Love that smell in all honesty. I know that they're making my favorite type of honey when I smell that. Hard to believe we're about done with another season. .
You want to take the Soopers above the queen exclusives for honey extraction. Leave the honey below. Otherwise if you don't take any honey all your effort is for not.
I thought the same. That colony has a newer Queen, like 4 week old, so I'm thinking they got confused. But, who knows. I moved them to another colony that could use them. Nice cells like that, may as well try and get another Queen made.
I love that queen in the second box she was so big i could see her from down here in southern New Zealand 😂 great brood comb though, wow that's awesome. Seems like all the beekeepers i watch from the states are having the same thing happen, nice brood and great autumn flow to build into winter. Brilliant 👍 im kinda weirded out about the queen cells though maybe it's a pheromone issue because that brood looked fantastic 🤷😃
I was weirded out also seeing those cells. I think, at least my guess, is that since she is a newer Queen that her pheromones aren't quite strong enough yet. Her pattern and behavior is great, so we'll see. Those cells were moved, so hopefully i'll get another one like her. Appreciate you watching. And from New Zealand at that. .
I was supposed to receive queens this week In a couple of days but spring, which up to this point has been 62 degrees F and clear skys decided to go to the pub and gave winter the keys to get back in 🥶 the blossoms popping out but it's to damn cold for the bee's to fly 😬 3 inches of snow on the ground, we got more snow this week than we had all winter. Disaster for the pollenation circuit guys around here and the willows have just started producing pollen which is a disaster for me 🤦 been waiting for it all winter 😂 is what it is can't have a great start every year. Pollen sub on and extra feed so everything is alright, I don't think I'll get too much of a drop in brood production 🤔
Could be. We're a hair early yet. I think we have 3 or 4 weeks yet before temps will cool off. This fall is starting out in the 80's, so plenty of time yet.
@@CastleHives I think winter bees start mid August every were with in reason from mid August until she stops there is a percent of bees that are winter ass it gets later the amount gets greater
I wonder on that old queen (red) hive if they aren't wanting to supercede?? Are you doing any feeding yet or are you waiting on a fall flow? Have a good weekend. Do you have another market this weekend?
Little bit of both, fed til the flow started. I'll keep an eye and as soon as it slows up some, they'll get feed back on. This weekend is relax, no market. Going to my sons and they're cooking out. Hope you have a good weekend as well Russell.
Awesome update on your hives, Brian 👍🏻
Thanks much. . Congrats again on your channel growth. So awesome. .
Nice honey bee day Brian, good stuff buddy...👍
Yep time to shift the brain and the beekeeping to Winter mode.😁Blessed Days Brian.
Thanks, DC. My next trip over will be removing excluders and shifting further towards winter. Hope you have a great weekend. .
Those brood patterns look great!
Agreed. I was beyond happy seeing those patterns.
It is that time of year. I can smell the socks around here now need to get my suppers pulled and do the same. Thanks for sharing friend 🐝 🧡

Very nice Brian! Looking good!
Thanks, Bruce. It's been work this year, but I think it all turned around for the better.
Tons of late season brood!
I know right. . Love seeing that brood.

I'm leaving a deep and medium, rather have a little extra on the colonies so I do not burn the profits buying sugar for feed.
Hives are lookin good, Brian. I can't believe it's time to prepare for winter already.
Crazy huh. I'm going to check a few things this week and combine if needed. Also, the excluders are coming off.
@@CastleHives My plan too. I haven't been in mine in almost 2 months :) Wish me luck hahaha
Great video
Thank you. . Appreciate that
Love seeing slabs like that
What would they be building cells for?! Weird .

Why do you keep an excluder on your hives if you’re not taking them honey super ?
Lazy. . My next trip over those are coming off, shims going on.

@@CastleHivesI love your epic technical and fine tuned explanation here...just... lazy 😂 😃👍
Where did your smoker come from?
Apisolis.
Singular is larva, plural is larvae. The latter is pronounced larvee, not larvay.
