  • Scott Palmer got back to his roots and brought his NHRA Top Fuel Dragster out to play at the Ozark Raceway Park "2019 Street Machine Shootout ". While he was at it, he reset his track ET and MPH
    record twice. Pretty cool to see him dropping by the home track, even cooler that he is running NHRA short times at our little track in the woods.

      I agree 100%...went to Bristol earlier this year. It's the loudest thing I've ever heard in my life. The power those motors put out is unbelievable. Can't wait to go back.

      Been going to NHRA events since I was 8 (now 36). I remember the first burnout I seen, I was sitting on the backrest when Eddie Hill hit that throttle in the morning in Pomona. I fell off thinking holy smokes. I love the smell and destruction of my nasal cavity of beung in the pits when everyone is running away and I stand there next to the guy wearing a promask. I still want to go see the 4 wide

      100% true. My dad and I always watched it on TV, then went to our first NHRA race 2 years ago. In the stands when 2 fuel cars did their burnouts and I was like, wow this is loud but not too extreme. Then when the 2 cars launched both of us jumped and nearly crapped our pants no joke. From that moment I was hooked.

    That’s a solid run on a non NHRA prepped surface. He’s about 15 MPH short of top NHRA 1/8th mile trap speed but that is to be expected given the surface and not wanting push/hurt the motor. A very solid performance.

      They probrably had a setup to just get down the track, plus it looked like the runoff wasnt that long either

    • @TwoAMBlacktop
      @TwoAMBlacktop 5 років тому +4

      It’s not a long shutdown there. They do run 1/4 mile on test and tune, but the sub 10 second cars don’t normally run it out past the 1/8 so they can get shutdown.

    • @danmyers9372
      @danmyers9372 4 роки тому

      TwoAMBlacktop - going 265 with s short shut down is even more impressive. Bet that had the drivers full attention.

      Top fuel 1/8 mile record mph is 299mph, quite a bit off actually. And that's running 1000 feet sure you could get more out of it if you set it up specifically for 1/8 mile.

      Absolutely. Back in 2010 at the 1/8th mile eddyville dragway Tommy Johnson Jr and Bruce Litton match raced in Litton's top fuel cars. Ran in the 3.40's at 220ish, not sure what the big end at orp looks like but eddyville is known for a little corn harvesting if you're late on the chutes. Most pro nitro drivers refer to "holding the brake the whole way" at eddyville. Just like orp, great track but pretty gnarly shut down area.

    • @akanishta99
      @akanishta99 4 роки тому

      They start up the motor on methanol and switch to nitro after a few seconds. You don't see anything on the burnout because the throttle is limited to 10%. They take the throttle stop off after they backup.

    • @rangemasterken
      @rangemasterken 4 роки тому

      There are no flames on the burnout because there is no load on the engine. Its mostly raw unburnt fuel coming out of the pipes.

      Butcher.cs - No, it’s both ignition (one mag) and fuel changes (one fuel pump) on the burnout as Tracy Ryan correctly pointed out. Plus the throttle stop.
