Love the of the requirement to carry a collapsable cup - at a trail event yesterday in Ireland and easily a couple hundred plastic cups used/wasted. I'll start to promote this idea here!
So amazing to have you back doing the Steep Life episodes. It's like seeing an old friend again after a long time. I know it's a big task doing almost daily videos, but I really hope that you will have the time and energy to start doing them again on a regular basis. Good luck with your training and racing towards Barkley. I will be following along from Denmark.
Keep more of the same coming Jamil. You have a lot of knowledge and experience to pass along. Like seeing the gear in use so will be great to see you video from RUFA. Plus looks like an awesome event.
Really like the videos of you and others running. Also your videos of races where you follow runners. Miller vs Hawks was epic! Basically your camera going up and down mountains.
Loved the run and good insight into your 'kit'. I'm so glad Steep Life is back! I've missed it. As always the music is right on. Thanks Jamil and crew! 👍
Super helpful info. Keep it coming. Many of us don't have a large local network of runners to get this kind of golden race info from . Hope the race was a success!
Thanks for the timely tips. Running first ultra this weekend (Everglades Ultra 50k) and have been stressing what to put in vest, and drop bags. Sunny and hot forecast (Damn!) has taken a bit of uncertainty out of the process. Please keep up these "How to" videos, they are very informative.
It's been a really warm winter this year. I'm in Logan, but I just moved from the Wasatch front and we've barely seen snow. I imagine you'll see some snow though depending on your altitude. But I have heard that it might get a little cold this week. Can't wait to see how things go.
Some runners are like I need a keto non gmo organic grass feed bulletproof breakfast, some are like just a bowl of fruit and kale and others are like donuts and cookies for breakfast!! I love it. Great videos!!!
Super useful video Jamil! I think u should do these kind of videos before every race analyzing the type of race, weather, distance and required items. Here in Europe the approach is not so minimal and we end up carrying packs stuffed of layer, double pants...I know that's for safety purpose but sometimes it gets challenging even before a registration especially if you are on a budget. Any tips for reducing pack's weight without buying super expensive items? Can't wait for the race recap!! Cheers from Italy!
Thanks for this man! I'm running my first ultra in October this year. It's the shawnee 50 mile and I'm super excited and nervous about it. Seeing your gear really helps me plan for mine. Thanks again!
Oh my f-ing God I have missed your Steep Life videos! Wonderful video Jamil, thanks for getting me my Steep Life fix! I'll be in town for BK100 Thursday, yup yup!
Great to see the videos back in play, Jamil! They always inspire me to get out to the trails. I really like my Sense Rides, but could use a more robust rock plate. They’re the first pair of Salamons that have the forefoot room I like. How do the Ultra Pros compare in width?
More great advice, thanks so much! Jamil, you mentioned in a video a while back when you were running a UTMB race that some guys didn’t know how to run downhill properly; how about some vids on running form/technique?
nice! have you tried the Kahtoola NanoSpikes? most of us Colorado runners use them more than the MicroSpikes. they are lighter and less abrasive on your shoes/feet than the Micro's...plenty of traction, however. check 'em out sometime! Dharma Blessings from the high San Juans and kill it in Utah!
