Ice Riding with Snowmobile Studs on my Raptor 700

- I decided to buy a set of studded tires and scored these epic tires on factory wheels on craigslist. They have about 250-300 1 inch Woodys snowmobile studs in them. I was expecting to get tires with just standard screw-in studs and these are on another level! Big thanks to David for hooking me up with these!!The video features ice wheelies, fly bys, donuts, drone shots, launches, and best of all.. GREAT EXHAUST NOTES :)

I used about 235 Woody's Megabite and Golddigger 1.325" studs on my 400EX with dune tires crazy hook up with loose snow @,Ice but not as fast as that!

Back in the early 90s there used to be organized ice racing for dirt bikes and quads. Of the types of racing I have experienced it was near the top for just plain fun. So if memory serves the longer studs (1" inch) was not the setup. The idea was to increase the number of scratch lines while reducing weight which usually meant screw type studs with just the 1/4 inch head sticking out. Also get the suspension lowered. When you get 3 or 4 guys drifting an oval track it is magical.

The holeshots were sick. Something about letting a huge roost fly thats 1 of my favorite parts of riding.
We run the same studs in dirt bike tires for winter trail riding. You don't need to stay on the ice with these, the studs are carbide tipped and don't wear down on dirt like screws. While playing on a lake is fun, riding frozen icy trails is even better.

I live in Wisconsin and raced ATVs on the ice and also Karts. Way too many Studs. Good Video and Fun times
Definitely to many. I have 1300 kold kutters on my Kfx 700. Been out in lake winnebago every weekend.. From a dig or under 30 it will hang the front tires in the air.

Thanks for all the compliments!! I actually never rode the machine without the power mods so I can't give a comparison to stock power unfortunately. The main reason I picked HMF is because I had their exhaust on my KTM and I knew it would sound the way I want it! It would be fun to try a different exhaust eventually, theres a ton of quality exhaust systems on the market and for some reason people tend to give HMF a hard time. I'm not super particular about horsepower numbers or anything, I'm more then happy with how this quad performs. Straight line power isn't nearly as important as handling is to me. If I was in the dunes I could definitely see needing the extra horsepower to push through the sand though
@@PeteHager Yeah there's many different exhaust systems to choose between! Well the HMF sounds really mean, i can imagine the loudness irl! I had a Micron slip-on on my YFM350 Raptor, the sound was surprisingly massive. I agree, my next purchase will definitely be a 700!

I did a set of rears w 100 snowmobile studs in them man they hooked up good i had the kutter ice screws up front and even messed w skis up front
