As a fellow 49ers fan the Thomas pick still hurts … I am tired of everyone saying we had Mahommes on the board … No we didn’t we just signed Garropalo and he still hadn’t lost or been injured and was just made the highest paid player in the NFL. Thomas had a lot going against… Dude lives in a closet and losing his sister broke him mentally. He seemed like a great teammate always involved with the team but I solely attribute his failure to losing his sister …

I would say Green Bay’s worst decision of the past decade would be not firing Dom Capers sooner. There is no excuse for Capers as DC to not get fired after fielding some of the worst defenses during the post Super Bowl window. It probably cost the Packers like 4 additional Super Bowl appearances.

As a Cardinals fan, without seeing where we are on this last, the worst decision of the decade(and I'm guessing by decade you mean last 10 years) would have to be not taking the starters out of the Eagles game in 2015 where Tyrann Matthieu got hurt in the closing moments of the game which was a blowout at that point. #2 would be not standing pat at #15 in 2018 and taking Lamar Jackson instead of trading up for Josh Rosen.

GB's biggest mistake, which still happen, is either being way too slow to correct mistakes, like the firing of bad coaches or coordinators OR it's the inability to fix the defense. For example Joe Barry. He was NOT fired. No, this woefully underperforming DC was allowed to coach out his contract and just not re-signed. Or GB has been trying since 2010 to fix it's defense and has failed, it's poured in every 1st round pick for 14 years (except Love in 2020) and eight of Matt Lefleur's nine 1st round picks into the defense and has yet to field a better than average defense (best was 14th I think). The last time GB had a top 5 defense- they won a Super Bowl.

I disagree on the Packers because that was a player error, not a team error -- the problem wasn't having Bostick on the field, it was that he decided to try to play hero instead of play his correct assignment. If Bostick just did what he was told (which was to block and NOT try to go for the ball), Packers probably recover that kick. I would instead say it's one of two things (and both ultimately connect to the 2020 season):
    1. Drafting Kevin King. Obviously it's hindsight but the Packers had better options; TJ Watt is the obvious one, but even if they were determined to go DB (which was probably reasonable based on their roster), Budda Baker went a couple picks after King and would've been a much better selection at that pick. If they don't draft King, maybe that position gets filled by someone who doesn't get burned by Scotty Miller and/or doesn't commit a needless PI penalty at the worst possible moment.
    2. More directly, not going for it on fourth down in the 2020 NFC Championship. Not only did this cost them the game, it most likely started the fracturing of the relationship between Rodgers and the team. Don't get me wrong, I think the Packers ultimately moved on from Rodgers at the right time, but 2021 and 2022 could've been smoother in the process. (Maybe they don't have to give him that big contract in 2022, for example.)
Honorable mention, hiring Mo Drayton as a special teams coordinator. If that 2021 team has even a reasonably competent special teams coach, they probably at least make it to the NFC Championship -- and Sean McVay has never beaten Matt LaFleur.

Well, maybe Yt won't delete _this_ comment. What Carr was doing in those games was Correcting Pete Carmichael's Errors. This is why Dennis Allen, doing the One Thing I've ever seen him do right just stood on the sideline & allowed Carr to do this.
He knew that Carmichael was inept & allowed Carr to do this & what do you know, the last 3 weeks of the season the offense clicked.
I don't think most people realize how NFL teams are structured. It would require Full Mutiny to correct problems caused by play-callers. Did you not _see _*_HOW upset_* Bellichick got with Jones over him seeking help outside of Matt Patricia?
When there's no one in ownership holding the coaches accountable, the players are screwed. We just saw the Eagles go from contenders to a laughing stock because of this & it's like the next second you forget play-calling & coaches exist. You _just singled out Matt Patricia _*_as a terrible play-caller & coach_* but you think what, Pete Carmichael was good?

