I think my favorite story about the actors is when a Director assigned them homework. They had to write an essay in character. Daniel Radcliff wrote like half a page, Emma Watson wrote like a dozen pages with very good handwriting, and Rupert didn't bother to do it. They understood the assignment.
Sadly ... Emma Watson turned out to be the "insufferable know-it-all(-better)" IRL which Snape calls her ... because she turned into a really nasty feminist.
@@Muck006 And then turned on the woman who made her famous. For protecting the rights that all feminists fought for.
Being a feminist is not wrong. Fighting to have the same rights is the best thing someone can do in politics. @@Muck006

Ron told his parents Harry wasn’t expecting gifts for Christmas so they made sure to send some.
Ron wanted Harry to have a good Christmas. The twins also help and treated Harry like another brother from year one on.
They are like the big bro that goes "whatever you do DONT take this key to the basement."
"Does the wand choose the wizard"
Me: YES OH GOD U GET IT
I'm a Christian and my family didn't let me watch this as a kid! As an adult I have watched it and now I am a total Potter head! These movies have a special place in my heart ❤️ so glad you can experience these movies with an open mind!
Yaaay. I feel so sad for people who weren't allowed to watch this. Such a classic story of good vs evil. Such bravery, such friendship. Love it.
I think you should read all books about Harry Potter! We read it in childhood step by step when its published ❤ we were growing up with characters and absolutely sure that books better than movies 🎉
I don't understand why?, genuine qstn
@@robbyrthomas5623 a lot of certain kinds of christians think it's devilish. It says stuff about sorcery, magic and such in the bible.
I know somebody who also isn’t allowed to have anything to do with Harry Potter. It’s really unfortunate, especially as I am one of the rare Christians who was in love with the franchise since I was very little! I’m happy you can enjoy one of the most brilliantly written stories of all time with us!! :D
My main critique of the films is that they emphasised Ron's negative traits, and emphasised Hermione's positive traits....they were much more balanced in the books. Plus...Neville is given more book time than screen time.
Most people can survive 1 week without food, actually 3-4 weeks, 3 days without water, and 12-14 days without sleep, but yeah, still child abuse.
My main critique of the films is WHERE THE FUCK IS PEEVES ?
@@fox_trot0214 fair point too
@fox_trot0214 they Actually had scenes filmed with the comedian Rik Mayall as peeves, but completely cut them from the film which i personally think is a travesty.
Letting Hermione explain things (wizard history) which she would never have known about (due to being muggle-born) was awful and turned Ron into the "comedic sidekick" that he wasnt.
Hagrid was even more badass when he came to get Harry in the book, he didnt just bend the barrel of Vernon's gun up, _he tied it into a freaking knot and threw it away_ lmfao
OMG, Oscar, of COURSE you should continue the series! With as much as you've enjoyed their first year at Hogwarts?? Oh, yes! As the kids get older, their adventures become more mature, and with heavier consequences! As an avid fan of both Harry Potter and YOU, I would LOVE for you to watch and react to the rest of the series! 😊❤
I can’t wait to discover the rest!!
Hello there, and welcome to the magical journey. Christians and other religions got it all wrong, I'm afraid. Harry Potter is not what they think. And I think by now you discover what it really is about. I am honored to take this magical journey with you..
@@thecocoacouchFYI....... And people often get this wrong. When professor quirrel Yelled to Harry to come to him. He was actually using magical domination. At this point in the story, Harry is not strong enough to resist. And voldemort on the back of quirrell's is very dark magic. And yes, the power of love burns evil...true legends exist....
The different houses represent different characteristics. Gryffindors are brave, they help others and are chivalrous. The Ravenclaws are intelligent, they prize knowledge, and have wit. the Hufflepuffs are hard working, loyal, and trustworthy. Slytherins are cunning, ambitious, and resourceful. Harry has a personality that fits both Slytherin and Gryffindor but he wants Gryffindor so that’s where the hat puts him.