I tested them at the Running event real quick. I had no issues with the microspikes during my race but unfortunately don’t get much use since i live in the desert!
Thanks Jam Jam! Do you ever consider waterproof shoes for conditions like you describe? Gore-Tex or Altra Neo etc? I use Saucony Xodis GTX for sloppy/slushy/snowy.
hey man, loving all your videos! Quick question...what SD size card do you have on your Go pro that can get you through a 100K race? or do you have multiple cards and batteries? thanks
How well does the BONATTI PRO WP JKT keep you dry in heavy rain? Last time I ran in moderate rain I used a Smartwool Merino Sport Ultra Light Hoodie and my jacket underneath still got soaked. Where do you store the BONATTI PRO WP JKT? Do you keep it folded up into its own pocket or do you stuff it into one of the other pockets in your vest/pack for easier access while you are running? Which pocket?
Wanted to say thanks for the content. Long time runner, new to ultras. Was curious about sizing on the Bonatti Pro. I’m 6’ 155. Usually in between med and large. With it going over a pack do you have any suggestions. Thanks again for the inspiration. My first ultra is Dead Horse in Moab.
I currently have the Ambit 3 Run from Suunto and love it. Only thing is it has about 10-11 hours of best accuracy GPS settings. (1 sec gps fixes) I want to run a 100 miler and think I need about 24 hours of battery. The Ambit 3 Peak says it can do 24 hours on 5 sec accuracy which should be good enough. Would appreciate tips from Jamil or others that have the Peak on what to expect. The 1 min gps udate gives 100 hours on the ambit 3 run I have but that is way to rough for my liking..
That is true. I always think of making it the least hassle possible though, and I`m a minimalist on weight and stuff to carry. But it is an alternative to buying a new watch. I`ll look into lightweight power banks.
I've been binging on steep life vlogs. I'm a mt biker that is slowly turning to trail running(gasp!) Cannot get that intro song out of my head. What is it??
Gear starts at 5:45
Love the of the requirement to carry a collapsable cup - at a trail event yesterday in Ireland and easily a couple hundred plastic cups used/wasted. I'll start to promote this idea here!
Please, please more of all what was in this video. Fantastic to have you back and all the best for the run.
kurastyles I agree 👍🏼
Great idea showing us exactly what you are bringing. Always helpful to see what others are doing.
I’m so glad you are back. With old intro too! Good stuff. You got a fan base in Sweden. Keep the inspiration coming. :)
I love exploring fresh cut trails! When you know every local trail by heart it's like taking a mini-adventure.
Thanks for showing what you bring. Very helpful for an upcoming Ultra for me
I love watching all of your adventures, Jamil! And what you're bringing to the race and why is really helpful!!
Thanks for the inspiration! Doing my 1st 100 miler this year! Javelina Jundred
Enjoyed the gear tips, and especially the run. Looking forward to seeing the video about the race, and also more videos chronicling epic runs.
Come for the gear but loved the run footage at the beginning!
I'm glad you're back man! I love seeing your notifications come up. Keep up the great content!
Please continue with these behind the scenes vids. It's great to see the thought process into gear selection.
These videos are dope and my 14 month old son loves jamming to the tunes!

