Very happy to see Sharp AQUOS back as a serious competitor. I found that in general the Sharp looks mor natural in most presets and was also generally the clearest picture. I suspect as it is compared with other high end mini led’s which lots of dimming zones and high peak brightness (nits) that there will be little difference between them in the quality of picture. The thing that at present I am most interested in is the sound. If the picture is on par with all the other high end flagships, how does AQUOS compare with their heavy build due to all the speakers and their positioning. After that - Its price. I can tall you that all of my Sharp AQUOS models in the past since 2002 and 2007 are all still in use and are all still producing great images so AQUOS is calling me even though my U6G Hisense is doing a fine job for my day to day needs.
@@ubacow7109 Sure.... Panasonic still makes TVs. And they sell them in Europe and Asia. But so far as I know they exited the North American market years ago didn't they?
Thanks Brian for this amazing video. I will definitely be buying the sharp for my next tv in 65 inches. I just love the natural colors, brightness, black levels, details I feel like I can keep going on. PLUS the 85 watts speaker system it comes with is a nice bonus too.. Can’t wait to see you upload more vids of sharp against other brands. This years shoot out gonna be fun let’s go!! Be cool if sharp can win it this year. Maybe we can more companies like Panasonic to come back too the states if sharp wins or sales well.. I currently own lg c2 and the Hisense u8h two great tv from last year. Been waiting for more sharp XLED tv videos reviews to show up before I make the purchase so this definitely help me out…
To all the commenters saying that the Sharp "Looks more Natural," it that because the colors have way less pop, vibrancy and saturation? Samsung is #1 because they give the masses what they want, and that's an image that stands out in color and brightness. Since neither tv has been calibrated, how do we know or assume that Sharp is closer to the Director's intent??? Not a Samsung defender, but they seem to take more criticism than just about any other manufacturer. Anyways, good to see Sharp back. I wish Panasonic would also return to the US market. We had a Pasasonic Plasma for 13 years with 0 issues. Awesome comparison as always, Brian.
The sharp looks much better. The colors are closer to correct, that's pretty obvious and the Samsung is off enough that it is significant. The samsung also crushes the image. Check out 11:49. You can't even see the plants on the ground. It also doesn't have as much detail nor is the motion as good. The samsung seems to have a significant issue with reds and greens. You don't get true to life tones out of them. The red and green is pushed hard, but it's the wrong shades, even in cinema. The harder green push being the wrong shade of green messes up a lot of the sky scenes in particular. On HDR OLED demo content the extra contrast of the Samsung is nice, but I don't think it's worth the general crush and the cartoonish colors. A lot of the things people usually attribute to Sony I think applies to sharp, even moreso based on this comparison. If the sharp had better local dimming it would be a truly top tier LCD. It seems to do everything else very well.
The local dimming in this wasn't even shown. Also the TV had tons of glare from light hitting it making the blacks look washed out. In a light controlled room I bet the Sharp would look more black and consistent than the QN95C. Also it likely won't dim as much in darker HDR scenes with smaller highlights. I can definitely tell the Sharp has worse anti-glare handling though. More mirror like and also it tends to make the blacks lifted when light hitting it and seen from an angle. The colors are better on the Sharp as you said, because you can actually see the gradients and nuance. Samsung tend to just make all the green the same or same shade of green. It cannot put in the light brown and yellow into the dying grass, leaves. Nor the realistic green in the fur trees with the mountain shot from inside car with socks. It's all "vivid" and neon. The Sharp could hence look almost washed out because of the color push of the Samsung, But that is likely it being brighter at times and the reflections. Also the fact it seems to push for more natural accuracy. Like Sony. This needs to be done with a better side by side in a darker controlled room and more apples to apples settings. But I understand Brian how the settings are just wildly different. Standard vs Standard isn't even close. In fact Standard on Sharp looked more like FMM on Samsung. Kind of backwards.
