- In this video, I compare, define, flip, and talk about my balisong grails! The Tsunami, Madko, Cygnus, and Kraken! I, along with everyone else has a grail. A balisong (the tsunami for me) that we find so beautiful that we just have to have it. I am lucky enough to be in possession of 4 of those. The Squid Industries Tsunami, the Squid Industries Madko, the LDY Cygnus, and the Squid Industries speed channeled Krake Raken v3. These are my favorite balisongs and ones that have reached grail status for me. Enjoy this video and stay tuned for part two once I get back from blade show!

8:05 AEB-L is the steel they use and while it's non-premium it is a long-used steel in knife making and arguably the "original" stainless steel. It's often used in razors for its hardness and ability to get razor sharp. Makes a lot of sense to use them in balisong for both the durability from the hardness but also the stainless properties. S35VN is nice and technically a premium steel though once could call it entry premium and is not necessary for balisongs if flipping is your objective but is going to be a little better in chipping/denting resistance as well as tipping. It's also stainless so it is corrosion resistant.
Loved this. My grail is my Solo, and I can’t put it down 🤣. Close second is my Nakiri. Hunting for either an Orca or another Nami the moment! ❤

First I heard abt grails was when others got cases to store their grails in, while I used it to store my... well, still beloved balis. But taking note of your 5 points of what a grail should have, sadly, flipping experience with the bali is something I have to guess since not all of us are lucky enough to try one out before buying.
Other 4 points are something I agree with, sound comes before the appearance of a bali. Sry to say that, if it looks good, but doesn't sound appealing to me, I probably would only use it for pictures. Where on the other hand, if it sounds good, but doesn't look good, I'd still flip it. But rly, haven't seen any ugly balisongs out there, they all have their own special feature that makes them unique, which is what's pretty abt a balisong.
I figured I'd add a 6th point to what makes a grail, but came to my senses that doesn't rly apply. I'd say I would never flip my grail over concrete, but then realized I don't even flip my non grail balisongs over concrete. Guess it's up to the flipper to define their grail.

Another awesome comment! When it comes to the sound of a balisong, i agree it is important. Personally I would still choose looks over sound, but that is just me. I do however think balisongs can be ugly. Pro flipper, svix stuff, omeme. Those things are hideous to me at least. Once again though, preference. Thanks!
from all the material for balisong. can you list from worse to best. cuz i have G10 Nautilus v2. RN im ordering Aluminium 7075 Krake Raken v3 and idk which one is better. is there anything else in between them or any worse
I have a full video comparing those two specifically. I’d check that out. Other than the fact that one is a live blade, and has better tolerances, they are both great.

Dude I really want to invest in the Cygnus and tsunami but uts so expensive
Keep an eye on the second hand market. I got my Cygnus for 351$ which is quite a ways below retail. Tsunamis however get more expensive sometimes second hand so bladeshow is your best bet.

Squid industries knives. Yes knives at the end might have them. That is where to get them though. Or are you talking about just the blade? There is no where to get a blade, only clone blades.
@TheBuffnessFlips yes I was just wanting to get the blade. I was thinking of getting the v3 baliplus one because I know that blade is interchangeable. I just wanted to know if I could stick with the acual brand and not a clone. That's alright though. Thanks man you always reply so fast