Also, not really a spoiler since I’m sure you’ve caught onto this. But Hermione is really intellectual and easily could be Ravenclaw. Ron is very loyal and trustworthy, and could be a Hufflepuff. And Harry’s ambition to do well in this new world he’s in and prove himself would fit well with Slytherin. So they’re all in Gryffindor but they also embody the other 3 houses.
That’s really cool. I can see why they work so well as a unit then. Also I think it just makes more sense that way since most humans are more layered like Harry with multiple characteristics.
A bit late but I would like to add that ravenclaws are creative :)
if was almost in Slytherin becouse if the .. i dont wanna spoil it but it has to something with voldemort
@@JesulyFPSIt's a bit late for spoilers.... this was a year ago

13:04 the way Hermione said “what an idiot” is so iconic it’s one of my favourite memes of all time kinda sad you cut it out lol 😂
For Ron, in this movie, it’s the way he says “Mental, that one, I’m telling you!” about Hermione. And Harry nods back at Ron too, seemingly agreeing. He cut that out too! 😂
imagine having a favourite MEME of all time
Yeah, you can usually tell when the person reacting does their own editing, because they cut out parts that people usually like to see but it didn't do much for them, personally lol.
Oscar, to answer your question about the differences between houses without spoiling anything, here's what the Sorting Hat itself says about them in the first book: "You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry,
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means,
To achieve their ends."
It’s so strange but also very refreshing to watch someone who has no clue about anything in the HP universe watch this:)
so for quidditch 10 points are gained with each goal scored and the snitch give 150 points to the team that catches it and ends the game so if the score was 200 to 40 the team behind would want to wait till they had 60 and then catch the snitch otherwise the score would be 200 to 190, basically there are more tactics to it for both sides
Right okay. Makes sense, just seems like unless there’s a huge gap between the scores, it’s kinda all on what team catches the snitch.
@@thecocoacouch yeah, if ur up get it if ur really far down wait till the score is higher, more details are in the book, i believe one game lasted a month because the weather was terrible and no one could catch the snitch so they had to keep substituting, this was before harrys time in school
@@thecocoacouchwell technically catching the snitch is usually the hardest job. It's the size of a walnut and flies incredibly fast. Think trying to catch a hummingbird.
I also really loved how quick Harry was to recognise the bully vibes from Draco lol
to be fair, draco was not trying to hide it at all lol
He god Duddley flashbacks and said "nah f@ck u"
Emma was 10 when this was filmed- she played this role beautifully. When I was 10, I got nervous in front of my parents. 😂
Alan Rickman was the perfect choice for the role as Prof. Snape
Rickman wanted to quit the series after the 2nd or 3rd movie but jk told him snapes story and it convinced him to stay
RIP
I didn't like his portrayal. He played Snape as too good. In the books he's way nastier. In the films he's like good but stern.
@@valeriazenoni6478 u can’t blame the actor for the script their given
I’m late to this party, but I really appreciate that you noticed how Gryffindor won because Dumbledore gave back the points they lost helping Hagrid. He wasn’t showing outrageous favoritism like lots of people think. He really only gave 20 points- ten to Harry for bravery, and 10 to Neville for doing the right thing. Very reasonable I think! And I love how it’s was Neville’s points that won the cup. 😊
I’m all good with him not showing favoritism to Gryffindor but he was definitely unnecessarily mean. They could’ve given the points to Gryffindor earlier or at least not make everything look like Slytherin won and then give away points just enough points so that they lose.
Harry Potter was the only reason many of us survived adolescence. I am so happy when I see the younger generation get into this wonderful world, and do not understand why so many of my own are so annoyed when anyone else enjoys it. It brought us through in a big way and other people should have that, too.
There's been a lot of talk about poor child actor labor standards here in Denmark in the news the last couple of days. With this being a kids movie, with a lot of child actors, I'd hate to find out, if their working conditions weren't how the should've been, like working more hours than allowed per day, or even some days, not having enough brakes during filming, or not having access to a psycologist on set, not one for each actor, but just a single one resposible for anything wanted to talk about. These are just the main things being talked about here in Denmark, I don't know the rules in other countries of course.
