In this comic book/graphic novel adaptation set one hundred years before the events in George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Hedge Knight chronicles a young squire as he travels the cruel and complex path to knighthood in the Seven Kingdoms.
Shouldering his fallen master’s sword and shield, Duncan (or “Dunk”) is determined to reinvent himself as a knight in a nearby tournament. But first Dunk needs a sponsor, and that requirement sends him down a road studded with friends, foes, adventure, and hidden agendas. One such friend is Egg, who becomes Dunk’s squire, yet even he may hold secret motivations of his own.
In this gripping prequel, Dunk and Egg seek glory in a world both familiar and new to Game of Thrones fans. What the two fortune seekers encounter, however, is a world of distrust and political machinations. Chivalry is not lost while Dunk holds fast to his dreams of honor. But such outdated virtues make him a target―and they may even lead to his ruin. This vivid and elaborately wrought tale brings new dimension to George R. R. Martin’s beloved world.

This is the original recording and narrator from over 8 years ago, and still the best. Thanks for keeping this one alive!

Harry Lloyd's is better
@@kevinfitz8516and also will get copyright strikes immediately lol
@@kevinfitz8516 What? Harry Lloyds is dogshit, the guy has zero vocal range.
Who is the narrator for this version? I like him immensely more than the other fan made narrations.
Would love to find the next two narrated by this guy!
This is honestly one of georges best, if not the best. Its very grounded and the main characters are just so interesting. I cant wait for the tv show eventually
I love this story so much. All of the Dunk and Egg stories. They are very special stories. George R R Martin is just so damn good at storytelling. Hardly anyone compares.
First time hearing it and I’m hooked. The narrator nails it too. Dunc is very likable. Great men came to his side to fight. Loved it.
I agree.
So I read this about 16 years ago, at my in-laws. It was in a collection of fantasy stories by many authors. It was really memorable, but I didn't notice who the author was. I was describing it years later to my sister in law saying that it had a very sad, unexpected ending. She said, "Oh, you like unexpected endings? Read Song of Fire and Ice!" So I bought a copy and read it. A couple of years later I went upstairs at my in-laws and found the book I had read, and this story. Yep. They both were by Martin. My husband calls me The Queen of Coincidence. My SIL had never read this story, I didn't remember any place or character names. Just that there was a kid who became a knight, a jousting event and the ending.
Man, the first sentence and when Dunk realises he's talking to Baelor still give me the chills, 4 years after I found them. This narrator is the GOAT.
He is good for sure.
The guy who reads this story also reads a fist full of Stephen King's books he was one of the best narrators
That’s why his is so familiar to me🖤 Thanks for that info😎
Guess you could say he got paid a fistful of dollars for it?
@@anthonyt219nice one lol
dan carlin look him up harscore history is great
Frank Mueller is sorely missed. What a talent.
No matter how much HBO disappoints, we will always have this. Thanks for the upload, you're doing the Lord's work (pun intended).
Have fun NOT enjoying things dude 🥱 besides the fumble at the end of GOT (and regardless of that it was still fantastic, just storywise they made some very odd choices with certain situations and characters) everything else has been incredibly top notch, so as I said, have fun riding the toxic negativity train✌🏿
@@jasonmendoza2044 I found that comment toxic, and you unintelligible.
@@jasonmendoza2044 For every train of negativity, there is a cult of positivity. And for every pair of cheeks, there is an opinion. His(and mine) happens to be that HBO disappointed big-time. Yours happens to be that of plausible deniability(yes, but actually no), and that's okay. We forgive you.
@@jasonmendoza2044 Lacking the ability to discern quality is not a virtue.

