Of course he would know more about WoW maps, he has his priorities set straight.

@@I-am-Igris You mean US World History, so just the wars we were in.
Nah just largely forgotten because we learn it pretty early like middle school, and most of our states are bigger than a lot of countries, and you have free access to them all (if you have a vehicle or bus fare) so it’s not pertinent to know.

Even the guess the state game thought we were so unimportant, that it made Iowa the last state on the list. lol
@@Robert-ow8bs Watching so much stuff related to US, I don't remember a single time I encountered Iowa before
@forgantmapper7092 Yeah, Iowa is right square in the middle of nowhere in particular lol
Iowa's basically just South Minnesota. It's cold, flat, but there's more going on in Iowa than people think. Dubuque has a casino on a small island right in the middle of the Mississippi River. If you're into renewable energy, Iowa has a lot of wind farms.
Iowa is famous for cornfields and Slipknot.
That was actually painful... lol
Take some pain medicine 😢
I just did the test after watching it and got a 96% 😂 I always mix up Massachusetts and New Hampshire otherwise it was all first clicks lol

I think the biggest problem was that he didn't even try to think where they might be. It's not a problem he didn't know, I doubt if I could get the UK counties all correct, but that he was so wrong.
I like how he got all the southern ones correct.
haha that is probably the only redemption from this video or else that was a disgrace. To be fair, I hardly remember any of the states in the mid west or east, they're just not very interesting.

I think if he did this test once a day for like a week, he'd be way more accurate. Games get that kinda repetition that makes learning their locations easier by virtue of actually wanting to engage with it. I don't know where states are either, but I could tell you every Halo weapon spawn location on most maps.
I've done this same game over multiple years. I'll go back to it a couple times a year, still forget stuff.

As a European I can 100% this US states quiz within a minute every time, yet I am barely able to name a third of the regions of my own country.

That’s ok as an American I know the capitals of most all European nations but I don’t know the capitals of barely any of the states except the one I live in.
I'm an American and I can 100% any geography quiz. Right now I know North, South, and Central America well. I also know Europe and Africa well. I don't know Asia well but I could easily study that for a few days and 100% a test if I needed to. So, not all Americans are idiots in geography.

Well if it's bad enough it's not like you could just get there smoothly anyway. If not, then you simply drive in the general direction and use the interstate signs.
Knowing the general direction is more than adequate unless there's a nuclear apocalypse....then I don't think your 5th grade geography will save you. 😂
@@Sentinel82 Asmond doesn't even know the general direction. Besides the Interstate signs, don't tell you how many states to go. They only tell you the next state over.
I can ace this quiz after doing it for about an hour, and then a few months later I'll forget where everything is and make a lot of mistake. This has happened repeatedly.
i have the same with chinese provinces
Ive been to St. Louis twice and STILL can't pick Missouri on the map 😭
Short term vs long term memory
Do it one-two more times some hours later, then two days later, then a week later and so on, its called spaced repetition, helps you ingrain things in long term memory

I stopped at FF12
I'm pretty sure I could still 50/50 this quiz and I'm not from the US. Who knows why but we had to learn these for my English classes at university.
After I found a great website where you could learn and test yourself with increasing difficulty I got rather good.
Last stage was a blank map and you got the state in a wrong position and size and you had to rotate it and resize and then put on the correct spot. I probably overdid it and could have used my time better but it was fun.
I haven’t laughed this hard in a while Jesus Christ.
This is just too funny I love it when he confuses capital for other cities but when it comes to some random place in the wow he can give the most exact information and also give tiny lore bits. Literally shows how much humans are capable and passionate about things they love. It's sad to see people are not happy with real life so they find their happiness and passions elsewhere.
I really think people from outside the U.S. don't understand how big each state actually is. Pretty much every country in the E.U. is smaller than the average U.S. state.
Imagine if Germany, France, Italy, etc. were all perfect rectangles and had no notable language or cultural differences.
It's like trying to identify all the prefectures in Japan. Hardly anyone outside Japan can do that. Many Japanese even can't do it lol
But you should just know which states are were based on history .,if one is one of the first 13 it can't on the west coast. Then there is the list of Union and Confedarate states, and then the list of states you had to cross while on the Oregon trailer. That is how we learn all the states of the US.
The cope is real
Bro people in france actually know a great part of the hundred of sub region. And why would someone think that size matters ? + there is obvisouly a lot of cultural diffferences around the country, and variation in the environment, it's really hard to understand that lack of interest from american people. Because it is a lack of interest, not some state size and shape xd.

Alot of people coping about being stupid.
That time when memory is a function of IQ.
Will you eventually forget your name if not reminded? For most people knowing a basic level of geography sits at the baseline of their knowledge, something that for no reason you'd forget. Also "you aren't going to use the information", I'd say it's pretty central to having any real concept of the world around you and without that you're forfeiting a level of credibility when speaking on such a thing.