"Look at that scar; it looks like a lightning bolt!"
"How does this work, does a wand choose you or something?"
"So how does it work, is it like boarding school?"
"So, what do the houses mean, how does it split you, like what does it judge about you that makes you go to a certain house?"
"Slytherin sounds like a snake."
"What is Quidditch?!?"
Oh, you're a TRUE newbie.
Also: "I feel like they're intentionally setting up Snape to look like the bad guy." Good catch!
I’m Christian and my family lived in England when these books first started coming out. My parents looked into the content of the story and allowed us kiddos to read them if we wanted to. The overall story is well worth the read and, as is true with most adaptations from book to film, the books are so much better! If you don’t carry on with the movies, you should definitely read/listen to the books!
Oh I'm so excited to see all your reactions to HP films. I grew up with the books and the movies. One gets so attached to the characters. I wish I could delete my HP memory to be able to experience the Harry Potter journey for the first time.
Hahah that’s me with LOTR. I mean that’s why I got into watching others do reactions to movies.
@@thecocoacouch Lol same
Not a spoiler: Argus Filch is a “squib.” He was born of magical parents but can’t practice magic. I hope you keep watching and reacting to HP and hello from Texas/USA 👋🏽
It's not that he can't practice magic, he wasn't born with magic ability despite being born to magic parents. The reverse of Hermione if you like.
Fun fact about the 4 Hogwarts houses, J.K. Rowling actually based these on the four elements of astrology: fire, earth, air and water. Gryffindor = fire (bravery, adventure, boldness), Slytherin = water (this one really only applies to the water sign, Scorpio as far as being cunning, resourceful, etc.), Ravenclaw = air (intelligence, wit, creativity), and Hufflepuff = earth (loyal, hard-working, dependable)
7:27 idk why I teared up at this. But watching you watch this ❤🙏 I’m so so glad I’m already a Patreon supporter. Highly encourage everyone else to, too! Also, I grew up the same way, my grandparents wouldn’t even buy me the books when I was younger. I was the same age as Harry when each book came out, and this series is the reason I survived to adulthood. It’s a wonderful tale of friendship and found family and perseverance and staying true to your heart. I’m still a strong believer and very much still love the series. I hope you find the same joy in it that I have ❤
😆 it really sucked me in with how intriguing the enemy is. Also thanks for the support, really helps me out day to day. I can see why these stories are so influential and helpful for kids in particular. Aside from the actually “witch craft” I think the overall messages are really good for people to soak up!
It’s so rare to see an reactor who has practically no significant knowledge of the story! It’s great to see you discover it as we did with the books. The world J.K Rowling created for her children is more fantastic and complex as you could imagine yet. The story grows with the characters as well as with the little actors which is absolutely unique and that’s the reason why these books and films are loved by children and adults.
The adult cast of the series includes the crème de la crème of British actors at the time.
As scary and dominant and unfair the great Alan Rickman is as Snape he was actually a very kind and gentle man in real life and it was a strike of genius in casting him for this role (he was the one Rowlings wanted from the beginning) and the movies would not have worked the way they did and still do without him. The whole cast is stunning and could not possibly be better.
You are up to a amazing journey.
@@thecocoacouchThe witchcraft and magic main theme of the saga is really just the point of the iceberg. There’s much more to this world, and you even start feeling it from the first film.
Your comment made my eyes water up a bit. I know I'm a stranger, but I'm so glad that you made it to adulthood and that you had this to help along the way!
I don't know how to express how happy I am right now! Watching you watch HP for the first time bring me back to childhood and makes me feel like a kid again! I loooove all your reacts, but this is the best so far! I must admit as a scientist (I'm a researcher) I'm not a religious person so I cannot really understand your childhood, but I'm really happy that you've decided to watch HP! I cannot wait for your next HP video!!! I'm so excited!!!
