tesla warranty the batteries to maintain 70% of range for 8 years and 100k miles. depending on model this warranty has different parameters. If your range drops much more, you could qualify for a battery replacement.
Gosh. Your trade-in estimates are real stingers. We’ve had 2 2018 M3Ps and recently sold them. Tesla’s trade-in offers were low. One of them with 94,000 miles was offered $16,800. The other with 16,560 miles was offered $19,500. We sold them to Carvana ($18,800) and Carmax ($23,000) respectively. The two were sold to make way for the Tri Motor Cybertruck (Cyberbeast as it came to be known) I had on reservation since 44 hrs after reveal and delivered recently. The other was sold to make way for a much more practical MY AWD (Quicksilver!) where we took advantage of Q4 incentives, the Fed Tax Credit ($7,500) and the 0% interest 60mo loan. Couldn’t pass this up. Free money for 5 years!!!
Americans suffer from two syndrome: FOMO: Fear Of Missing Out GAS: Gear Acquisition Syndrome Both of these are huge factors that drive the “need” many have to buy the latest of whatever. I’m fortunate that I don’t have either of these (to an unmanageable degree). Sure, the new and shiny is always attractive. But I can resist. My ultimate question is this: Is there anything I need to do that I cannot do with what I have? My ‘21 M3 SR+ works great. It just crossed 50k miles, so no more warranty on the car (battery and power train still have many miles to go). But I’ve been on many 1,000 mile trips (including a 5,500 mile r/t to Louisville), and the car has reliably, capably, and comfortably made each of those trips! Plus it is absolutely amazing as a daily driver around town. The s/w updates, as you mentioned, constantly refresh my car, making it feel new and up-to-date, and the tech of the Tesla world make me feel like my car is not a 2nd thought of the OEM. This is who they are and what they do. Full stop. My feeling is that, if/when this car needs a new battery, I’m definitely going to buy a new battery instead of a new car. I’m hoping by then, Tesla would simply let me keep the old battery to use as a power wall. But yeah I’m not really tempted to get the latest and greatest - I already have it!
I didn’t really watch your video but I recently took delivery of 2024 model 3 performance to be used as my daily driver. I did black on black and got custom interior modification to change the white cloth materials to black Alcantara and red seat belts. Forged carbon inserts, UP lowering springs, hubcentric spacers and I’m loving it. And I come from a garage with Ferraris and Lamborghinis and I’m absolutely loving this for my daily. Not to mention it’s probably the quickest car I have off the line. We can’t get a plaid here in Australia but I think the new model 3 performance looks way better especially with the mods I’ve done. It’s literally the perfect daily so I think you should just get one.
................... you literally can't wait to demo the new Model Y! Here's why I will never buy another Tesla vehicle again: 1. DEPRECIATION. 2. PRICE FLUCTUATIONS 3. *I will lease.* And I will not take delivery on my Cybertruck because it drives like a fkn whale.
The new Tesla designs sucks so bad they literally stripped everything that made the model 3 look so unique. I don’t know who in the right mind would like the new refresh design..😂
Here's the real list of reasons not to buy a Tesla: 1. Everything creaks and rattles when driving. Quality is subpar 2. The car is glued together. It doesn't fell stable like other cars 3. It's not refined like other similarly priced cars 4. Maintenance/repair costs are realized on the backend when battery needs replacing 5. Interior material is cheap akin to a Kia Rio 6. Range vs number of charging station make no since 7. The battery can't take low outside temps or high outside temps 8. Needs constant charging for any real world use 9. Too many bugs in software that require frequent updates 10. MSRP for Model S should be $30,000 not $80,000 I sold my Tesla and bought a Toyota 4Runner and bought my wife a Lexus GX. Both can withstand extreme conditions, has high quality parts, very rugged and extremely reliable. Both vehicles are built like tanks and can take extreme abuse with ease. Teslas will fall apart if treated with any abuse. Stay away from Teslas if you value refinement, durability, reliability, safety, and comfort. Just buy a Toyota or Lexus.
My 22 40000km. Driving in -40c no problem. But we cover the front in the winter. No squeaks. No repair. Range ok, 250km in -40c. No softwarebugs. When gone hunting we use dacia duster 4wd. Not so big issue if we get some blood and hair in that and the groundclearance is better The dacia can have problems to start when its below -30c, i think its because the diesel doesnt flow but the batterycar is much easier to start in cold weather. And if you preheat with the app its even better