I think I prefer the Sharps colors overall. I feel like I see more shades of yellow and orange on the Sharp. The Samsung’s picture was way too green and didn’t show enough orange and yellow. I wish I could tell a difference regarding blooming…but I couldn’t. I really hope the Sharp handles gaming well. I would pick it over the Samsung based upon your video. Thanks Brian!
Brian, i love these comparison videos! It would be great to have some commentary on creator's intent, low bitrate content, and actual sports scenes. It would be really cool to also get some candid thoughts on your personal preference and use-cases!
2:59 the Sharp has far better color gradients here. You can really see the different colors and tones in the landscape. The Samsung has way too bright green and it's also all just a variant of green. Where is the brown or different color tones. Maybe the camera has issues in these types of side by sides. Just like colors can look washed out on a brighter TV when it's not actually washed out. There are also a lot of "new" settings to learn with the Sharp to get it to look it's best for each modes etc.
Thanks Brian for the review and I am also happy that Sharp has made it's return. From a perspective that prefers realism and accuracy I am looking forward to the shootout where the TVs are calibrated and compared to a reference monitor. So, my first question is what TV looks more like the creator's intent material ? TBS I do see where people will differ on signature preferences. As far as zone counts Sony proves it's not always just about # of zones (85" Z9K Owner).
It's kind of crazy how different they are. I suspect it's the camera a bit and perhaps some settings. But it's almost like what happens when you put an OLED vs MiniLED side by side and the white balance gets out of whack. The tonality of each of these TVs are so different. 4:38 the white balance is pinkish all of sudden on the Sharp. I feel these TVs need to be filmed separately and then stitch together the images as side by side. This doesn't help either TV to show off it's best. All that said, it would really come down to preferences in what people would prefer how the content look like. I'd say the Sharp is more leaning into what Sony does. Shadow detail and perhaps more accuracy?
It's a common thing, digital cameras are too sensitive to white balance changes, they can't find a common "middle ground" like human eyes do, instead they adapt for one or the other. Stitching is a good idea but it may be an exact reel of the demo content and picture modes. An easier although much more expensive way, is to have two cameras recording at once, one for each TV or have them record both simultaneously and stitch them in post.
Give us your opinion on which one looks better on the scenes man. You’re the one that’s in front of the tv. Don’t be scared to Tell us which one looks better overall.

I also think Samsung wanted to separate the models so people could feel like they're getting a true flagship model. I was thinking the exact same thing. Samsung does the same with their phones. The cameras on their phones do the same with pictures. Always over saturated.
You mean the Sharp sometimes lacks saturation, so you deem pastel colours more natural. What about the parts where the Sharp looks more saturated. The patchy behaviour of the Sharp colour is a flaw compared to a reference TV such as the Samsung GN95C. Watch a video comparing three high end TV's, the Samsung GN95C, The LG G3 and the Sony A95L. Oh my dear friend Brian, How could you? Allowing Sharp to get its ass kicked in front of the world. This wasn’t even close. It was a root canal without Novocain. The Sharp looked like something I bought from Kmart years ago. As always I appreciate your videos. Thanks Brian….
Ha ha. I guess someone doesn't understand color gradients and brightness and how things also look being filmed on a single camera when white balance cannot be matched. Let me guess someone owns a Samsung. The QN95C looked like nothing but green tint and oversaturated colors without any form of color gradients. Also this was filmed with tons of reflections hitting the Sharp. Can see it hitting the screen a lot. Try it in a dark room and find the proper settings for the Sharp. Brian said he doesn't know the settings yet and there are a lot of different ones.
Would be nice to see it again against something. But in a darker room without all the reflections in the TVs. It's fun to see these comparisons even though they cannot be taken as gospel because of white balances and brightness differences making them different than real life to the naked eye. Some blooming tests in a dark room could be cool and gaming trying out settings.
I prefer the Sharp / the Samsung tends to over saturate the colors, whereas the crispness and clarity go to the Sharp. I owned a Sharp Aquos Quattron / I now own an LG 75QNED85. Very excited to see Sharp back / I believe this Sharp has an 11 speaker 85 watt sound system built in w/ subwoofer.
