I know he doesnt technically qualify for it, but yu really cant tell the story of bowling without him. His power is mind-bending enough even before you realize that he has fibromyalgia and his ball was drilled with the sole intention of reducing his rev rate. We will probably never have someone else with as much skill as he did.
I first saw Robert Smith compete in person back in 2002 during the Empire State Open. I was always amazed watching him on tv, but in person it was a privilege to watch this man absolutely throw the ball like it was shot out of a cannon and destroy the rack. Good to see he looks healthy and still has plenty of power in his game. They don't call him "Maximum" Bob for nothing.
I wish some of you youngsters could have seen him in juniors. He was simply unbeatable. There was a junior San Diego tournament where he came down from LA to bowl, he was like +225 for the four game qualifying and second qualifier was like -28. Him and Joel Reyes (RIP), amazing kids.
Maximum Bob is an absolute Legend. Will always go down as my favorite bowler to ever watch, he still looks amazing. When he was at his peak, never seen anything like him at the time.
Great getting to watch Robert Smith bowl again, seeing him fight and comeback to quality for next round was too cool.....am rooting for him for a complete and successful comeback and do well in the PBA. He looks great, still has plenty of power so think that it can happen. Thanks for posting this Sir, and here's to you, Forrest, Tim and of course 'Maximum Bob' have a Great Tournament in Vegas next month! 🎳👍
I think he's the first one I've ever seen stand in front of the ball return and launch the ball halfway down the lane in the air. Mission control, we have lift off 'Maximum Bob"
Beginning of this video was hard to watch him struggle like that. I grew up watching Robert Smith. He was from the same small town as me. Remember bowling in juniors and he came to coach my brother and I on a sport shot. Glad he’s still competing.. he’s a beast!
Robert smith is a legend and my favorite bowler of all time. I really enjoy watching him. He still has good power. I hope he has a good comeback and wins another title.
I was a bowling coach in Simi Valley CA when Robert was a junior he just torn the cover of the ball at 15 and Average 234 that year.the best junior bowler i ever saw!!
Thanks for sharing Bob. There’s going to be a lot of younger folks who didn’t get to see him at his peak. I wish there was a way to get him in the HOF.
That was so great to see Robert power through and figure it out!!! He is my favorite bowler of that era.... Marshall Holman was my first fav.... Yep, I'm pretty old...😅
Robert Smith owns the deep inside game that's his bread and butter fourth Arrow fifth Arrow Wheeling it getting the 10 pin out from fifth arrow is impressive
haha and the past couple games he threw so many shots that look like they should have 9-pinned but didn't, and then he goes 2 in a row on that lane to begin the game
MB/RS one of my absolute favorite bowlers. I see something in this video that reminds me of me. I’m just coming back. I been out for 9 years and I see that will I stay in my wheel house I bowl great 🙏🏾❤️
Back in the day he had a median of about 520-550 and if he really had to hook it he reduced ball speed and gave it all the juice and probably produced 570-600 revs. Nowadays with two hander around every corner and a generally way more power oriented game the revs went up quite a bit.
I can see that his hips are bothering him still. He's only 48. The shots where he pops up (especially while playing straighter) and fans off the shot is totally his hips. :(
The spear when you touch the wall I believe that's a foul and they should have not come to spare but I'm not sure the rules but I'm pretty sure there's a foul
Robert Smith may not be in the hall of fame, but he will always be in my hall fame. Such a legend
He should. Dude set a tone in the early 2000s. Success through the application of excessive force haha.
not one tour pro would bowl him heads up on a us open pattern for a 1000 a game...
I know he doesnt technically qualify for it, but yu really cant tell the story of bowling without him.

Dude was an absolute monster lol

Great to see maximum BOB bowling again definitely my favorite bowler of all time

My favorite bowler of all time. Back in the late 80s I was in awe watching him in JAT. Having revs like that as a young teen was unreal. R.Smith 👍💯💪
He was unbelievable as a junior bowler. Absolute terror.
when he moved way left you could see the lightbulb go on
I think he's the first one I've ever seen stand in front of the ball return and launch the ball halfway down the lane in the air. Mission control, we have lift off 'Maximum Bob"
Smith is a goddamn legend. This was so fun to watch - thanks for posting it.
Beginning of this video was hard to watch him struggle like that. I grew up watching Robert Smith. He was from the same small town as me. Remember bowling in juniors and he came to coach my brother and I on a sport shot. Glad he’s still competing.. he’s a beast!
I respect you just for being there, my idol, my greatest bob
Oh cool! He lives in Oxnard, CA now. I used to live there a few years back and watched him bowl in his junior amateur years in Orange County.
Robert smith is a legend and my favorite bowler of all time. I really enjoy watching him. He still has good power. I hope he has a good comeback and wins another title.
I bowled with Robert Smith at a regional like 15 years ago. He's still a beast. By the way, that soundtrack was killer!
I was a bowling coach in Simi Valley CA when Robert was a junior he just torn the cover of the ball at 15 and Average 234 that year.the best junior bowler i ever saw!!