Give me a car which brings joy and I know I'll want to own 15 years from now (and will still have some resale value).
Reasons to buy new Teslas: 1) LiOn (in lieu of lead acid) low voltage battery in newer cars; 2) better ride with advanced suspension in refreshed model 3 and next year's model Y; 3) AI4 (now) or AI5 (in a few years); 4) better heat pump system; 5) ventilated seats; 6) new models (cybertruck) 6a) 48V LVS; 6b) steer by wire; 6c) rear wheel steering; 6d) ultimate cool factor...; 7) RGB cabin ambient lighting.

@lukeav6097 to be honest… I’m not a car person but the VWs and Audi I’ve driven are nice but imo the Tesla one door drive is a no brainer. The control you get on the daily is insane and $5 “fuel ups” with solar are game changer. Bought with a lease too so it becomes about 25k cheaper than RRP. 3.1c to 100km is dumb fast too. Either way though the battery is a non event.
I'll never buy another one, I returned mine after 2 years. Insurance is higher, I am saving $500 every 6 months after getting rid of my Model 3. Car was noisy, a rattle trap, very bumpy, uncomfortable seats, just absolute garbage.

+55k$ to less than 25k$ in two years.
Hello! So with all those Supercharger credits, do you still charge at home or just supercharge?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I still have my 2017 and love it. Congrats on baby #2.
1:25 noted your Marion, IL charging, LOL I was there back on April 8th (with about 50 other Tesla's trying to charge at the same eight chargers (only time I had to wait for a charger)) for the Eclipse. Small world.
I love my new model 3 refresh performance 🤷🏽♂️ let me know when you find another car manufacturer that competes with Tesla technology
After the price drop on the Model Y’s. It makes no sense to me to trade the MYLR for anything else. I’ll keep it until I retire. Will see what up then. I love the car. It’s the best daily I had ever own.
A friend of mine said you have a New Yugo in your garage now! Great! Is it Diesel powered, or Hydrogen powered?
Right now you can lease a Model Y for $3,000 down, and a total of $9300 for 3 years (10,000 miles per year). That seems like a good deal to me.
@@robertbrandywineLeasing is a far better idea than purchase but i drive nearly 20,000 miles a year. What is the milage penalty on the lease for exceeding 10k?
40% of all car loans from 2022 to now are delinquent. Does this surprise anyone?
What happens when your roadster stops working?
I completely agree! I just wish I had referral credits like you!
My battery lasted 25k miles on my 2021 model Y. I doubt they are going to last 400k miles.
@@TheWagLifewhat did you do to that thing 😂
You need to do a video about the "snipping". Hopefully, after "being in for service", you are "ready to go" once again.
The rumor is that you can buy a new Model Y for $30,000. If so, it's hard to believe that your 2 year old Model Y would still have a $25,000 residual value.
Rumor? You could look this up on the Tesla site and know for sure.
@@DonaldBStinnett Well, I tried, but even with a Tesla owner helping me we couldn't get that $30,000 figure.
So the reason you arnt going to buy a new Tesla is you already have two that are paid off....I agree with the depreciation, doubt I'd buy another new one again.
Good advice if you are young and thrifty. But as you get older and your TSLA stock is crazy, you just buy a new car whenever you want.
Electric cars from China have slightly inferior features, but are much cheaper than Tesla, so are they an interesting option? 😅
Excellent video- and your take on "why replace" was Elon's vision all along. Longevity just adds up to better for the environment. Most young people will only purchase 2 EV in their lifetime...due to their extreme longevity. Think about how much money that will save them over their lifetime.
Extreme longevity? The weakest link is the battery. Tesla is not on the top list of most reliable vehicles. Toyotas and Mazdas can out last a Tesla
Unless your like me and want a Cybertruck. Currently own a Model Y but dang the CT is nice.
Congrats on your soon to be new addition to your family! I've got a PHEV, but would like a Tesla.
Good choice Andy I changed my mind as well l will go for a German brand .
My daily commute round trip is less than 10 miles, so I've put on the extra miles by going on weekday and weekend road trips.
how much the battery is? man I will never be able to afford a tesla
I'm gonna drive my 2021 model 3 SR+ till the wheels fall off.
Thank you Andy. I want to continue to see the longevity of the cars, there are enough people that are covering the new cars. I plan to drive mine into the ground as well.
Not a single Tesla with high milage is for sell on autotrader. Search nationwide for high milage cars on autotrader and you won't see a single Tesla.
You’re never getting a free roadster they’re never making one.
Ya makes no sense-here’s all the cool features-so thats yr reason not to buy ?
those are his reasons to keep the ones he has, therefore no need to buy a new one.
So when did cars actually appreciate? Never!
Nonsense, Tesla is offering 0% -4% loans depending on credit. A lot of your reasons are very weak. The new model 3 is an amazing drive compared to old 3 and so on.
I was thinking you were actually putting on a clickbait title on here, but after watching I think it was clever.
The “Tesla wallet” , you are just talking about the Tesla app right? Is there a separate app?
CONGRATULATIONS on adding to your family!

