I don’t usually think of Nitzer Ebb as my favourite band, until I listen to them, and then I can’t remember why I listen to any other band at all. Utterly magnificent.
EBM from the birth of Dance as we know it today. For the uninitiated, these Essex boys opened for Depeche Mode all over the world, spreading their Industrial Dance Music across Europe, and further. Influences include DAF, Kraftwerk. Contemporaries were Front 242 and DM. Influenced NIN, Mad Capsule Markets and countless Techno DJ's including Derrick May.
that's right... that total age.....tattooed on my upper arm.........great guys bon and Douglas are......many times I met them in Chicago...... oh to be back to those days......reminds me of Medusas, exit,Berlin, smartbar.
Hi there “Jrenae” I am 58 almost and I was one of the first female DJ’s back in those days, in Spain, (imagine that!!) this German bands BIG wave, producing amazing electronic music were VERY influential and entertaining and adored and respected I got to say. Happy days doing “la ruta del bacalao” o weekend spent in “la movida Madrileña”. Bless your taste and choices 👍🏽👏🏽👍🏽👏🏽
cheers! Saw DM on that tour over here in the UK and NE were sacked from the bill as support in favour of some random "popular" chart type band of the time, cant even remember their name! Spent most of my time while they were on walking up and down in protest behind the scenes at Wembley with my Showtime T shirt and cap on, lol! They were so good over here on 11th March, Douglas is a legend!
Well, it didn't hurt that when I gave him my old Ipod, I didn't delete any songs from it (except a few other ones that had some language in it). But the Nitzer Ebb, Depeche mode, Ramones and others remained and he loves it!
They were unreal live at Dodger Stadium, on the "World Violation Tour." It was a constant assault of the senses. I remember looking at the upper level seats from the field, and the stadium seriously looked like it was shaking. The best was the look on many of the casual fans faces, as many of them were looking at each other like "who the hell are these maniacs?"
I heard a Daft Punk song on the radio and I thought this is a lame attempt at the real shit, Nitzer Ebb! So I had to listen to this song to basically rinse my mind out.
To me daft punk was a one hit wonder, their only good track was scratchin and rolling. It seems like daft punk might have sampled from this track. Idk u tell me. Nitzer Ebb is the shit.
Funny, as sometimes older folks will say to me "I'm not real techno savvy" and I know they mean "tech savvy" but I say "Well, you should start with Nitzer Ebb, and perhaps some Front 242, and just give yourself grace, as it's a lifelong journey to become techno savvy." And folks like my mom is like "OH, NO, you're wrong. Ministry is where I say people should start" and then we talk or dance or do an E or something or another. Fruit juice!
That was a Depeche Mode concert they opened for them. That was the first place I heard them as wel and got their, Well LOL "TAPE" Different and hypnotic
I saw them live in Gothenburg 2010 during as side concert to their Depeche tour. They seemed tired (bored) of performing, playing all the old songs like it was a museum..
Ok.. I welcome you to share a T.G. song that will amuse my senses from their usual sound. I was a huge Throbbing Gristle fan myself back in my teenage years.. But today I refuse to be ridiculed with noise.
@bullmongonee Back in early 1990 when Depeche Mode released their "Violator" album. There was a local music video show here in southern Ca.The host of that show was intervewing DM when they were signing autographs at a music store. When the host got to Andrew Fletcher, the host asked,"what band will be playing with you during the tour?"Andrew answered back..."Nitzer Ebb"(still have that old recorded interview on vhs video).
@@mikecassell8953 Here it is on UA-cam, though. 😏 Also, there's a nifty app called MixerBox, which you might like, that makes playing stuff from UA-cam be more "enjoyable" if you are open to Spotify alternatives. They also didn't play this song at Chicago's Cold Waves X, either.
i saw 'em supporting Erasure at the Birmingham NEC, right at the front. I only bought the tickets off someone who couldn't go to the concert and after seeing 'em I could have walked out the happiest man in the world but I stopped to see Erasure.
I read that Fletch(R.I.P.) from Depeche Mode had listened to it and I thought ,Yeah?!" and bought it. idk if it was Smash Hits or Fletch's heavy Essex accent but they listed it as Nitzer Ebb's "That Total Edge" instead of "That Total Age".....🤷🏻♀️
@stellan0r, could u name some of the cities where they perform in Germany, also some clubs? please! here in america is just a dream to think about it!!!
Best Nitzer Ebb song by far. My 5yo son is addicted to them! (I'm so proud)
Does he still like them at 17? :-)
That's hopefully a good 17 year old now
Parenting done right.
Yea. Hearts and Minds was pretty good too. In 1989, the Belief lp was...
very overlooked track. celebrate it NOW!

Nothing worse than a bitch for a wine and nagging ass kids!
I have this cassette tape. Among 12" vinyl. Soundtrack of my youth.

Tremendo!! Afortunados los que lo escucharon en Spook Factory en el 85/86 con el maestro Fran Lenaers a los platos.
Took me back to my tripping daze. Thanks for upload.
Lars Bornkessel yup. this is where the entire Industrial/EBM LSD hole began for me

I bet the stadium was really shaking. About to break under all the weight.
AWESOME EBM!!!
Excellent instrumentation & rhythm #Industrial #EBM #NitzerEbb Masters of sound ⚙️🔥💪🏻
I can't believe this song isn't on Spotify
It is now,
I heard a Daft Punk song on the radio and I thought this is a lame attempt at the real shit, Nitzer Ebb! So I had to listen to this song to basically rinse my mind out.
They use the same synths but I agree nitzer ebb makes better use
To me daft punk was a one hit wonder, their only good track was scratchin and rolling. It seems like daft punk might have sampled from this track. Idk u tell me. Nitzer Ebb is the shit.
EBM UNITED EVER!!!