I’m so happy to find this version of the hedge knight. I used to listen to it so many years ago, and then couldn’t find the recording. The narrator made me fall in love with the hedge knight because he makes the story even more interesting.
I love Dunk and Egg. Cant wait for tv show next year. Thanks for uploading.
Finally, someone who can read. It's been painful trying to find a good one, many thanks for sharing this :)
DavidReadsASOIAF is really good.
This was so good! Kept seeing Frank Mueller's name and I do have to agree that his narration was superb.
I especially love how classism colored the tale. Dunk is from Flea Bottom and have known a simpler and tougher life but he's truer than most knights even without the expensive gear and extensive training.
Baelor was also a good knight and indeed would've made an exceptional king, but alas it wasn't meant to be.
Wish all 3 books had this narrator
@@Ryan-nm2si do you happen to know who this narrator is??
@@46402Sounds like Frank Muller to me. He did most of The Dark Tower audio books before he got into a motorcycle accident and lost the use of his voice, unfortunately.
@@46402Frank Muller
@@46402 Frank Muller. He's quite good, sadly he died in 08.
I love when Baratheon shows up to the trial of 7. Gives me chills every time but I’m not sure why. I really like the voice of the narrator even though there are some weird pronunciations
_He joins in for the fuckin' banter_
Frank Muller should have read the GoT series. I'm sad just thinking about it. he was amazing reading the Dark Tower series too. RIP Frank
Nobody could've done a better job than Roy Dotrice
Ai could probably bring him back
He sounds like a AI compared to roy dotrice son
"My man", I teared up. This was a great book!😢❤❤❤❤❤
So, is there a connection between the irregular seasons and the presence of dragons?
Around 20:00 grrmartin has Dunk recollecting Ser Arlen recollecting what HIS grandfather recollected - which was: when there had been dragons, the winters were shorter and less bitter. But after all the dragons had died, and their eggs ceased hatching, the summers had become shorter, the winters longer and crueler.
Not saying it is causation, but there could be correlation.
They are beings of immense power so many of them could alter weather patterns. Kind of like if ents were real they could seriously change environments. Fun to think about fantasy like that imo great thought patterns!
@@cheezburgrproduction Nothing would be better than a whole bunch of Ents.
Though, these days, in the US at least, a huge number of people would scream they were "illegals" and terrorists. Moscow Marge would say she was their victim.
I can sure think of a good few uses for dragons.
grrm has said the peculiar seasons are a magical thing & will be resolved by the time the story is finished. the dragons are heavily tied in with magic, so much so that they boost magic power significantly. all this to be said, yeah i think there is a connection tbh. it’s not the reason the seasons are so odd but the dragons definitely effected it
@@ImIndavyjoneslocker When I first started reading the novels, I especially liked that element about the uncertain seasons.
In order to make the world very different from ours and give it a strange, unsettling feel, he didn't need aliens landing, or a distant planet with purple oceans and continents make of cheese, or a plague turning people into large pairs of socks, he just took something rather mundane, and tweaked it.
I know he was inspired by the medieval warm period and the little ice age, but I thought it ever such a clever idea.
His comments seem, perhaps, to imply, that when & if he finishes, we'll finally know the "source" of the magic in that world.
I hope all the magic doesn't vanish though.
damn george is a master writer. holy shet this is god level writing, dunk, egg, raymond, baelor, aerion, tyra too tall. wow oh wow. 10/10 bravo!
this is my 1st audiobook from GRRM and now i know why book readers are so loyal.
Same here, I stumbled across it late last night and figured it would be nice to sleep to,I didn't sleep 🙃😅
Wow, wasn't expecting this to be this good!
Frank muller narrated this!
Thank you for giving such a captivating voice to this tale.
The same narrator does Stephen King's Dark Tower series.
Great tale and very well done, looking forward to more.
Any knight can make a knight
The narrator sounds like Frank Muller. He did a lot of great narrations. Loved him for the Dark Tower
"Up!" They said he said, just as he had with Thunder in the melee, "Up, up!"😢
This is the same narrator who read The dark Tower series. I recognize his voice
Same though I think there's two readers of the dark tower but they're both equally great in my opinion
This was amazing
Execution of the book is masterpiece, great narrative
This is best narrator I've been listening to this version for years. Harry Lloyd just doesn't have the vocal range of this guy and Roy dotrice.
Amen
There’s no comparison at all, this guy isn’t bad but for this particular set of stories he is borderline terrible compared to Harry. And it’s not even debatable. The only thing I constantly see people say is that he speaks too low sometimes. His voices for the characters are spot on
It’s funny seeing the black wood stuff in house of dragon now and hearing their stuff here too
They just always beefing
That's why I love u tube, been after this for time, nice one 😜
“My man” hell yeah brother
Ser arlan is my favourite character in all of asoiaf rip
Never thought I’d hear John Keel in Dunk and Egg lol
Forgot how great this story was!
Thank you
Incredible. I want to read this to my kiddo now
Thankfully it’s not AI! Can’t stand thinking that I’ve found a good audiobook to listen to only to be treated with an AI!
I think it is?
@@mr.crowgamer6250it’s not, it is in fact the late great Frank Muller.
@@cheezburgrproduction damn I though it was but either way great voice
@cheezburgrproduction yes but it's his voice recreated by AI. Listen to how the words sound robotic
This is my hands down favorite narrator of all the options for this.
Look for Kevin Pierce
I dig this. Great job. I'm subscribed. 1:36:56 is my placemaker 😅
Risky strategy using those tourney lances.
Where is Ashford? Is it in the River Lands? What about Penny Tree? Does anyone know? Great Reading! This story has so much heart! Thank you!
Ashford is in the Reach. Ashford castle is the seat of house Ashford
Ashford is located in the Reach, whereas Pennytree is located in the Riverlands.
A truly good story!!
Thank You for this.
Do you have the sworn sword??
Y shit dunk n egg is a go with George ❤😀😀😀😀😀 please yes George 💕
Sounds like young dan carlin voice over
Need Roy Dotrice to do it

why does the audio keep skipping? Can we get the correct audio somewhere please
I noticed that to!
Bro its a free audiobook
@@jacquesforet3156😂 I was thinking that too don't get me wrong I have many audiobooks I've bought and the skipping is really annoying but I'm low on funds so couldn't afford another one and when I found this as well as who's reading it I was like happy days
Because he put multiple chapters together. It's free.
1:44:55 GRRM was quite clever there
He also does the interview with a vampire series
OG narrator!
How many pages does the book contain?
can you reupload this without the "chirping" in the background ?!
wtf
This is ai? Why is so choppy ?
Why is he writing these books and not finishing ASOIAF? Just 1 book before I die! I know there are 2 left last I heard but ffs just 1
the hedge knight came out in 1998
Where’s the rest?

What is the picture from?
There is a comic book version of the hedge knight
What a perfect narrator

2:19:52
He's weak, telling it like a bedtime story with same voice just goofy. Roy dotrice fo lyfe that man could audio up a fuckin book.
jh
2:03:00
There's such a stark difference between professional narrators such as this one and youtube wannabes. Most of them can't even pronounce words or names correctly and don't even bother to edit out mistakes.
you say that even as the man says Si-gill instead of sigil.
Pronunciation is usually a pretty petty complaint to criticize (unless it's extreme) and case is point is you not liking this guys pronunciation of sigil. I say it the way you say it with a "j" but pronouncing the G hard the way this narrator does is a completely valid pronunciation