Great reaction as always - definitely a great series of films. I read the books before I saw the movies - a great read as well.
Thanks man! Can’t wait to see more
They never explain it in the movies, but the reason they don't say Voldemorts name has something to do with the fact that it would trigger the. bad guys to find you. Struggling to explain because I don't want to give anything away. But that's why there's so much fear around saying his name.
Think it's later on that happens at this point it's out of fear people don't say his name
It has a link with real life superstitions too. Folklore and legends of old-time witches said that if you even uttered their name, it leaves you open to attack and being cursed. The whole "See a Penny pick it up" thing also started as "See a pin pick it up" because if you didn't it meant a witch could find it and use it to curse you. This all has to do with dark and evil magic / magic users, and in this world where magic is real, it makes sense to be fearful to even say someone's name who is a powerful dark wizard.
Fact: Ollivander, the wand seller was Kane in Alien, the first to die, with a chestburster.
Alan Rickman, who plays Snape, is such a good movie villain (he was villain in Die Hard and Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, both movies I recommend), no wonder we like him so much.
Of course, MacGonagall gave that broom to Harry. She is head of Griffindor House and was tired of losing to Slytherin.
I would love to watch you react to the entire series! The movies get better and darker as the story progresses.
Yess plss
Oh no! It. Gets. Darker!??
@@Quvan yeahh but yet with so many plot twists leaving you emotional sometimessss😩 also as they growing older things become more serious
@@Quvanit does, but in an interesting way, it’s like the movies grow up with the characters and with the audience
Well, "better" is certainly debatable (normally I don't like children's movies, but the Columbus entries are my favorites because of the very reason they are children's movies), but "darker" is definitely true, if not an understatement. 😉
They missed two of the seven challenges for the stone; each put in by different staff:
Fluffy - Hagrid
Devil’s Snare - Sprout
Keys - Flitwick
Chess - McGonagall
Troll - Quirrell***
Potion Riddle - Snape ***
Mirror of Erised - Dumbledore
People ask why Dumbledore exposes his pupils to danger. The point is, he's equipping them for life as wizards in a dangerous magical world.
I’d agree if those dangers weren’t completely unsupervised and life threatening 😄 they’re 11 year olds.
Imagine if he vastly overestimated them and all 3 kids just got eaten in the first year 😅 I guess technically Voldemort couldn’t have come back without Harry though so is that still a win?
I first read the books when I was 8 years old (back then I think there were only 2 or 3 out) and I've reread them every year of my life. I'm 30 now! How I relate to the story has changed as I've grown, continually seeing it with new eyes. I think it was quite formative in how I came to see the world growing up - always with my head in the clouds, appreciating creativity and imagination but my feet on the ground, believing that standing up for what's right is a moral imperative and that the best way to interact with the world is with love and kindness.
As loyal as these movies are to the books, they have to cut out more and more as the movies go on. I highly recommend you read the series!
Yes! My favorite movie series. Wizards have different money from muggles. The gold galleons are huge coins. Then there are silver sickles and bronze knuts.
If you're talking about Ron being arrogant you couldn't be further from they truth. Ron has a *huge* inferiority complex because his family is on the poorer side and he has 5 older brothers who have done everything well. There's another reason his family is looked down on but that's for next movie. Also judge his true character by the books not the movies because they gave his best stuff to Hermione.
Hermione is smart and good at spells because she's talented and studies..a lot..an ahead of everyone else. It's also because the screenwriter admitted that he deliberately boosted Hermione's character because he liked her better than the boys..even the hero. He deliberately left out the part where Hermione tends to freeze or overthink everything in the face of danger.
Out of all of the trio I'm the most like Hermione. 😁
Hey glad your giving these movie a chance. Im Christian myself, but my folks were always fine with watching movies like HP. Still again glad you're getting into HP. It gets really good through out all the movies IMO. Still have a great one dude. 🙌🙂
Yeah I can’t wait. Not too fussed though, they let me watch almost everything else just not stuff with deliberate “witch craft” yah know.
