The way he slides and stand up when there is still some momentum is so smooth
I've seen a few of these slides, but glad to see a compilation of them.
The guy turns the clay and grass in front of him into cooking oil on Teflon when he starts to slide, he's that smooth.
I wish I played on dirt like that lmao
Beautiful analogy. His slides are kind of like how Joe DiMaggio used to play the outfield. Pure poetry.
Trea Turner is the Fred Estaire of slides. One in a lifetime to see a player that graceful and smooth.
It’s too bad he has such a gea name
So sad the Dodgers let him go! I miss watching him since he's playing for an East Coast team.
Wish I could slide like that 😂. The field I play on is like concrete 😐
Same
Same
I played 13-15 league in Colorado and the infield had this weird stuff on it instead of dirt. It was like sliding on crushed seashells. Our pants and batting gloves were trashed from sliding after only a few games.
@@Murdokk00 Maybe we played on the same field
@@Murdokk00t’s a form of field aggregate. It’s a dirt alternative used so the field isn’t turned into mud if it rains. Still don’t want to play on the field when it’s wet cuz it will destroy it though. MLB fields are made of sand clay and silt mixed in different amounts. The fields are watered before and after every game still though just an fyi. That’s why mlb fields are softer
That slide into 2nd where he spirals around the bag is ballet to me. I've watched it about 1000 times and I still can't get enough.
He treats these bases like DM’s😂
I will never tire of seeing that Harper throw slide
Lol the 2nd example looks like some super slick dance move. Crazy
I’m a hockey guy with just a passing interest in baseball.
This guy is artwork in motion.
Worked in college & pro ball as a trainer; watched a LOT of baseball. There are guys who come along who do some aspect of the game unlike 98% of the rest. They may be mediocre at other aspects or they may be top shelf at everything else; there doesn't seem to be a pattern to it.
They make the game of baseball the beauty it is.
Trea's sliding is a good example. How he manages to turn featherlight, like he's mastered gravity, when he throws his body to the ground is a thing of beauty.
Just wondering... ever see him slide head first? Can't say that I have.
Mebbe he REALLY doesn't like the 'in the dugout 5 min later trying to get dirt & grit outta your pants' aftermath of going head first into 2nd.
Mebbe he disliked it so bad he learned how to defy gravity.
In little league I once slid into first, only to stop a foot short of the bag.
When I was 14, a catcher threw a bullet to 2nd and picked me off. The ump wrongly called me safe. I felt so bad. It was all I could do to keep my mouth shut and stay on 2nd.
Our third base coach's steal sign for me was to put his hands up and yell across the diamond: "Rico! Steal second!" - I stole almost every time I got on, but only on some pitchers if this catcher was behind the plate.
The Burner Trea Turner
As a nats fan i miss him in DC
I can’t slide that smooth on a slip n slide…
he's light and breaks down his speed so smoothly to get that extra speed in at the very end.
Check his uniform for olive oil... That's too slick!
I don’t ever watch baseball but he’s smooth for sure
My favorite player by far
He's the Roger Federer of baseball!! So smooth, it's like ballet.
He's also sliding very late and tapping the plate instead of trying to slide into the base. He's keeping his max running speed further down the line whereas sliding earlier decreases a runners momentum sooner.
Did you watch any slides after the second highlight?
Trea butter 🧈
This guy is so smooth he hits the toilet and the bed the same way guaranteed
How about a video of Dan Vogelbach's smooth slides.
1:10 Kudos to that ump. I had to slow to 0.25x to catch that one.
Great video, with the sound off
AMAZING!
nice videos
Cool as a damn fan....
I bet he “skin boarded” a lot as a kid. We moved like that at the beach or on a rainy day at the gold course 😂
How does he do it?
He practices, of course.
Like dancing
Who is your fav. player(position and pitcher)?
The plays are being cut off too soon.
Still breaks my heart he’s not a Nat
What was so great about this video was that I just muted your commentary and thoroughly enjoyed the video that much more. You can do that to most YT vids and the opinion of the uploader doesn't matter at all. Cheers!
He defies physics. I don't think his body has any electrons. No matter how quickly he hits the ground, you never see any bounce.
Uh, no. He is not defying physics. He simply is exploiting it.
you need a better video editor
Me thinking "wouldn't that be.a bad pitch?
Clicks: ohhhh. Smooth sliding, not thowing a smooth slider...
Impressive but does he have any skin left? 😂
How about a Ryne Sandberg slide compilation? His standup slides were so smooth. An inside the park slide

Baseball is so bad we’re now impressed by sliding. Wow
el mago 2.0
Not really. Javi’s slides are about quick juking maneuvers more than anything. Trea is smooth like butter, but Javy steals your wallet.
Is this supposed to distract me from his .651 OPS and atrocious defense this year?
yes and no
Say again?
He is 1.225 in the postseason, and wound up at .780 in the regular. So you should feel better
@@georgejameson9317 .779 OPS with some of the worst defense in baseball is horrible for someone getting paid over $27 million a year.
And he choked when it really mattered once again. That's the Trea Turner I know! Congrats Philly. 10 more years of this guy
@@SenorTortasyeah I guess you think he is choking this year again, you’ll learn this game one day
Shame he's aged out already.
Do you watch the games?
Rendone is not a star!
Why do you end every sentence like a creaking door? It's obnoxious
Too bad he has such a gea name
And you're jealous 😏
Capital "L" NO
“a burging superstar pitcher Hunter Greene”. LOL.
Wow do you guys know how much money he makes he better know how to slide
That sliding glove.. that’s tee ball little league crap , why not make a foot or 2 longer? See what I mean
Phillies made it a contractural item, he has broken bones in both hands and has some screws for repairs
