Thanks for being transparent! I’m a Master Hairstylist and wanted to try the dryer, and was immediately concerned by the look of the comb and brush attachments. I thought the comb was too wide to achieve the necessary smoothness I’d need before proceeding with a flat iron or press. And after viewing your video, my concerns were proven. I commend Traci for her attempts and I do believe it will be great as is for all our sistah’s with mane’s that mimic Traci’s curls. Yet for our sistah’s with stronger, coarser curls, we need the comb attachment to be much much closer! And I can see the brush working better if the bristles were longer, it may be a little thicker to replicate the Denman Brush. With what I’ve been able to observe from Traci she seems to really care about our community and I hope she considers reviews like yours and makes or adds necessary changes for the heath and benefit of all our mane’s 😊 Transparency is caring! Enjoy
maybe for a smoother finish she should have turned on the ion feature with the brush attachment because I have similar textured hair and I know my hair is thick and fine and should be blown out with a round brush section by section. My hair texture baffles most amateur stylists and even not so amateur as well. I would also say detangling her hair while wet is actually better. I can see in the video her hair is dry. This is the problem with some of the reviews because she does not come off to be an experienced beautician so there is obviously a learning curve about how to handle her own hair. I appreciate this review none the less.
Was definitely looking for this type of review with someone trying to lengthen their 4 type hair! Greatly appreciate this! On the website it says the wide tooth comb attachment is for lifting and volumizing curls (similar to a wide tooth comb), and the brush attachment (based on a detangling brush) is for lengthening. I wonder what your experience and results would be like if your hair was more damp and you started with the brush. I'd love to see her add another attachment with just the comb. I think it's great though that she came in and set their company apart with being dedicated to attachments that cater to styles that natural girlies typically wear, given that most blow dryers are catered to straightening.
Yes, I think there needs to be some attachments added. Those are the only options I had. I don't think it would have been any different but I will give it a try one day. I think that would have made the process harder because the teeth aren't long on the shower detangling brush.
Good, comprehensive video. The second I saw that wide-toothed comb attachment I thought “uh uh.” Us with thicker, coarser and more coily hair usually want smooth results. I can’t see how that tool could assist with that. I ask myself how that could’ve slipped through. I also wonder about the focus of their marketing. Anyway, this video does a great job at breaking the logistics of the dryer down. And, Lee says the dryer does what a $200 dryer should do and I accept that information. I think that if I would spend that kind of money on a hair dryer then I would just add to it and get the Dyson.
I find fine tooth combs get tangled in my hair, so I avoid most dryer comb attachments with small spaced teeth. I like the idea of a wide tooth comb attachment so that my hair doesn't get tangled and broken off. I have tightly curled (type 4) fine hair with medium density.
Lee, before I continue the video, I notice despite you getting braids often your edges are fully intact. I don’t see that often. May you please give some insight into your braider? I.e., are they a long time braider? Do they leave your edges loose? I can’t seem to find a braider who does the right things to preserve my edges. Now into the video.
I totally agree. I used the Pattern dryer for the first time Friday and felt the same way about the wide tooth and brush attachments. As a tight coily the brush made me very uncomfortable. End result was stretched hair but not straight hair.
I'm literally about to buy one of these at Sephora (during the savings event) and your video was just what i was looking for -- a review of both of the blowdryers I was contemplating getting! Tysm for this!
LOVE THIS REVIEW. She didn’t talk too much, perfect review!!!

I wish i would have watched this video before we spent $200 on a blow dryer that can’t Get my hair straight enough so I can go through it.😞