@@thecocoacouch Well that's good to hear. Still can't wait to see how you enjoy the rest of the series.
There are so many "Christian" themes in HP in terms of personal values, chiefly among them the power of sacrificial love.
The real reason conservatives avoid HP is that the movies teach a lot of *liberal* values: rejecting caste-based bigotry, accepting others for who they are, standing against authority figures when they are in the wrong, etc.
I would be absolutely _delighted_ to see you react to all these movies! You’re very intellectual yourself! You’re very insightful into the moral lessons of the movie; like pointing out that just because the mirror shows you what you want most doesn’t mean it’s what’s good for you or what you need. And that maybe you could use it to understand yourself better and work through your issues! So smart! I haven’t seen a lot of reactors pay that much attention. I would love to see you analyze all the movies that way.
17:53 cus harry is the seeker he only has the job to catch the golden snitch so thats why he didn't do anything until the golden snitch came
I never clicked on a react video so fast in my life!
Me too! 😂😂😂😂
I'm stoked to see you're starting Harry Potter. Its a great series, and something I've always considered tied to Christmas time. Probably because I "discovered" it around the holidays, or maybe its the music, I'm not sure lol. Anyway, Ive seen enough of your reactions to feel pretty confident that youre going to absolutely love the whole series. The world building only continues, the emotional ties to the characters grows ever stronger, and it's just a fantastic ride.
Well, it makes a lot of sense that you relate the Harry Potter franchise with Christmas, and you’re not the only one. Me too, for example, for a couple of reasons:
First, because the dates when these films were casted on cinemas were always very close to Christmas time.
Second, because if you pay attention, you’ll notice that Christmas is at some point present in every film :)
I link it to Christmas too! I'm not sure where you're from, but here in England (and I'm guessing the rest of the uk too) a couple of the major TV channels will broadcast the movies in the week(s) coming up to Christmas, it was the only time I could see them because we couldn't afford the fancy movie tv channels and didn't own a dvd or vhs tape player so that's why it's a "Christmas" film to me :)
You are in for the adventure of a lifetime in the whole of cinema history…As you go further into the series, it gets so much darker and really heart wrenching but also inspiring and hopeful all at the same time..The character development from everyone was astounding…Growing up with these movies, they hold a special place in my heart and im so looking forward to the rest of the series! It really is worth the hours! Please react to the whole series, you will not be disappointed. Loved your reaction though! You nailed the ending pretty well.
oh no way!! i am so incredibly excited for you to do this series! about to watch the video! much love from scotland, hon!
we may not come from the same background religiously but i hope that you can find something you can relate to and love in these movies just the same as me and so many others! but if not it's commendable to give it a go!

i love that you’ve decided to watch these! such an integral part of pop culture and an incredibly rich story and well thought out world. i hope you enjoy the rest! definitely looking forward to accompanying you on your journey ❤
I enjoyed your reactions for HP very much. The Harry Potter movies are definitely in my favorites list .....I love seeing their friendships grow with each other and others . This revolves around witchery but it is so much more endearing between friends and families . Thank you for your reactions here and I look forward to many more .
I don’t know if anyone already explained it, but the way the golden snitch works was kinda explained poorly in the movie. You don’t automatically win, it grants you 150 points and ends the game. Normally that’s enough for you to win, but if the opponent Leads with 160+ points, catching it will just end the game and you still lose.
Oh, just continued watching. The movie does tell you later on and you did pick it up^^
This movie was the most faithful to the books but a lot of things got sped up because of the details- so some things that may have confused you were better explained in the book- the houses for example, would be unknown to muggle born children or Harry so the sorting hat sings a song before they put it on and it tells them which qualities it looks for in each house so they cut out a funny bit from the book (Harry was so nervous that he wondered if there was a house for kids who felt queasy) 😂 and Quidditch was explained in further detail but I didn’t understand it until I watched the movie 😅😅😅
i like how petter pettingrew was foreshadowed in the first book and movie. ron trying to change his rat yellow but he isn't a rat so it didn't work.