It’s so weird competing against Robert now because I grew up idolizing his game. In my opinion, he’s still the most powerful 1 handed bowler!
EJ Tackett: “am I a joke to you?” 😂
Indeed his power is insane at almost 50 now can’t imagine 20 years ago
@@biggydoggsjj EJ is definitely powerful but I’m biased forward Robert lol. He’s the OG
Mr Smith makes it look easy
I got to bowl a jr pro am with max Bob many years ago. Awesome guy and at the time no one threw harder.
That was so great to see Robert power through and figure it out!!!
He is my favorite bowler of that era.... Marshall Holman was my first fav....
Yep, I'm pretty old...😅
What about Mr Roth? The original power player?
I would watch every single shot maximum bob ever threw if they were somewhere on the internet for me to watch.
Nice to see him bowling. Dude could do things with a ball that nobody else could do back in the day.
Oh man, when he was able to open the lanes... OG Bob!
So great to see him bowling! Love that guy!
Nicely put together show!!
Thanks for posting this. Just seeing Maximum Bob on the lanes makes me feel good. What a competitor. He needs a haircut though... 😊
Seeing you post a vid of Maximum Bob confirms everything I already knew, yalls both the peoples champs! 🤙🔥
maximum Bob was my bowling idol growing up.
This was an awesome video! Very well put together, keep up the great work sir 🔥
Thank you sir 😄
Robert Smith, the most vicious hook in Bowling... He is da man!
Awesome video! Maximum Bob was always one of my favorites to watch.
Great video, as usual!
Also very cool to see Smith again.
thanks for posting more R. Smith
Robert Smith owns the deep inside game that's his bread and butter fourth Arrow fifth Arrow Wheeling it getting the 10 pin out from fifth arrow is impressive
I watch Robert grow up from a teenager, that always wanted to use my blue hammer, and who could barely turn the ball to rev monster that he is today.
He was pissed about a 188 in a pba regional on a sports shot🤣 I shoot 188 on a house pattern & think “solid game😎”
saw Robert Smith in Manila, he came and conquered- flawless !beat locals & foreign
The jump in was the nice for sure. Got Rob a check 👍
Yooo editing just gets better every time! It was fun meeting you and Tim at Delta bro! Looking forward to watching that one.
Yes sirrr coming soon to a UA-cam near you
for the first few games, he was just medium Bob, but when he is able to get in, dang, Maximus Bob!
I'd take Robert Smith in his prime over Belmo.
Great video pal! awesome soundtrack !!!
Stone 9 strike stone 9 sheet is the most Robert Smith game ever. Love watching him throw it.
haha and the past couple games he threw so many shots that look like they should have 9-pinned but didn't, and then he goes 2 in a row on that lane to begin the game
The 2nd one was a tad rude
I miss seeing him on TV. He deserves to be in the hof.
俺がボウリングにハマってた時の憧れの選手いつ見てもかっこいい😎
MB/RS one of my absolute favorite bowlers. I see something in this video that reminds me of me. I’m just coming back. I been out for 9 years and I see that will I stay in my wheel house I bowl great 🙏🏾❤️
Still the greatest bowling release of all time. Something that can't be taught. The only one that comes close is EJ Tackett.
He's bowling on my center's idea of a house shot. No recovery to the outside, and a wet-dry mess between first and third arrow.
Thank you for this!
Those lanes looked brutal
I feel like being eliminated by someone with a certified 900 series is like... something that can't be disappointing 😅
Love that guy!
Cool video talk tech bowling
The Man!!
4:34 rob definitely got robbed by that 7 pin
Why are you playing so straight Bob with all that power....... unlimited powerrrrrrrr
Just wait until the video creator realizes he is just as good as Robert Smith
I could never throw as hard and as accurately as Maximum Bob.
Wonder if he still has a crazy rev rate, they say he had over 700 at one point, basically more then even the strongest current 2 handers.
Back in the day he had a median of about 520-550 and if he really had to hook it he reduced ball speed and gave it all the juice and probably produced 570-600 revs.
Nowadays with two hander around every corner and a generally way more power oriented game the revs went up quite a bit.
I wouldn’t be able to tell if that was Robert Smith. Dude looks so different with the long hair
When he is dialed in, the pins be like ohh sh**
Love your 2 handed game
Why is it when he threw the first ball I thought he doesn't look comfortable he should move left and loft the gutter?
Still a beast.
What oil pattern did ya bowl on?
Maximum Bob!!
I can see that his hips are bothering him still. He's only 48. The shots where he pops up (especially while playing straighter) and fans off the shot is totally his hips. :(
If Robert didnt have the medical issues he had though out his career he wouldve been a hall of famer
Facts back problems held him back, dude could rev the hell out of a bowling ball lol
R Smith = Good bowler😀
Maximum Bob.
The spear when you touch the wall I believe that's a foul and they should have not come to spare but I'm not sure the rules but I'm pretty sure there's a foul
One of the most underrated bowlers 😴
I thought he was bowling 2 handed now because bowling one handed caused him too much pain physically?
A suggestion, maybe just lose the background music and letnus appreciate the sounds of the ball on the lanes and the pins falling.
2 9pins for a 270 game😢
W robert
Noite gang
Stayed with urethane too long
😂 what's wrong with him? Gutter balls and shxt wow.
Dude, enough with the loud ass unnecessary music. Why do you UA-camrs do that?
No way, a lefty won!? Lol
Cause the left side is easier everyone knows that!
That's it! I'm going to switch to 2 handed and lefty! Look out Belmo!
First
The bowling is great the song sucks
Why would you record a video of a washed up has been who clearly is not good enough for the pba anymore
That washup bowler you called would wipe the floor with you duchebag.
Also Brad he was a pro bowler and a damn good one. So your comments are ridiculous and absurb.
And the winner for asshole of the yr goes to
BRAD FICKESS😤😤
@@gregamerson9172 Couldn't agree more with you Greg. Brad is a major asshole.
Haha! You could only dream about being better than him.
Right from the start of this video...
I said...hes too far right