For Dallas, I could also go with extending Dak the first time. Instead of using the Franchise Tag twice, that would’ve been a lot cheaper. Giants, I’m definitely saying hiring GM Gettleman. Deandre Baker was a bust, Kadarius Toney is a bust. Philadelphia, definitely Chip Kelly. Dude was more in his own head than Arthur Smith. Washington, trading for Carson Wentz. Wentz already cost Indianapolis a 1st round pick and a spot in the playoffs in the last game of the season, and yet you think taking on his contract in spite of only spending a 3rd round pick for him solved things. Chicago: Drafting Kevin White. Dude was one of the worst receivers period due to his lack of health. Detroit: Spending the #11 pick on Jameson Williams. Between his inconsistencies, gambling suspension and injuries, he’s already behind former 4th round pick Amon-Ra St Brown. Green Bay: The extension for Jaime Alexander. He’s only been decent as compared to being elite his first years in the NFL. Minnesota: Almost any decision at QB. From Christian Ponder, to Tavaris Jackson, to the inconsistency of Kirk Cousins, and the multitude of players last season, they never seem to have top tier QB play. Atlanta: Arthur Smith. Dude was arrogant in his abilities. Completely avoiding Kyle Pitts for Jonnu Smith on his 3rd team, to going for Bijan Robinson while already having Tyler Allgeier and Cordarelle Patterson in that role. Then hamstringing the QB spot with Taylor Heinicke and Desmond Ridder last season. Carolina: Not having a good offense the last few years. It has been if not the worst, one of the worst. Lack of playmakers, a below par offensive line, and trying to cobble something together with the remnants of Sam Darnold and Cam Newton. New Orleans: Hiring Dennis Allen. Yes his defenses have been decent. But since the retirement of Drew Brees and switching of Sean Payton, the team looks mediocre at best and with the cap purgatory they continue to be in, have no one to blame but themselves for not being able to acquire talent. Tampa: Picking Jameis Winston. He always had turnover issues and no matter which coaching staff was trying to curtail that, it was never solved. Arizona: Releasing Patrick Peterson. Outside of Budda Baker (who is more strong safety), there’s been terrible play along the rest of the secondary. Los Angeles: extending Joseph Noteboom. He has decent talent, but was supposed to be the replacement for Andrew Whitworth and he’s been too injury prone to make a difference. San Francisco: Could go with extending Jimmy Garropolo, trading 3 1st round picks for Trey Lance, or not seeing what the Eagles had done and having Chip Kelly being a head coach for a season. Seattle: drafting Rashaad Penny. He’s had spurts, but can’t stay consistent or healthy enough to truly be a #1 Runningback, especially being drafted 20th overall.

Signing Wentz was a good deal that didn't immediately off the intended way, B U T!, Wentz had value at tha point so the Eagles traded him quickly ang were able to parlay that into two 1rd picks that gave up Devonta Smith and Jalen Carter while keeping our 1st rd picks.

Rams fan here. I don't consider paying Todd Gurley a mistake. He's a running back so it wasn't like the deal crippled them that much in terms cap space plus the extension was done in the last year of his rookie contract so they didn't have 'many years of control' outside maybe the franchise tag. And Todd is such a good guy. I'm happy he got paid.
The REAL biggest mistake of the decade was hiring Jeff Fisher. As an LA native, I didn't root for the Rams until they came back so to me (and LA) it was only 1 lost season but still...

The worst decision of the decade the 49ers made is both the reason the niners are good again but will never be good enough to win a Lombardi: Kyle Shanahan. Shanahan had the opportunity to go to Mahomes pro-day. He skipped it. His philosophy vs Demeco Ryans. Kyle didn't choose a QB and build a team around him like Ryans did. Texans were a playoff team in Ryans first year as HC. Kyle's record was so bad for so long that it took Brock Purdy to get it over .500 and keep it there.

The issue with the 9ers is they have to beat mahomes. Like let's just be honest here, if Kittle (loved this kid since his cousin HKC announced he was coming to iowa) doesn't get that PI to end the first half, the 9ers probably win that bowl with Jimmy G. Last year if Greenlaw doesn't get smited by god they probably win that superbowl.
Atlanta was in no way his fault, even with Matty Ice taking a sack, and fumbling, if the falcons come out in the same defense they played the first half in the pats never have a shot to come back.
I'll never forget (as a brady fan from the time he was as michigan, don't @ me, it still feels dirty as a dyed in the wool hawks fan) hearing moss say "I got my money on the goat, cause dan quinn has lost x number of games he's had a y or more lead in, because he comes out in prevent to try and hold it." and that is exactly what he did.
So you can not like shanny, i get that, he's like night mode cliff kingsbury, but he's not the reason. 2 wonk plays and dan quinn using madden to call plays is why shanny has 0 rings instead of 3.