There is no way this is real. Asmongold has to playing this up for content. I cannot believe this can be real.
for someone who only leaves their house mainly for work, food, and to see their family, the US map isn't as relevant as the WoW map, which you use almost daily and have used for 20+ years.

Before I watched the video, I did the quiz and got 78%. As a 25 year old Canadian I thought that was decent. Then I witnessed something that I didn't expect but was simultaneously not surprised by, Asmon being clueless.
I’m pretty sure he was trolling
@@tgray1 No he is just bad. He doesnt even know his own country.

The US gov should create more side quest for ppl to travel the country
6 wrong on the U.S., 95% right on a Wrath era map. For someone who's only traveled out of state twice on school trips, I'd call that a W.
When people can name hundreds of pokemon but not states, it is not a matter of being stupid but simply different priorities. If their job and way of life required them to know the states, or they played a video game that used the USA map, then they would definitely learn the states. But for most people it just doesn't come except when asking people "hey where are you from?".
bro pokemons can be told apart with a glance, US has squares tons of squares, attempt to name every state with just the isolated photo

A lot of people were making fun of him, but I'm preeeeetty sure that 80% of them would have been just as bad.
As someone who's European, this made me want to learn the position of ALL of the states, using the same platform, and I had fun doing it. I guess that's what it's all about at the end of the day.
He's pretending.... right?
Yes
not really👍
well yes, but actually no
Pretty f*cking sad that as a Canadian i could name and locate atleast 80% of the states but American citizens are completely clueless. You don't have to be a geo nerd but just some basic geography knowledge can go a long way. This is truly sad.
I can get 100% but that's not because of school, I've been to and spent some time in every state but California. It seems like most Americans only visit neighboring states. I don't know why but U.S. geography is very lightly taught in elementary and middle school.
Although it is basic knowledge, I would still call it trivial. Unless you have family there, it doesnt really matter to a Californian where Vermont is, they are 44 hours of driving apart.
Actually trolling. Made it too obvious :(
To be fair, some credit to the devs for making all the different areas instantly recognisable and distinguishable from one another
That was rough.
As a person who is native to Azeroth, I don't blame him for not knowing the States
State locations is one of those things that seems weird and funny to not know, but also knowing it will literally never make any difference to your life whatsoever.

No fucking way ... He makes fun of Gen Z and Millennials all day for not knowing shit, and this guy can't even satisfy 6th grade curriculum lol
To be fair the stuff you dont use, you forget.... I also have trouble recalling most of the basic curriculum from high school. I work in IT and service management, I could draft the core network map of the IPBB in eastern europe, but couldnt recite the capital cities of each state in my country. And there is only 19 of them. I basically never deal with matters or travel within my own country so its not in short term memory.
You’re joking right? 💀
What exactly do you count as part of the 6th grade curriculum now-a-days? From what I understand, he knows both English and math better than what is required in this shit hole country now. He sure as hell has a better vocabulary than most high school grads, and that's depressing because it's only going to get worse with our lowering of standards. I'd say he did ok on the states, who the hell needs to know where they are anyway when nothing in your life depends on it. I could travel just about anywhere in my state and know exactly where I am, but I couldn't fucking tell you the streets that are connected to the one I have lived on for 25 years, and that street is less than 100 feet long with 3 connections.... good luck knowing tiny fucking colony states who's only purpose is to make the country go to shit.
You literally can’t graduate school in America without learning about America. Learning the states is one of the first things in the US History curriculum and Geography and that starts around 3rd, 4th grade if I’m remembering correctly? But you learn your state then the other 49. This is Elementary and Middle School sh*t 💀
These guys are right we never use the information like that. Plus with the advent of gps it has become even less used. Most states are the same on a day to day scale from the perspective of us Americans. No major borders between states just a sign that says hey this place is a new imaginary boundary. We also have state pride but being an American supersedes those tiny difference, which makes the information even less important to us over time. And lastly yeah you have a point Americans in general aren’t great at geography. If you are then great. However I would bet it’s a minority.
omg at the end he tried to pick Canada lolol

theres a common misconception that not knowing geography makes people dumb, it doesnt.
only a small portion of people will require geography some day in their lifes and since its so boring and useless memorization most people forget about it after some time. that doesnt mean the person is dumb it just means that they havent used that information so they forgot about it, its completely normal.
It does.
Most people believe in some form of higher power, doesn't mean any of them are right, and that I can't think they're stupid.

for the first thing u said: ppl can believe in some form of higher power, you can think they are wrong and u can think they are stupid but that doesnt mean they are either wrong or stupid because u urself have never seen this higher power to know if its real or not.
for the second thing, japanese kanji and the amount of countries in the world and even the states in the US ARE in the same category because its called memorization, when humans dont use the information they memorized for a long time they forget about it its a completely normal brain reaction. you CAN say that its easier to memorize the 50 states and u CAN say that someone is "ignorant and sheep-like" for not having it memorized, but again that doesnt mean they are ignorant and sheep-like because its a normal fenomena of the human brain.