I traded my model Y for Rivian nd Nissan Ariya
congratulation on the babies, on the next video walk us on the operation
With regards to repairs, you clearly have had it good with tesla spare keys for my Volvo xc40 are 600 bucks AU YOU will

Software updates does not equate to a new car LOL. That's like saying phone updates feel like a new phone. Just no man.
Congrats on the 3rd addition
but 4 is ideal
Less is more. The pen ad is just e-waste. Stop wasting your money on useless crap.
You might be missing out on a $45k M3P with the tax credits - it’s absolutely awesome !
All I want is a #NIO when it comes to EVs.
Many new EV models on the horizon if you don't want a TESLA! More competition out there.
Great video… congrats an getting “snipped” 😉
Americans suffer from two syndrome:
FOMO: Fear Of Missing Out
GAS: Gear Acquisition Syndrome
Both of these are huge factors that drive the “need” many have to buy the latest of whatever.
Intrusive thought here…. What about doing a giveaway to help someone start their Tesla ownership “journey”? 😅 someone like me haha
Don't sell it instead buy more: Tesla will soon make money for you when autonomy becomes reality.
The new Tesla designs sucks so bad they literally stripped everything that made the model 3 look so unique. I don’t know who in the right mind would like the new refresh design..😂
Make more of your videos! Yours are the best!
LOL. I thought this was going to be negative. I’m about to get a MY.
Here's the real list of reasons not to buy a Tesla:
1. Everything creaks and rattles when driving. Quality is subpar
2. The car is glued together. It doesn't fell stable like other cars
3. It's not refined like other similarly priced cars
4. Maintenance/repair costs are realized on the backend when battery needs replacing
5. Interior material is cheap akin to a Kia Rio
6. Range vs number of charging station make no since
7. The battery can't take low outside temps or high outside temps
8. Needs constant charging for any real world use
9. Too many bugs in software that require frequent updates
10. MSRP for Model S should be $30,000 not $80,000
I sold my Tesla and bought a Toyota 4Runner and bought my wife a Lexus GX.
Not so big issue if we get some blood and hair in that and the groundclearance is better
The dacia can have problems to start when its below -30c, i think its because the diesel doesnt flow but the batterycar is much easier to start in cold weather. And if you preheat with the app its even better

Most people don't give a single care about this. Can it merge with traffic, check and move on. No trolling but let's keep in perspective we don't all want an appliance we feel will be replaced every two-four years. Give me a car which brings joy and I know I'll want to own 15 years from now (and will still have some resale value).