49ers would not have gotten the first pick in 2017. I looked it up it if 49ers lose out go 1-15 same as Browns. Tie breaker is team that had the lower opponents strength of schedule. Browns .448 number 21. 49ers .554 number one. So the Browns were the worst team against the easier schedule. If I am wrong correct me. But yes wishful thinking for Myles Garrett and you know Lynch trying to build the 2002 Buccaneers strong D-Line would have taken Garrett. 2017 Shanahan did not need a QB he had Hoyer and drafted Beathard so Lynch/Shanahan had QB solved. I have NEVER seen an organization say ok lets go get our franchise QB 5 YEARS into the regime before, until the 49ers did it, and then 49ers did not get franchise QB in 2021. 2017 the 49ers could have had the one that just beat the 49ers for another Super Bowl. The Bryce Young outlook anytime in the draft QB's are taken 1-2 overall one is good and one is not, or both are not. I have looked up this situation. 1994, 1998, 1999 (3), 2012, 2015, 2016, 2021 (3), 2023, 2024 (3). Not saying QB were never good but for team drafted them no. One good one not or both not. Atlanta has been spiraling ever since 28-3. We tried to pretend everything was okay for far too long.
Matt Ryan damn near duplicated his production from his MVP season, and it went for naught because we never addressed our evermore gaping holes on defense.
We were 1-7, with Joe Burrow and Tua Tagoviola at the top of the draft board, and Matt Ryan starting to show his age. Better try to make a mad dash for the playoffs. Oh that wasn't obviously far too little far too late? Better bring the coach who couldn't get the team to rally until it literally couldn't matter back again.
"Hey everyone, it's fine! We have a running back now!"... apparently Todd Gurley's knee was suddenly going to realize that it was back in Georgia and the arthritis would have just stopped dead in its tracks.
Reliving 28-3 every week until Quinn got fired was not fun.
Yup. That's right, Blank, we're just a tight end away from contention. Better lock him up as the highest drafted tight end ever and never ever consider throwing the ball in his general direction.
Oh... you... finally decided to consider a successor for Matt Ryan? And at the top of your list... a guy who hasn't played in nearly 2 years and might be facing prison time. Did you forget how we came about *getting * Matt Ryan? Congrats on blowing your load- now we have to replace him out of THIS draft stock.
So confident in this pick that we didn't even consider starting him.
How the fuck did we only get eliminated on the final week while actively ignoring all of our playmakers? Whatever, just fire Smith out of a cannon, please?
I wonder who our next coach will be. We're interviewing these top guys multiple times...
The guy we replaced with Arthur Smith? He's coached 1 good season. Apart from that, he's who you hire to win the Tank Bowl.
Penix... I get that we want an insurance policy for Cousins, especially how qb play has been since we fucked ourselves out of Matt Ryan, but if we're that concerned about it, why did we throw him that bag? This is overcorrecting if I've ever seen it.

Thats definitely worse than one lost game, considering all the games they could have won if they had the money to pay another good player instead of a washed up running back. Maybe they wouldve even beat the Packers for once.💀

you wiffed on the saints. That was on olave. Carr was expecting a double move because there was no safety over top. Olave missed it. As peyton manning says "If the qb misses that bad in the nfl, it's almost always on the receiver."
If Olave stutters and goes that's a huge gain, if not a TD.
Carr also pissed off his oline...which was the worst in the NFL. I'd be fucking furious too if i had my ribs broken 3 seperate times because my oline was that bad.
You mentioned a list of receivers who didn't like him...they were all dog water. Adams LOVES carr, and he's the only HoFer who carrs had, so i'd say Carr isn't the problem, it's shit teams.
It's hard to take a football channel seriously when you can't break down the coverage before giving a skip bayless esq shit take though. Like if you throw the ball 15 yards past a receiver who was breaking on a streak, and there is no defender near it...that means it was wide ass open and the receiver fucked up. That's mid high school/ d2 colllege level analsyts.

Dallas - paying Dak so much......a few things you said weren't even bad. They should have switched to Andy Dalton or Cooper Rush.
Philadelphia - not making Gardner Minshew II their starter. That's even worse than the Wentz deal.
N.Y. Giants - too dysfunctional - but I don't think Saquon was worst
Washington - should still be the Redskins
Detroit - dumbass trying for a 2-point conversion 85 times when the extra point takes them into overtime
Green Bay - sticking with Aaron Rodgers when he has choked in the playoffs since the Super Bowl (they don't beat the Patriots)
Minnesota - not giving Kyle Sloter a chance to start
Chicago - drafting Caleb Williams #1 - he'll be a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf
New Orleans - not giving Taysom Hill the QB job when Drew Brees retired
    Tampa Bay - agree
Carolina - starting Bryce Young over Andy Dalton - pure stupidity (just like Dallas)
San Francisco - trading up for Trey Lance instead of sticking with Jimmy G. (because they could have still gotten Purdy without losing all that draft capital)
    Seattle - agree
    L.A. Rams - agree
Atlanta - paying Kirk Cousins so much (and drafting Penix) - kinda two-for-one
Arizona - Kyler Murray, by far

I don't think the Niners wanted Lance at #3 overall (could have had him at their original draft spot), I think they wanted someone else (maybe Mac Jones) and then in the course of the offseason, realized that whoever they wanted at #3 originally wasn't worth that high of a pick and panicked into taking a glorified High School QB (Lance). I agree it's their biggest mistake and both the GM Lynch and HC Shanahan would likely have been fired if not for Purdy.