*Gryffindor - Bravery, helping others, and chivalry
*Hufflepuff- Hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play
*Ravenclaw - Intelligence, knowledge, planning ahead, and wit
*Slytherin - Ambition, cunningness, heritage, and resourcefulness
From what I've seen with other reactors , Harry Potter movies, the MCU and Heartstopper all have really increased likes, subscribers, etc for creators on UA-cam.
your reaction to voldemort in the back of quirrels head (absolute disgust) made me burst into laughter. Thats the appropriate reaction.
There’s a final challenge at the end of the movie that got cut out that lets Hermione shine even more - it’s a logic puzzle with potions. Some of them are straight poison, some placebos, and two of them let the drinker proceed forward into the next chamber. Of course Hermione figures it out! Haha
I traveled to England as a child and got the opportunity to visit Christchurch in Oxford, where they filmed many of the Hogwarts scenes. It was super cool.
Ive tried to watch others react to these films, but i was so glad to see you watching them now. You are my favorite among the film reactors at this strange medium:).
When i read the last book I cried so much, ive never cried so much whilst trying to read. I was in the same age as these characters when this first book came out. My mother read most of them to me and my little brother, but the last ones we read on our own. Im glad I'm part of that generation. And yeah Snape is the most mysterious character and you can't help but love his bitter way of expressing himself.
I’m also Christian, but I don’t know the Lords exact words on the matter, but I know that I can enjoy something without believing in it. Excited to see all your reactions!
Generally speaking I'm pro religion, and even more so pro spirituality. That said the last time I checked they celebrate Christmas at Hogwarts. Also pretty sure people who 'practice' witch craft in real life are basically nature worshipers...they don't use wands and perform real magic. Its a story of good versus evil meant for entertainment and nothing more. The people who try to use religion to go after these books and movies are just narrow minded and small people looking for attention. Slavery still exists today on the planet, there are people starving, there is homelessness...and drug addiction, (real evils) and these clowns are wasting their time whining about Harry Potter. Blows the mind.
Need some work on the reading comprehension here. I'm not 'whining' about religious people. As I said I am pro religion and pro spirituality and generally speaking I consider myself a pretty spiritual person. I don't see this as a religious issue at all. This is a 'type of person' problem. In fact I would argue that the vast majority of religious people don't have an issue with the Harry Potter books and movies for 'religious' reasons. Just a very vocal minority. So trying to lecture me for judging an entire group of people isn't a very good argument. I'm not doing that. I simply pointed out the narrow mindedness of a very small group of ignorant and narrow minded people. In the same way there is a small vocal group of people who attack JK Rowling endlessly on Twitter, and who recently failed miserably to boycott the Hogwarts Legacy video game. They failed for the same reason the other group has failed...because 99% or more of the rest of don't agree. For the most part both groups are little more than morally crusading zealots who are just on the opposite side of the coin. As I often say, when your politics become your religion, or your religion becomes your politics it isn't a good thing. Calling out how ridiculous all of this is doesn't make one a zealot as well...its more akin to looking at a flat earther and rolling your eyes and shaking your head.
@@scottswenson383 I was with you till you defended J.K Roweling. I love Harry Potter, and still do, but its no secret J.K Roweling is a HUGE Transphobe. McGonigal just isn't being sweet giving Harry the Nimbus 2000. She is from Gryffindor too.
The Weasley’s actually have a really good reputation. They are powerful and humble.
It’s only death eaters that don’t like them and that’s because they are pure blood that don’t care about blood status.

I've just been exploring your channel since watching your Hunger Games reviews and I'm loving your reactions, they're so authentic! Fun fact, I'm also a Christian and wasn't allowed to watch HP growing up. Now I've seen them a million times and read the books, and absolutely LOVE it! So glad you did this series.
I'm not even half through this video, but have to say, this is the reaction I've been waiting for. You seem very observing, and pay great attention to everything that happens. Thoroughly enjoying!