@@serenitybloom4294so when i cant get mine straight enough i notice that it deals with my technique and the state of my hair before and by this i mean how good i washed my hair and the way i use the dryer and the attachments and how wet it is because as soon as i add or dry out some water and section my hair well i can almost get it and my roots bone straight which is an issue ive had with some other blow dryers and attachments too so if youd like to try again these might help if youre curious
Thanks for this review! I have the Dyson blow dryer and I absolutely love it! I was wondering how the Pattern one compared since my friends often ask me about hair products and tools but of course I didn't plan on buying one LOL. Great job doing this review and you are correct, they need to add you to the team!
Thanks for review, given that Tracee Ellis Ross has a fine hair type maybe the hair dryer works better on those hair types. I cant see me paying $200 for the Pattern blow dryer, I seen in Ulta and wondered how it worked
Thank U!! Finally a vlogger that said the quiet part out loud: a diffuser does absolutely NOthing for me either🤷🏽♀️- I look at them like, what the hellZ this s’posed ta do?! Ur hair texture is very similar to mine. Wonderful of u to go through each attachment step by step, I pretty much just played with it when I received mine in the mail. Your video feels like I have someone in the room explaining it all to me…..only in person…
This is the exact comparison video I was looking for Dyson v Pattern dryer. I rarely blow dry my hair and instead roller set it prior to getting braids installed. I get a blowout at the salon (11 minutes with a Dyson) but generally don't even use my FHI blow dryer or my FHI Platform flat iron.
I really think you would’ve had better results on wet hair. Could you do another review but on wet hair? Anytime I blow dry my hair when it’s already dry, the results are never as good
@@iknowlee oh my apologies. I wasn’t clear, I meant like using the brush attachment from the stat while it’s wet instead of after you use the wide comb attachment
I was thinking the same thing, there is no way her hair is wet, it may have been damp. It looked the same to me except her hair wasn’t as elongated but it didn’t look like she started from the ends to the root to stretch it out a little more. Being as the comb was wider starting from the bottom may have helped.
Thank you for this comparison review, it was niceandthorough. I hope they listen to your suggestions fror additional attachments. Your braids are beautiful! 😍
The only thing I wish you would have shared is how your hair feels afterwards. I bought the 1st Rev and to this day cannot understand the hype. I ended up selling on Ebay a year later. $400 down the drain. Only used it a handful of times when I had it. Left both me and my daughters hair feeling dry, wirery and completely void of moisture no matter how long or short or what settings I set to. This among the involuntary body work you will get while using it. Can you share how your hair felt afterwards including the day after before your braids? Please and thank you! BTW beautiful braids you wear them well and classy. New subbie.
I very similar hair and Love soft bristle attachments, gets hair straighter. More bristles are good. So excited to try the brush attachment tho it’s not soft bristles
Yes, the way you describe your hair. I knew I was watching the right video. It's unfortunate it won't work for me either. They need you at the at the next meeting.
Thank you! I love the concept and look of the dryer but am skeptical about the wide tooth and brush versus a more typical fine tooth comb attachment. It seems like the wide tooth might be good to dry my roots for a wash n go because my hair takes forever to dry. But I'm not buying a whole blow dryer for just that.
I know it would not work on my insane hair it’s for Tračee Ross hair not mine and my hair is almost all types mixed in on one head I truly don’t even wanna do my hair anymore 😩
You didn't blow dry your hair correctly. Nor did your prep your hair for the blow drying. It's easy to say the dryer doesn't' work for you when you don't take the popper steps to get the best results. Where is your blow dry cream? Why are you blow drying dry hair? Tension is what elongates your hair during blow drying. Hence why BRUSHES ARE NORMALLY USED. You were supposed to use the brush attachment.
My hair is dry, her heat protectant was used and I think it works just not as well as my Dyson. Brushes don't work well on my hair and add volume so it's not ideal for me.
@iknowlee You are not supposed to blow dry your hair while it's dry. If you do that , it will keep whatever shape it was in prior to your blow drying it. Also, if you insist on doing that, use a moisturizing blow dry cream. You need to add moisture to your hair before you add a blow dryer to it.
This is what the community needs….pure, genuine honesty…a person who’s “not for sale” I love it. New sub here 😊
I appreciate that!

Did you use the detangler nectar and leave it in before blow drying? I only ask because everyone I’ve seen use it washes it out.

Try the Revlon brush dryer and the yellow bird blow dryer
It's good for prior with 4c kinky hair
I brought the Revlon one so far
Pattern blow dryer is for curly hair not coily. They tried though.
I think they have something here and could expand on it
Gorgeous!
Great review ! 👏🏾👌🏾
This blow dryer isn't for people with Kinky Afro/type 4 hair. Period. Your hair is really pretty. And the wide tooth attachment is giving me hives.
I obviously have my opinion on it but there are still benefits