Trying for maybe 3 per week to keep things more sustainable
I missed this! Welcome back, Jamil!!
Really stoked that you're back at it, Jam.
Having lived in central AZ about forty-five years ago, I enjoy seeing the open desert country. Thanks.
Thanks! The more detail on the gear the better for us when we're making our gear buying decisions :-)
Running my first 100 in the Bighorn mnts in Dayton Wy in June. Thnx for doing this video man. Huge help.
Keep more of the same coming Jamil. You have a lot of knowledge and experience to pass along. Like seeing the gear in use so will be great to see you video from RUFA. Plus looks like an awesome event.
There is a large section of this trail through AZ that basically follows the powerlines, those aside its a beautiful view

Brilliant video. Really helpful. ThankYou.

Total success! Video coming soon.
Glad to have you back Jamjam!! 😊

Yo how did you get on? Have you done any more ultras? :)
Really like this video!!
We (as starting longdistance runners) can learn a lot of these type of videos.
Btw, very happy the videos are back!
Great insight and presentation.
Great video! And good luck for the race! :)
Loved the gear covering section. I’ve been looking for a good new pair of compression shorts and now I know what to buy :-)
Wow! Very informative. Ty

I always enjoy your videos, JamJam. It was nice to see a, 'gear' video. The new trails look dope, too.
Great video! I loved that terrain!!
Hey cool trail in the beginning. I was wondering could you possibly show a video of how to build and maintain a trail?
Jamil is back ! Yeah !
Yes! You are awesome sir!
I decided to run my own personal 24 hour run...thanks for giving me a solid base to start with.
Thanks for this man! I'm running my first ultra in October this year. It's the shawnee 50 mile and I'm super excited and nervous about it. Seeing your gear really helps me plan for mine. Thanks again!
Oh, and I also LOVE my Stance socks! My son wore a pair for his homecoming dance 🤘🏻
The cacti in this video are so cool, would love to see that out on a hike
Great video as always Jamil. My first 100 miler next weekend so this is a good reminder of checklist for me!
Awesome knowledge gained Thank you very much Good People
Great vid Jamil!!!! Love all of that Salomon gear!!
Oh my f-ing God I have missed your Steep Life videos! Wonderful video Jamil, thanks for getting me my Steep Life fix! I'll be in town for BK100 Thursday, yup yup!
Good to see you back and competing. Congrats again on the Salomon gig
Nice gear Jamil.
Look forward to the vid from your race, looked crazy on Strava!
Wolfman1250s what’s Strava? 😉
That was a great video. Tips always help when it comes to kits. I'd like to see an episode of "What Jam Jam eats in a day" before a big race.
great tip to hook up (try to) with a local running group to get updates on local trails excellent tip!
Awesome! Would like to see how those items performed for you and which you ended up using!
Follow up video maybe on what I actually used?
Awesome trails!!!
Liked the new trail part of the video!
Great video. Great tips

Keep em coming Jamil. You planning on racing in the UK anytime soon?
Good thing you went to the mountains mate. The air in salt like is bad. The city is pretty nice though.
More great advice, thanks so much! Jamil, you mentioned in a video a while back when you were running a UTMB race that some guys didn’t know how to run downhill properly; how about some vids on running form/technique?
Yayy, the Old intro music is back!! :D
great content, thanks! ...shirt looks good!
Love that logo!
Loved the gear! I over pack for everything. And that trail looks amazing! New race location?
Good stuff!!
Great video 👍
Great idea with the cup, do we have them in the US yet? Small compact “my hiking cup by Sea to Summit” collapses but too ridged for running
We offer some for sale on AravaipaRunning.com or check hydrapak
2019 update would be cool :) thanks!

Pre run donuts - my kind of pre workout fuel!
Thanks for the vid!
love your videos
Thanks for the info!
Great info
Thanks Jam Jam! Do you ever consider waterproof shoes for conditions like you describe? Gore-Tex or Altra Neo etc? I use Saucony Xodis GTX for sloppy/slushy/snowy.
Ooooohh... sun and dry dirt trails...all we got here is snow and mud...
good stuff! brand/link to that collapsible cup?

Have you done a more recent gear vlog and I just can't find it?
So the reusable cup can pop back into place?

I live right by Grandeur!
It seems like a Salomon product advertising ...but tin tee shirt is from Salomon also?
I am a sponsored athlete, but this is literally the stuff I use. But you can also easily use other brands for the shirts, shoes and jackets.
The ram shirt is one of my own designs.
Great video! when running (in first 3 mins of video) are you holding the camera or some mount? GoPro?
I like those shorts/3 piece system. Do you have a coupon code for them? those jokers are expensive...

You can plug it into a small usb power bank via the charging cord mid race to top it up. Keep the best accuracy that way.

In the UK we have thing called fell running it's so hard-core what's your guys thoughts
In England we dont have trails like that one at the start
The pops back up cup? Details, please.
Hydrapak makes some or we sell a version st aravaiparunning.com
Thanks
Hey Jam! Are you gonna post any footage from your Hong Kong 100k? @runsteepgethigh
Still running with the Ambit 3 peak? In search for a good GPS watch now.....recommendations?
Currently Spartan Ultra but both area great. Hoping to get a chance to try out the Suunto 9 personally.
Love your videos Jamil. Is the vest a salomon s-lab sense ultra 8?
11:37 Any one knows exacly what is name of this jacket?
What brand is your collapsible cup? I want it. Best of luck at the race, mate!
Hydrapak Speed Cup
Awesome video!
What camera are you using for VLOGing these days Jamil?
Looking for recommendations on Salomon shoes for Western States, which two pairs of shoes would you recommend I try specifically for that race?