I was also raised Christian, but my parents decided to judge the movie for themselves instead of listening to what everyone else was saying. They loved it like I did.
I’m a very devout Christian and, while I completely respect and support Christian parents being mindful of the media their children watch, I do think sometimes it can be taken to an extreme in its limiting of fantasy stories and magic. Stories with magic can still have great lessons that teach kids Christian values. I mean, look at Lord of the Rings. The author was a devout Catholic! Anyway, I’m glad I found your channel, you’re such a wholesome and fun reactor! God bless!
Great insights into Snape as well 😉
My youngest daughter and I read every book and watched every movie from the time she was 10, until the age of 18. It is one of the many precious memories I’ll have of her.
I adore the Harry Potter series (both of the books- although these days my knowledge is a little rusty seeing as I read them as a child - and the movies). The world is so rich and full. I like a lot of others, can't wait to watch the rest of the series along with you mate!
in the book, the Dursley's are the ones who take Harry to the station. it's a lot more morbid though: in the book they take him to the station, pack up his stuff, show him platforms 9 and 10, and then proceed to ditch him there while pointing and laughing. Straight up drove off without an eleven year old after leaving him in the middle of London. Insane
Your laugh is so fun. Glad I found your channel gonna binge all your vids now
Yaaay I love Harry Potter and I love Friends so it looks like I’ll be watching your videos for a while haha. Also you have a very contagious laugh haha it’s great!!!

In the UK & Australia it’s “The Philosophers Stone! Great reaction! Thank you!❤️
Ooh I'm so happy you're reacting to this franchise! I loved your reaction and can't wait for you to react to all the rest of the movies. It's gets darker as they grow up. Keep going ❤
watching someone who’s never seen my favorite movies of all time just hits too close to home. glad to see you’re enjoying this cinematic masterpiece!
I've known Harry Potter for many years now, although my first encounter were the books with which I fell in love with pretty much after the first chapter. Seeing someone experience the wonders of the magical wizardworld for the first time is as amusing as it is exciting. The movies did a great job adopting the books (most of the time) although I made the experience that as a book fan it is easier to see the movies and books a bit like two sides of the same coin. To all my hardcore movie fans out there: Yes, I love these movies but I love the books more. It's okay if you want to enjoy your side of the coin, but there is a lot of good stuff on the other side as well. Trust me. You don't have to read the books but it is a fun experience. And I say that as someone who has read them eight times by now.
Also: Of course, Alan Rickman's performance was the best. Rest in Peace, one of the greatest actors of all time.
I grew up with these and the books. They, and Jo, have a very special, permanent place in my heart. I still have my childhood set, and though it's falling to bits, I’m in the process of getting my beloved books rebound in leather so they can outlast me. 💕
I’ve watched so many different Harry Potter reactions cause I absolutely adore the franchise and this is probably one of my all time favorite reaction videos. I can really feel your joy and excitement at being introduced to this world and I’m so excited to see you learn more about it!!!!
I just happened to come across your channel and thought to see what your reaction would be to this movie. All of those child actors did wonderfully for this first movie all the way through the last one. Yes, you saw it correctly Severus Snape was saving Harry Potter's life at the Quidditch match. There are a lot of mind-blowing twists throughout the series. This movie is more storybook telling, the rest of the films get darker as they go. The child actors picked up on tips from the adult actors too, once they realized who they were. Alan Rickman as Professor Snape is spot on when he delivers his lines in the movies! I do hope you do continue with the series. You'll won't be sorry. I am glad you loved this movie! I enjoyed your reaction. I'm off to see your 2nd reaction now. Peace!
25:28 Nice job figuring out Snape was protecting the gang from Quirrel/Voldemort before th reveal. I didn't figure it out when I watched first time and you're the only reactor i've seen so far who has figured QUIRREL is the antagonist. The closest others got was Snape is innocent.