The Sharp is not to saturated and has a cleaner picture quality in my opinion. But i would need to see them side by side live before casting my vote. Even then It's what you personally prefer more than anything else and what kind of content you'll be watching on them. Thanks for the side by side comparison anyhow!
Yes, I also wonder why they stopped using yellow sp our old 40" is still today fully functional Sharp Aquos from 2010 full array RGB+Y ( yellow ) sub pixel color composition. Still going strong and it has become our ( basically, the wife's ) bedroom TV. I hope us Europeans also get the chance to check out the XLED Models! Greetings from Sweden!
75%of the time I preferred the Samsung, as it had the colours and contrast. Whereas , often the Sharp blacks were not deep or highly contrasted and sometimes the HDR looked flat as a result. The rest of the time though I liked the sharp, the way it presents white is much more natural and I appreciate the consistency in brightness.
Hi Brian, I talked to someone at ABT to today. They had sent all their Sharp Xled tv's back in September. They are supposed to get some new ones in by the end of next week. The tv's are supposed to have the new firmware update. Have you heard anything from Robert? It would be great if they fixed the firmware for good.
Thanks Brian. Great to see the QN95C get some love. I really perfered the Samsung on this, more richer and sharper. I just wish I could make up my mind between G3 and QN95C. Brian, is the G3 THAT much better than the QN95C or are there times when you would pick the mini led? Thanks buddy
How does this compare to Sony's x93l? Currently have a sharp 70inch quattron on its way out. As a visual i prefer the clarity and natural color over the heavy saturation.
Now that's you've had it a while and tried everything out . I would love to know your impressions are regarding picture and sound quality ( speaker setup)? Looks so clean and natural in this video comparison. What's your verdict on the xled? Thanks you // Jonas
Hey Brian - Really liked this video. Surprised how close they were and for me I really liked the sharp in standard. Did you get to check the upscaling on the sharp? Not much info out there. I saw the 75" is at ABT for under 2000. Did they use this panel or the 75" at the shootout? Would this be a good tv for dish satellite content? Thanks Brian.
The Sharp is very good but fell apart at the shootout. The firmware was different than the one you see in this video. I'd wait until the next model. I'll definitely be covering it.
While I like my LG OLED a little bit more than I thought I would over time, had sharp mini LEDs been available when I got my LG G2, I would have gone with Sharp instead. They really are a brand name.
Will you be doing a QN900C and QN95C side by side? I’m looking to upgrade from my Q90T and cannot make up my mind! I’m also in the 85 inch weight class otherwise I would have gone for the 77 S95C. Thanks!
Hard to judge through with the pinkish tint that isn't there in person. Sharp looks more natural though, which i prefer. 65in is my preferred size.. though if I was sitting farther away I'd have to go larger!. Which of these 2 are better with blooming in your opinion?. Sharp looks like a budget sony lol what is the price difference between these 2 tvs? & yes led should be in there own category at shootout!. Whichever led scores best at shootout will be the king of led regardless 😂
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYyeah,I was also wondering if the camera may have been focusing on one tv than the other or the movie presets turn off extra processing. Hey there, i hope all of you friends have a pretty feeling or mood, in 1981 when i was born in mountainous village in whose name is Abarsej, my grandfather's father had bought a 14" colorful SHARP from Mecca when he had gone to perform a religious ceremony called Hajj which is performed every year in Mecca, in those days this awesome TVs were a monster and masterpiece in market, and its picture quality was super awesome and amazing and we used to spend hours for watching cartoon,I forgot to say that my village is located in the north of Shahrood city, Semnan province, Iran
I like sharp, its crispness is really good and I bought a 37 inch back in 2007 and the image is still great, and i hope to buy this model again when my sharp tv no longer works. I think SHARP will win.
Cool intro 🤘. All i can say is i absolutely love my q95b , i just wish id got the 85" , but my mrs went ape 💩 when i suggested it 😂 too big for my bedroom Apparently 😡
Hi Brian how are you doing this morning? Question in terms of Overall Picture Quality, Would you say that my 75" QN90C TV is close to the C2 Or the C3 oled TV as you can get? And like how close would you say the my Picture Quality thar the Samsung QN90C is to The C2 this year?
