Philippines is a very poor and underdeveloped country. According to the world bank, 37% of the population still live in slums as of 2020. With a gdp per capita (PPP) of 11420 in 2023, which is only half of the world average of 22226, making it one of the poorest countries in the world. The national dish of the Philippines is called "pagpag." It's made by refrying chicken bones that have been collected from the trash. Since many people in the Philippines are poor and lack education, a lot of them have to find discarded bones in restaurants, refry them, and eat them.

@@backpackinggals You can get a TEFL certificate and teach English during the week and travel on the weekends. They probably pay more than doing gardening work in Australia and the cost of living is much cheaper.