I wasn't allowed to watch them at home being raised southern baptist. However, i did in secert at friend's homes until high school 😂 and then at home once my folks actually let me. Im a total potter head and im in Gryffindor!! 🤣❤️
Just found your channel and loved seeing your reaction to this. I’m Christian, grew up Christian, and I watched this when I was a kid with my parents shortly after it came out. We all fell in love with it and I grew up with Harry Potter. In school, I remember being called a devil worshipper - by the other kids and even the pastor’s wife - and told that I was going to go to hell. I didn’t care. The movies aren’t about supporting devils or evil or black magic. They’re about friendship and loyalty and sacrifice and, above all else, love.
Also, as somewhat of an aside: I’m still rather miffed at how they changed Ron’s character from the books. He’s very clever in his own way and is street smart about the wizarding world, having grown up there. Hermione’s book smart, but prone to freezing in critical moments, and they gave some of Ron’s best lines/actions to her. In the Devil’s Snare trap, it was Ron who remained calm and Hermione who panicked:
"Devil's Snare, Devil's Snare ... What did Professor Sprout say? It likes the dark and the damp-"
"So light a fire!" Harry choked.
"Yes - of course - but there's no wood!" Hermione cried, wringing her hands.
"HAVE YOU GONE MAD?" Ron bellowed. "ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT?"
"Oh, right!" said Hermione.
Also, also: Yay, someone else who likes Alan Rickman (Snape)! He was the best Snape. ❤
I’m also a Christian but I realized that the Harry Potter stories are more about Harry’s horrible life than the wizard/witch stuff. Enjoy!
Watching HP again as an adult show how unfair the favoritism to Gryffindor is.
Forgive my late entry into your react series, but seeing as you're a complete newcomer to this series (during this viewing), I must say you really put a lot of critical plot points together on the spot. Kudos!
The first time watching HP ?! OMG what a treat ❤
Such a great video!! More people need to see this!!
Oscar your work is very well done, I follow you on Instagram, congratulations from here in Brazil.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷
Its nice to have a fellow aussie crtiquing these movies. They di get darker as they go on but I'd like yo see you review the rest as you have great intuition and predictions for this type of movie.
This is the first reaction of your's I've seen and I really enjoyed it and look forward to the rest. Your laugh is adorable, too. Very cheery!
So excited to see you start this series! I have to admit that the books have a lot more world and character building, but the films get better and better as well. Stay with it! :)
HP ❤️ I’m a Christian too, I actually see A LOT of Christian themes / imagery in the story.
Im so happy I came across you watching these! I love watching HP reactions and a lot of them are people just sitting with their mouths vide open not understanding anything and not reacting.
You are intelligent, understand what's happening, and offer very insightful commentary!
Going to your patreon immediately!
I haven't been here long but I think you're going to really enjoy this series. Can't wait to see the rest! 👍
My condolences that you missed out on this during your childhood, I grew up with these movies. :D
I read the books long ago, and also consider myself a Christian. I found it interesting that most mental health professionals have found that people who have read the books tend to be more empathetic. That I can agree on! I hope you enjoy and read the books also. So much richer!
Yeah I've always felt that having concrete knowledge of what your heart most desires is important knowledge for you
Watching you react to this so sincerely and with such joy was just a delight. I loved your trying to figure things out and your comments. 😃
Please watch the whole series...you won't be disappointed! 😁 Neville Longbottom has his own sad family story that you'll learn later. The Weasleys are looked down upon by Draco because they're not rich (remember Ron's sad lunch on the Hogwart's Express).
Was Neville's family story in the movies? I remember it from the books.
Dude I just stumbled onto this one and your intuitions with the story are so good!! Gonna keep watching more!! Well done!
The movies have done a bit of a poor job explaining the scene with Quirrell at the end. The protection of Harry's mum did not kill Quirrell. In the books he couldn't touch Harry's skin without getting painful blisters there. But what killed him was Voldemort leaving his body. The movies make it look a bit like Harry killed a guy at eleven 🙈
Would love to see you watch them all, the stories will drag you in x
7.50 saw this at the cinema with school when i was 7 scared the heck out of me watching voldermort in the black cloak