Well first off SONY A95L WILL KILL THE SHOUT-OUT & secondly I agree with you Brian (they should do LED VS LED, QD-OLED VS QD-OLED & OLED VS OLED) just my thoughts as well! I will say both TVs are overpriced Sharp just doesn't have the name like that behind them for Top of the line anymore. But the Samsung did look beautiful on 80% of the time but also the sharp was at a disadvantage with the position it's all good! Great video Brian
Damn, the Samsung annihilated the Sharp. That pink tint rough. The QN95C seems like it would have been the best 55 and 65 inch LED but they didn’t give it a wide release.
The pink tint is white balance issue of the Camera. He literally said you don't see it in real life. And how did you miss that everything was green on the Samsung. It all was one shade of green. Every mode looked like a version of "vivid" on the Samsung.
Ah , I see what everyone is talking about when they state Samsung over saturates with color….. @ 8:27 follow the yellow down the middle and pause at 8:30….the green on the Samsung overtaking the yellow. This tends to make or give the Sharp a washed out less color look in comparison but nothing could be further from the truth.
@@user_goldenYes, and for a second I thought the Samsung had to catch up thinking they were out of sync in timing. Samsung pushing that eye candy and it sells.
Like the XLED better. Think it's more realistic. QN is the demo seemed to green. like nothing actually looks that good in reality. But Hey, I like to run in warm mode and add a bit of red tint.
Ok ...here's a comment to give you some money. I know it's hard evaluating products. On one hand you have to plug the TV brand who sent you the TV, while on the other hand you know which is the best as a reference. I'm watching this coming off the back of a video comparing the Samsung GN95C, the LG G3 and the Sony A95L They are all flagship models and they all look very similar. This tells me that what I am seeing is basically very close to the reference quality what we should be seeing. Then we come to this video stacking a Samsung GN95C (a reference TV) against a Sharp XLED. The problem here is that every time the Sharp looks similar to the Samsung, it is doing well, and where it differs, it is performing poorly. I know personal taste is an option because we are allowed to have bad taste. But you have to specify where the Sharp is deviating from standard. You can't say the Sharp has better blues or is sharper. Sharp being sharp is a marketing ploy. You have to specify that the artificial blue bump and added sharpening is deviating from the perfect image, and ask the viewers which they prefer. There will always be someone out there who likes over saturation like sugar, but for those with a refined taste, such comments are confusing if not deceiving.
Reason why sharp corp Japan put Hisense under legal , because Hisense purposely produced a low quality tv and branded it as sharp . Sharp japan claimed that , it has tarnished sharp brand products as a whole . So sharp japan bought back sharp tv brand from Hisense .
Xled, uled, mini led, micro led, QLED, My goodness, pretty soon someone gonna be required to take college courses just to be know what’s going out there

Yeah the reflections ruin this comparison.
That Sharp Xled will surprise at the shootout. Definitely gets my vote.
Excellent comment! Thank you for watching
I could see myself with a Sharp😊
Great video as usual. I thought the sweetspot was 98" now lol.
🤣🤣🤣🤣maybe
The Sharp is not to saturated and has a cleaner picture quality in my opinion. But i would need to see them side by side live before casting my vote. Even then It's what you personally prefer more than anything else and what kind of content you'll be watching on them. Thanks for the side by side comparison anyhow!
Wait. The Aquos is back? WITHOUT the extra yellow sub pixel? ...is it really an Aquos without those saturated yellows?
Yes, I also wonder why they stopped using yellow sp our old 40" is still today fully functional Sharp Aquos from 2010 full array RGB+Y ( yellow ) sub pixel color composition. Still going strong and it has become our ( basically, the wife's ) bedroom TV. I hope us Europeans also get the chance to check out the XLED Models! Greetings from Sweden!
When are you bringing a95L comparisons ?
