I can certainly relate! I'm mixed and I grew up in Germany until I was almost 10 and now call the US my home (I'm in my 30's now). My mom is Germany, born and raised, and my dad is from the US and in the Army. When I was a kid, growing up in the Augsburg area and it definitely a different experience than living in the US. I did get made fun of a lot and people also called me chocolate! I came back with the same thing he said, that they were white chocolate then, but they said that white chocolate was better than milk chocolate, so it was a different experience for me! I was lucky to have a mixed friend my age that lived near me, and my mom has a friend who's son is also mixed, but he's older, so I was happy to grow up with some mixed kids to relate to, otherwise I wouldn't have had much interaction with black people at all. I do have lots of fond memories of growing up there and can't wait to go back one day. :D I love your channel!
This is such a powerful video...hope you will visit Nigeria soon to meet your relatives over there and and make your relationship with your dad more stronger.
I am a multiracial/creole American born in Germany and haven't been back to Germany since I was 5years old. This was a really cool video to watch for me 😊. Thanks!
this was THE most adorable video ever!! ya'll are the cutest cousins! I just discovered your channel and can't wait to watch more...ya'll are beautiful. cheers from texas (-:
I love Franklin's German accent. It's beautiful...and your British accent, London Curls, is awesome. I could listen to the both of you for days on end. Peace and good fortune to you both.
Once he mentioned Nigerians being loud, I was like, "PREACH!" I'm mixed too. Nigerian and English. (and I have a Nigerian-German cousin too. Crazy, right?) I have a request for the next video you guys make together - can you do your best Nigerian impressions? Like can you try to put on the accent or use Nigerian slangs or phrases you've heard? I tried putting on a Nigerian accent while saying something to a (fully-Nigerian) relative and he told me to just give up and stop trying because my "Nigerian" accent was utter rubbish. Und....Ich spreche Deutsch :) Nicht fließend, aber.....ja....ich spreche Deutsch. :)
+SammySingally Crazy we both have a naija-german cousin. As for accents.. I am TERRIBLE at accents. I really cannot make any promises on that one as it would be just so embarassing haha!
He reminds me of Prince with his personality. I grew up mixed race in France, I never had many problems because my neighborhood has a lot of Caribbean people anyway
The "Sarotti-Mohr" was a popular advertising figure, created in the early 20th century. I think this figure had positive connotations, without any serious discriminative background. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohr#Werbung
The "Sarotti-Mohr" was not any more the brand logo of that chocolate (at least not with dark skin tone) at that time, but you went to a chocolate _museum_, and so you saw historic branding material.
When you're American and you want both of their accents! Lol Thanks for sharing, we've been having a lot of discussions with some of the youth I work with about race. Many of them are mixed race and even in a place called "the great melting pot" they struggle with identity! I am going to share this video with them!
hes cute loooove his accent and baby fro lol... you guys seriously look like brother and sister... im not nigerian, i am african american but my family is like that too lol loud and in your face lol... i think its just a black thing lol
JonVieSays My dear, I'm south African - they're not exaggerating it by specifying Nigerians, as they are loud ... I know this for sure, because they're everywhere here too.
I agree in parts with your cousin, especially on that bit on East Germany. But West Germany has a problem with everyday racism and microaggressions, I think
ah thats so cool, knowing how to say "amen" is always handy in nigerian churches since we say it a lot! I hope you continue to discover great things about your family. Peace and love :)
Nigerians barely mix with white, so I understand how you feel ostracised from the Nigerian lingo. And Nigerian churches are deep in culture that you have to be proper bred into the customs to feel comfortable with it.
This was so fun and interesting! I found a lot of identification as well. I'm not mixed like you, as in I'm multi-generational multiracial. However I have one mainly Jamaican side who are loud and chatty and the other side are very British and much much quieter. There are massive differences with each side of my family and as I didn't see my mum's side (more British side) much growing up, it's still sometimes a bit unusual. I have to navigate them more but it's fun also because I can adapt to different types of people and different and different cultures easily because my family are so diverse.
I’m not mixraced but I’m Nigerian and was born and grew up in Germany. I remember being the only black girl in all my classes. I didn’t really have race issues there but it probably would be different if I lived there as an adult? I don’t know... the only “racist” thing I remember is being called “negerkuss” like once by a kid I didn’t know lol
you're right :( it is sad indeed sometimes I feel like the discourse on race in Germany is so far behind the states or the UK (although their discourse is not perfect per se if you know what I mean since black people are still oppressed)
Ommgg ur likeeee meee I'm german Nigerian and British ommggg🇳🇬🇩🇪ommggg plsss noticeee meeee lloolll and I love his accent typical german accent 😂 wie gehttsss
There's less non-white people in Eastern Europe, so yeah it's not the same as in Western Europe where there's a hella lot of minorities. But tbh I'd rather be in Eastern Europe right now with all that's happening France and Belgium.
Yes but having a little mix from hundreds of years ago doesn’t usually show in phenotype. Being a actual biracial or multigenerational recently mixed person shows mixture in face. So she looks mixed. Two black parents don’t look mixed usually

Hi, can you tell me if an American can have a dual citizenship in Nigeria? If not, do you know how long one can stay in the country? Thanks.
Omg the Facebook thing is so true. I have about 20 requests from possible cousins I’ve never met.

Nigerians barely mix with white, so I understand how you feel ostracised from the Nigerian lingo. And Nigerian churches are deep in culture that you have to be proper bred into the customs to feel comfortable with it.
So funny loved it.
You and your cousin look like siblings.
When are you coming to Nigeria
This was so fun and interesting! I found a lot of identification as well. I'm not mixed like you, as in I'm multi-generational multiracial. Living in Germany I didn't seem to encounter any racism or prejudice except for in villages in the middle of nowhere but that is the same as the uk
You two are so gorgeous 😍 Damm
Well Im black and from Berlin but never had a problem. So I think you will be fine :)
Damn i wish i lived near u guys i dont know anyone whos mixed , i cant really relate to anyone.
I am afrogerman (my parents are Eritrean) and I hate the Sarotti logo. A lot of Afrogermans think it's racist.
+illmaticalized illmaticalized I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that way. It just seems distasteful.
+The London Curls I agree 100% :)
yeah I heard of him. I don't know why named his restaurant after this racist word, smh
you're right :( it is sad indeed
sometimes I feel like the discourse on race in Germany is so far behind the states or the UK (although their discourse is not perfect per se if you know what I mean since black people are still oppressed)

Eastern Europe is 👎🏾 while Western Europe 👍🏾 in terms of safety lol
What do you mean? Specifically in terms of racism? Or just general crime levels?
+Samchocolate11 both

MsFlamingFlamer Eastern Europe is full of white people which reacts like chinese.
He looks like Michael Jackson.

Ehrenmann.
Your Nigerian yayyy
+Ch nm haha, I take it I am talking to a fellow Naija!
Speak some german dude
London I thought you was black didn't know you was biracial.
+Lonnie Love haha a lot of people say that. It's probably hard to imagine until you see me next to my mum and see the resemblance!
O it's possible.
You must be blind
Yes but having a little mix from hundreds of years ago doesn’t usually show in phenotype. Being a actual biracial or multigenerational recently mixed person shows mixture in face. So she looks mixed. Two black parents don’t look mixed usually
Many whites have black blood. It’s nothing special
Neither you are real europeans.
Because they’re only half........
I’m not mixraced but I’m Nigerian and was born and grew up in Germany. I remember being the only black girl in all my classes.
