    6:40 foot rise by the ankle, body rise by straightening the knees. We use both.
    It’s only body rise in Feather step for lady(no foot rise) as an example.

    基本觀念,重於基本動作;
    基本動作,重於基本舞步;
    基本舞步,重於高級舞步⋯⋯⋯
    Basic Actions are more important than the basic steps….

    Hi Thank you for an excellent lecture. A question. Where does swing fit into your analysis, and what is its relationship to sway?
    Thank you .

      Hi! Swing is a unique blend of all of these actions together in a specific amount and order. Generally I’d say the more you swing the more speed you create, therefore you will need more sway to decelerate. I hope that answers your question.

      @@SkylineBallroomTV Thank you for your very full reply. I appreciate it. . If I may trespass on your patience a little bit more . Is the following a fair/ correct statement? In general sway comes from swing ? Maybe this is “ technical sway”?
      Additional sway beyond what is strictly necessary to control the swing is ” artistic sway”?
      I am not thinking of line figure here that have sway, like over sway or throwaway oversway .
      Thank you
      Don Crowley.

      I’ll try to do my best to answer and please remember that it’s just my opinion.
      Sway is a part of the shape. Sometimes what we call sway is actually extension. And yes you can play around with it, but the most important thing is to let the movement create the shape. I think sway is “too big” when the amount of it restricts the amount of movement you can create. As long as it enhances the movement and performance it’s all beautiful. It’s a fine line between too much and to “academic”.
      I hope that answers your question. Please remember that everybody prioritises different things. Some people pick shape over movement and some people like it the other way around. And that’s what is called a “style”.