Next week
75%of the time I preferred the Samsung, as it had the colours and contrast. Whereas , often the Sharp blacks were not deep or highly contrasted and sometimes the HDR looked flat as a result. The rest of the time though I liked the sharp, the way it presents white is much more natural and I appreciate the consistency in brightness.
Very impressed by Sharp...
Love the look of The Sharp. The only thing I would do is turn down the brightness of The Sharp slightly.
Is the Samsung even available? Hasn’t been at my local Best Buy for months
I'll let you know my friend! An 85" mini led will be home with me very soon
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thats amazing news! Id really appreciate your thoughts comparing these two buddy.
I have to say that my favorite brand is Great company SHARP
Greetings, have you had a chance to view the FS1 AQUOS OLED?
they both looked good sharp wins picture is clear and natural vs Samsung looks very saturated not as clear.
How does this compare to Sony's x93l? Currently have a sharp 70inch quattron on its way out. As a visual i prefer the clarity and natural color over the heavy saturation.
Some yellow tones disappeared in the QN95C and turned into green at 8:29
The same seems to happen with the soft cyan tones at 7:38, just replaced by an intense green.
Recently bought the 75" aquos xled tv. What are the recommended picture and sound settings for this tv?
Now that's you've had it a while and tried everything out . I would love to know your impressions are regarding picture and sound quality ( speaker setup)? Looks so clean and natural in this video comparison. What's your verdict on the xled? Thanks you // Jonas
I can't wait to watch this later on. I'm somewhat biased because I already own the QN95C 85", and it's a beast!
Reds seem to look better on the Samsung while greens look better on the Sharp. The Sharp seems more detailed and better overall.
Thanks Brian. I prefer the Samsung
Thank you Craig! I always appreciate your feedback and your friendship
Honestly i like the color pop on Samsung, thanks Brian
Hey Brian - Really liked this video. Surprised how close they were and for me I really liked the sharp in standard. Did you get to check the upscaling on the sharp? Not much info out there. I saw the 75" is at ABT for under 2000. Did they use this panel or the 75" at the shootout? Would this be a good tv for dish satellite content? Thanks Brian.
The Sharp is very good but fell apart at the shootout. The firmware was different than the one you see in this video. I'd wait until the next model. I'll definitely be covering it.
Curious how the off axis viewing compares.
They are actually both quite good!
While I like my LG OLED a little bit more than I thought I would over time, had sharp mini LEDs been available when I got my LG G2, I would have gone with Sharp instead.
They really are a brand name.
Sharp has Natural and nearly real images. i dont know why people praise samsung . its was or never even better thn SONY
Will you be doing a QN900C and QN95C side by side? I’m looking to upgrade from my Q90T and cannot make up my mind! I’m also in the 85 inch weight class otherwise I would have gone for the 77 S95C. Thanks!
Sharp! my choice~
Looks like the Samsung has an absurd green filter applied. So weird.
Just as the qn95c was able to beat the x95l, it also happened in this video.
Does the sharp have an ATSC 3.0 tuner .
I believe it does
Hard to judge through with the pinkish tint that isn't there in person.
Thank you Brian for this great comparison. Which one would you choose the Sharp or the Sony x95l? Thank you
Peter
Wow the level of detail is crazy good vs the Sammy - this is deffo on level with the Sony x95L - screw the size difference, compare those two lol
You got it! Thank you for watching
Does bestbuy sell Sharp?
The Sharp's image looks a bit softer - does it not have supersampling?
It has some form of it. The presets are still new to us. Waiting for clarification of the engineers of Sharp. It's also closer to the camera
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYyeah,I was also wondering if the camera may have been focusing on one tv than the other or the movie presets turn off extra processing. It felt a bit less apparent in standard mode but the Samsung still edged it which makes sense as they have been chasing Sony for a decade and maybe the closest to the leader in the sharpness (no pun intended) department.
Guys, sled, x90l or a80l?
I want Samsung when it comes to pq, but it’s only 1yr warranty here..and to me they are already not the best when it comes to reliability
Does Sharp still have those Pioneer engineers when they took over the Kuro?
I like sharp, its crispness is really good and I bought a 37 inch back in 2007 and the image is still great, and i hope to buy this model again when my sharp tv no longer works. I think SHARP will win.
Don't think I've ever seen two TVs using the same technology look so different
Cool intro 🤘. All i can say is i absolutely love my q95b , i just wish id got the 85" , but my mrs went ape 💩 when i suggested it 😂 too big for my bedroom Apparently 😡
I could by the XLED 😊
I still havet the XD1 from 2007. It is still going strong.
If you’re THAT worried about it just get the OLeD and call it a day so you can sleep comfy and happier at night
It's nice to have another option, BUT, Sharp needs a little more work. I'm going to assume that it's going to be expensive being it's Japanese
Sharp was purchased by Foxconn of Taiwan.
@@vybo8921now japanese
what happened to quattron
Are there sharp tvs in US?
I think Hinsence has the licence to sell in the USA
Yes the xled and they also have an oled which releases in October. Thank you for watching
Japan Brand I'm Happy Sharp Brand is Back.. High quality and Durability.. smooth 4k color.. ❤❤😊😊
Sharp Aquos has the much better Performance.
I got the 85 qn90a. 85+ is the way.
Congratulations on your purchase my friend
why didn't you have them in same mode for the review?
They were in comparable modes. They are different manufacturers the modes are not close. You have to match them on appearance.
Question my wife used my cloth last week for cleaning she put windex on it 4 days ago i used it today on my tv it was dryerd is my tv ok
Yikes!!!! I would get a screen cleaner and wipe it down with a micro fiber. Should be ok
I don’t know who destroyed whom, but SHARP was better
Ah , I see what everyone is talking about when they state Samsung over saturates with color…..
@ 8:27 follow the yellow down the middle and pause at 8:30….the green on the Samsung overtaking the yellow.
This tends to make or give the Sharp a washed out less color look in comparison but nothing could be further from the truth.
I see that too. In QN-95C, the yellow stream at the bottom is replaced by green and a lot of white dots disapear.
@@user_goldenYes, and for a second I thought the Samsung had to catch up thinking they were out of sync in timing.
Samsung pushing that eye candy and it sells.
Sharp sinceramente se ve espectacular sera un rival dificil de cualquier marca de tv la marca japonesa vuelve y renace con fuerza.
Sharp Real color👍
Sharp need a better contrast and they are back in the game. That black is not deep(dark) enough
At $1,599(65”) now is the Sharp worth it today?
It's a little hard to recommend the Sharp as their US return is up in the air. Meaning if the TV has an issue you may not find support or updates
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thanks
the sharp xled wins this. its more natural and realistic. I'd be stocked if u compare this with the u8k. both of those sets look amazing
Wonderful
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed
Doesn't hisense own sharp for the north American market, now?
Please redo without the glare and use a hdr camera 📷 please!
Like the XLED better. Think it's more realistic. QN is the demo seemed to green. like nothing actually looks that good in reality. But Hey, I like to run in warm mode and add a bit of red tint.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for watching the video and channel
Samsung😍
Sharp Xled
SHARP 🌶
I like sharp always been a fan since a child ❤
@HyannisSahiel excellent comment! Thank you for watching!
Dude the sharp looks like real life
Sharp XLED looks alot better
Nice review Samsung color is yellow sherp is more red purple color
I have a sharp tv now but it's a hisense one
Reason why sharp corp Japan put Hisense under legal , because Hisense purposely produced a low quality tv and branded it as sharp . Sharp japan claimed that , it has tarnished sharp brand products as a whole . So sharp japan bought back sharp tv brand from Hisense .
sharp uses some sort of better technology for shadow detail
Sharp performed worse than expected. Muted colors, highlights not as distinct, among other things
What are you smoking..
Xled, uled, mini led, micro led, QLED,
My goodness, pretty soon someone gonna be required to take college courses just to be know what’s going out there
